never got to watch zombie island. the trailer looks really good for it though. should i try to find it on dvd?

i recently bought the batman brave and the bold & scooby doo team up but haven't found the time to watch it yet.

i'm excited for a new animated scooby doo movie though haha

I personally agree.

Watching Scooby Doo as a kid in the 70s, I got disappointed when I soon realised every episode would end with the classic "twist" that all the spooky stuff was just a facade done by some greedy dude, trying to scare people off from some huge amount of hidden money etc, etc. Back then I wanted to see real monsters.

When I got older, I couldn't wait for the "would've succeeded if it wasn't for you meddling kids" moment when the "monster" was demasked, and how they tried to somehow still be fresh about it. It's a great part of every episode IMHO. They have to solve something that seems supernatural, but isn't.

But maybe that's hard to keep up to these days? I dunno.

I see what they're doing and I love it so much. This sounds fun and I'm definitely in, just wondering why the movie will mainly focus on Scooby and the gang.

Yeah because those Hanna Barbera cartoons that have existed for 40 years surely aren't enough.

They've done it before with all those crossover movies and csrtoons so it's nothing new. I guess Dick Dastardly is the main big bad.

Atom Ant, Hong Kong Phooey, Jabberjaw, Johnny Quest, Dynotmutt, Birdman. Those are a few that I want to see. The Flintstones and the Jetsons are pretty much guaranteed to be included. Kinda tired of the Smurfs but I'm sure they'll pop up in some capacity.

From the newer generation there's also the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, Johnny Bravo and a few more. I wonder who we'll get...the possibilities are exciting.

The Smurfs aren't Hanna Barbera characters, they were only licensed.

I do wonder how they'll make Dastardly and Muttley a threat as Wacky Races and Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines show they're not good at their jobs. Also, it's weird they'll have more cartoony HB characters mixed in the more 'realistic' ones like Scooby, Jonny Quest etc but maybe it'll work in the context of the movie.

It may be cynical, but in an age when Disney uses all the time they're not already spending buying up other companies to remake their entire animated library in live action... I think cynicism might just be the name of the game.

Really my only misgiving for the time being is whether or not Mystery Inc. gets overshadowed because the whole thing is so crowded. I think a big Hanna-Barbera crossover works, I just don't want the gang to get lost in the shuffle when they're the title characters.

But I suppose stuff like The New Scooby-Doo Movies provide a decent enough template for this kind of thing.

would like to see Dynomutt and Captain Caveman again too, but it just doesn't seem right to leave Matthew Lillard out ofthis thing.
