Days of Future Past Scoring Days of Future Past - The Soundtrack/Music Thread

That would be badass though, all the girls fighting side by side.
GIRL POWER ALL DAY

Rogue, Storm, Blink and Kitty all kicking ass together!

^^I like the sound of that!

It might be a joke like N'Sync's Bye Bye Bye in X2 or it could be something that's been heard on a radio in the background. I actually like the song so whichever way they choose to incooperate it in to DOFP i don't really care as long as it serves a purpose.:woot:

Glad to hear Ottman wants to reuse/expand upon the X2 theme. He shares my frustration with the lack of musical continuity in the franchise. It makes it feel like each movie is its own universe. Not a fan of that.

I still wish they got back the old creative team from X2 especially the noob writers, Dougherty and Harris but having Ottman back helming editing and scoring duties certainly helps.

days of future past is an odd mix of FC (Matthew Vaughn & Jane Goldman story) Simon Kinberg (X3) writing screen play and bryan singer directing X1 & X2

Back in March Ottman was interviewed by Film Music Media and it seems he wants to expand upon themes he did for X2 in DOFP. But it seems Singer may have had different ideas at the time.

Listen to the interview here (it's very insightful):http://www.filmmusicmedia.com/interviews/composerinterviewjohnottman

Also, I came across something interesting on the site of The Royalty Network, who are an "independent music publisher and administrator, providing licensing and royalty services worldwide to prolific songwriters, producers and artists".

It seems a very familiar Beyoncé Knowles song will feature in DOFP! Or was it just used a temp track?!

Rumor smells like BS to me.

God! Please choose any other female artist, not just Beyonce.

She annoys the heck out of me and Run of World is not a very good song.

As long as she doesn't act I'm fine.

Can't wait for the dofp soundtrack. I'm gonna buy the hell out of that thing!

Hopefully Ottman can deliver. I know he is capable, and I know I'm in the minority, but besides a few phrases or moments (Obviously "Suite from X2" is amazing), I don't love the X2 score. The Last Stand, for me, easily had a much more "epic" and "looming" feel, which I think fit the pace of TLS and should fit the looming mood of DOFP. And the score to First Class was incredible for the time period too.

So for me, I just want it to sound like a mix of TLS and FC.

Even though I enjoyed Powell's X3 score and believe it achieved what that film failed to be. I feel Ottman's X2 score reflected the tone, spirit, and idea of Singer's X-men perfectly. Especially with X2 being closer to the film Singer wanted to make than X1. Plus Ottman has a better understanding of Singer and his films. Heck he edited and scored most of 'em. So he should. I'm glad Ottman is scoring DOFP instead of Jackman. His X:FC score wasn't anything special and very typical of a certain style and approach, imho. Ottman returning was an upgrade for me.

Getting eager! You could do a lot of really cool stuff with the two time periods.

After reading the pages, in this thread, so far, it seems I might be the only one
in here who never liked John Ottman's soundtrack for X2.
For me it sounded like another Superman theme and it was so kitch and irrelevant to XMEN.

On the other hand, Michael Kamen's score for X1,
was so original and so great that if he was alive,
I'd love him to score DOFP.

In any case, I'm not narrow minded, and even that I was disappointed with X2 score,
I don't mind having a new score from Ottman.
Even if it sucks, that wouldn't spoil the joy watching DOFP ;)

I'm very curious about the score. In the MTV clip sounds great. It is time for a trck list or samples.. Do you know anything about it?

If the three Norton videos have original John Ottman music, I have to say that my first impression is kinda "meh" and "uninspired" (and for the record I loved the X2 score), I will of course buy the score, and wait to see how it plays out onscreen, but so far not so good.
