Days of Future Past Scoring Days of Future Past - The Soundtrack/Music Thread

I really liked the sound tracks.

Hope (Xavier's theme) is my favourite.

I really miss Magneto's 'frankenstein theme' from FC in this movie.

I agree in a sense, but at the same time I felt like the tone of this movie didn't really match up with that theme.

I had stayed away from all the soundtrack stuff prior to seeing the movie because sometimes soundtracks have spoiler titles, so I had no idea that they used the X2 theme in there.

Hearing that at the beginning of the movie really got me excited for the rest of it.

It's there in the Time's Up (Film Version) track, especially in the last minute. You can really hear it when Magneto descends on the White House with the Sentinels.

"Hat Rescue" and "Hope" are my favorite tracks.

Just a quick mention, I hope we get a "The Future - Main Titles" (Film Version) at the very least as a Bonus track on iTunes, for all intents and purposes most of the films cues are in the soundtrack, except for that one, and I don't want this to be a "Bathroom Titles" situation again.

Bathroom Titles and Phoenix Rising both had different film version (Phoenix rising had a lot more melodic orchestra) that 8 years later I'm still waiting to be available.

The alternate Phoenix track would be cool too, but to be honest I loved the soundtrack version, it has the choral background, and it's also not that rushed into the giant final quotation of the Phoenix theme.

The way the end titles theme incorporated Xaviers theme is just wow.

I'm pretty sure it's The Attack Begins.

When it lands around the White House is the beginning of The Attack Begins. I want to say it's I Have Faith In You, since the whole "I have faith in you" speech actually happens during Join Me.

"I Have Faith In You/Goodbyes" is my favorite track. It covers the scene when Storm rises and joins forces with Magneto as he sends the X-Jet to blow up some Sentinel ass.

Something I thought was cool and subtle when watching it again was after Logan sees Stryker, has flashbacks and when Stryker takes the taser wires out of neck and stares at Logan's bone claws, in the background you hear Stryker's theme from X2 for a couple of seconds. 2:05 - 2:10 and 2:22 - 2:30

I didng hear that but I'll keep an eye out next time I see it :)

Is this the first X-Film where we have gotten what now seems to be a consecutive X theme from another film i.e the opening credit sequence score…?

Returning from my third view here in Brazil. The theater was packed for a second week film!

BUT only now I caught Alfred Newman's Fox fanfare with the X-Theme at the end! HOW DARE they didn't include that as the first track on the soundtrack?!?!?!?!

The score/music in the film was pretty good. I enjoyed it more than FC.

One question... Trying to find the OT Mystique theme, was it ever released on one of the original soundtracks? Was wondering if anyone had a YouTube link to it.

Personally, I thought the score was a bit of a mess. It had no identity or thematic through-line. The only standout bits were the theme (which while nice, was nothing new) and the Xavier theme, which was a very RCP inspired cue that was fairky generic and just kind of meandered for four minutes. Overall the score wasn't bad, just not noteworthy.

What really bugged me, though, was the outright cribbing of material from other movies. "Contacting Raven" was irritatingly similar to The Thin Red Line, bits and pieces here and there reminded me of Man of Steel, and there's a portion of "The Attack Begins" that is identical to a cue from Ender's Game. Ottman has done this before with X2, but here it was just blatant and pulled me out of the movie. I think what bothers me so much about it this time around is that the score as a whole is forgettable.

I was expecting better from Ottman after his stellar work on X2. I still like the score, and have listened to it quite a few times since seeing the movie, but Ottman is capable of more. Even the dreadful FF films had fantastic (pun intended) scores.
