The Dark Knight Scenes Edited Differently on the DVD Than in the Theatrical Cut

I think the shot of Batman saying "then you're gonna love me" was shown in one of the TV spots or the Dominoes Pizza trailer. It was not edited that way for the final cut distrubuted to theatres in July.

Correct.

i highly doubt any of these differences are true. the movie plays the same in theaters as it does on dvd. i just saw it in IMAX saturday, and the last time i had watched it was a day before, and im an obsessive film nerd and so are the two friends who came with me, and we are also TDK nerds, so we would have noticed, trust me.

i feel like nolan is the type of person who wouldn't keep it a secret if he tampered with the film for dvd release, in fact, they would probably just call it a director's cut, half of those on the market are stupid stuff like that- trimming two seconds off a shot, adding a transitional shot, or the stupidest of all, adding more gore that means nothing to the film- instead of, you know, changing the movie to what the filmmaker's original cut looked like. and since nolan has said the dark knight released in theaters is his director's cut, and since it's pretty well known that WB gives absolutely no notes to nolan, i think its safe to say that you are a dummy head.

also this sort of seems like a simple case of latching onto something untrue and refusing to budge so as not to seem silly.

hey Dark!! wassup? you were there friday night too were ya....

That's strange. The movie I saw had Batman as a peeing robot and the Joker as a foreign man with a mustache traveling the United States. He had a fat friend named Harvey Dent.

Also in the cut I saw saw he said "Like my mother always said". Everyone knows every theater in the world gets a different cut.

This may possibly be the most sarcasm-laden post I've seen here in awhile. You win.

with the trailers in mind, I do believe that they may sound a bit different because perhaps they brought in a voice actor as Heath was already gone by the time the second trailer debuted.

I'm pretty sure it's still Heath, they just used footage from different takes for the trailers that is not the same take that ended up in the final film.

For example, in the 3rd trailer, when the Joker says "Here's my card", the card is right-side up & the line delivery is a little faster than it is in the movie. Also, the Joker card is upside-down in the version that was used in the film.

Man, I feel like such a geek for noticing these things, LOL.

dude you're one of us.....

The part where Nurse Joker was startled by the bomb going off. I remember him being a bit more frightened and the scene lasting a few more seconds in theaters than it did on DVD.

Yeah, i heard they did two versions of that... took them a few months to rebuild the hospital between takes though.

Ok let me clear this up!!!! The only 2 cuts of the film that exist are the theatrical cut and the IMAX cut, it has been acknowledged by the Editor that there is one shot in the movie that is cut differently in each version. Now... if you have the blu ray, it should mirror the IMAX cut of the movie, and the rgular dvd should mirror the Theatrical cut of the movie. This may be the reason why people seem to have seen differences however im certain it has nothing to do with a Line of dialogue and more to do with a shot being edited differently.

The one different shot is when Alfred is burning the letter at the end. The shot comes in differently in the theatrical version when compared to the IMAX version. I'm pretty sure someone confirmed this, but I can't remember who.

They didn't use a voice actor. My friend who works in sound (although not on TDK's production) told me Heath was finished with the ADR, after speaking directly with someone on TDK. There's a Latino Review interview with Heath in early November 2007 where he says he's done.

It might have been me. :oldrazz: And yeah, that's the only difference.

Noooo! I totally remember seeing this goofy ass shot of Batman in the film saying "...you're gonna love me."

:whatever:

Robin is on the DVD version. In fact, the whole movie is about him.

The shot of Joker producing the knife after the Batpod crash is extended by a couple seconds on the DVD release. That's the only change I noticed. There was a topic about this a month or so back, I believe.
