Absolutely spot on. I don't see how people can think the motive was bad either. It was brilliant. It encapsulates what is going on in the world today. Which makes me unsure of what they could do with the fifth film.

I think there's people who can just look up spoilers to the film on the internet now that the film is out. If they're thinking they want to see the film and if it's worth it. Believe me, there are people who don't care that much. Or they want to see if it's worth their money.

Which is another ironic and brilliant thing about this film. People can look up spoilers to this film on the internet when the film itself addresses these kind of issues. I mean everything we're talking about it happening at this very second. People get murdered, and at the same time people are texting, then someone can look up something on the internet, whether this happens or not, if someone suddenly collapses in the street, people don't use their phones to call 911, they use them to film what is happening.

Scream 4 also shows the continuance of how uncaring people are and how we respond to violence. Scream 2 showed this as well in the opening. I also liked how each film gradually started to show the more extensive uses and needs of cellular phones. It goes from "Where did you get a cellular phone?" to everyone using one in this, like Billy's line but to an even greater and more horrible extent.

Just think. All of this started because of Billy and Stu. The legacy they brought on. It expanded to ways they even couldn't even imagine.

I mean
Jill was more merciless than Billy. She outright shot Trevor in the balls and head. She never gave him a chance. At least Billy and Stu held Sydney's dad.

Which reminds me, the reveal of the killers is perhaps more, if not just as disturbing as the Billy and Stu scene in the first. It's actually taken a step further.

Think about it. The world has always been screwed up, but it's getting more and more screwed up.

I don't think I've ever seen something like that in a movie. I cringed both times it happened. And the theater let out a collective 'groan' too.

Saw the movie last night. I loved it I'll say it on par with Scream 2. But I didn't like how ...

Sid, Dewy AND Gale all survived at the end for the FOURTH time. I swear they should have killed off somebody like Gale or Sid.

Talk **** doesn't have the same definition for you does it? When someone tweets ''On my way to #Scream 4." they are mostly likely going to see it. If they hash tag they want to see it they want to see it. It's really not that hard to understand.

I want to go watch that new Vanessa Hudgins film. Will i though? :D

Just because someone says they want to see Scream 4, doesn't mean they will. The box office speaks for itself.

Kinda glad it didn't make bank this weekend. I adored the film, but there was so much finality to it that I just don't want them to continue. Hopefully the modest box office returns prevents the studio from rushing out two more.

I trust Williamson if he has an idea. No one else. I only trust Williamson then Craven in delivering the material. Because if he finds something and knows it can work from what Williamson wrote, you're golden.

But yeah, I still don't know what the hell they can do.
I mean what the hell happens to Sydney after this?

I crunched my legs up when I happened. I'd rather be just shot in the head and get it over with you know? Although the thing was when it happened, it was unexpected and then when she put the bullet in his head without much thought. A double whammy.

And Anderson stabbing in the head? I yelled out, "OH, DAYUM!"

:awesome:

How about open the next movie up with a teenage boy picking the phone up? He answers the phone and it's Ghostface. GF does his usual thing and makes pleasant talk for a while, and then the teenage boy says he's hanging out with his friend. GF then asks where his friend is. He of course hasn't shown up yet. Then his friend comes out scaring him. He was using the GF voice ap to scare the **** out of him. Then **** happens.

I'd be cool to actually have a ghostface voice ap this time around. Or was there in this film? It would just show that anyone can be GF.

You would have to show some sort of advancement of what Jill did in some way. Or not. Maybe that was the final straw for people.

Maybe this time they can actually tackle the issue of how overdone horror movies can be and the self parody of the circumstances. Like commenting on remaking a remake and how nobody cares about horror anymore. It's all a rehash to them. Have audiences finally smartened up on horror films in general? Maybe they've even become more savvy on the self parody and how that's even getting ridiculous. It's overkill and people are sick of it.

Like the opening scene can show how people have become pretty desensitized towards violence and how it's a norm. Real life even isn't as scary anymore. Like the teenage boy actually turning it on GF and questioning him on movie trivia.

Real life, we're so used to violence. Shootings don't even make the news as much. Why? Because we're so used to it. Nothing happens unless it's something spectacular. This would be something Ghostface would pay attention to. Ghostface could be out to show that people still need horror films and to be scared. All in a sick and ironic way of course. Myabe this series will end where Sydney will always be scared for the rest of her life. It goes back to the first film where she says she doensn't like being scared or horro films. Even Billy's line of "Life is just one big movie."

Why? they got lucky, and that's one of the things I love about the Villain. The original cast manges to still pull through. However, I don't see all of them surving 6 films. Do I want them to? Yeah, but I don't see it happening.

I honestly don't see how they can continue with a new trilogy after this movie. It seems more like a finale than the beginning of a new trilogy in my book. I fear that the rumored two more movies will dip in quality and become crappy like Scream 3 and the saw movies.

Yeah, I really thought Gale was going to die, but she didn't. I was fine that the three survived. And the "new generation" all dying. It goes into the sticking the middle finger to the "new series" planned in films. You can't kill the original, no matter how you try to reinvent it.

In fact, this film is also a tribute to the first.

Ehh, I wouldn't say that they'll dip in a quality. I mena, I will admit that if there wasn't gonig ot be a Scream 5 & 6, Scream 4 would be a fitting end, but I do want to see a 5th and 6th film.

And you know,
if Dewey can survive a knife in the back, then being stabbed mulitple times across two movies, Kirby can certainly survive.

I can't wait to see this a second time tommorow. Friday already feels long ago, lol. I'll probably enjoy just as much as the first time I saw it.

Ghostface really is an underrated killer. Easily the most realistic.

The coolest thing about Ghostey is he has yet to become a parody of themself.

He/She is still just as badass as the first movie.

Where as you look at what Pinhead, Freddy, etc became after the first movie.

did anyone notice when
gale got stabbed in the barn that you could see and hear the fake knife retract?

I can't believe this did not do well at the BO over the weekend. I would think every horror and Scream fan would be out seeing this. The general audience is just sucking at going to movies.

Those were my reactions to both as well. :funny:

If word of mouth is positive, it'll pull through. Even though these films are unrelated to one another -- Limitless and No Strings Attached opened roughly to $18-19M on their opening weekends. And now both are on track to gross $70M apiece. That's pretty good.

WOM is more important than ever. After Scream 4 was over, a lot of people were talking excitedly about it as they left. So I think it has a good chance of holding well, regardless of the competition.

This movie's budget is $40 million anyway. It's already halfway to getting there.

^^
That's true, but I think it's safe to assume she's dead.

They could still get away with it though. :csad:

They pretty much had as much blood as the others didn't they?

I gotta say, that shot of Anderson crawling out of his car with the wound and Ghostface behind him with that music felt so Scream to me.

Anyone notice how he said "****!" when he got stabbed in the head? :funny:

Ironically had this been one of those torture porn flicks that the movie often skewered, it probably would have made more. It's sad when we actually are in a day and age where our horror movies have to be dumbed down.

Ghostface was a lot more menacing in this one.
There were a couple of times where he just stood back and watched the victim suffer.

It really is sad. People nowadays just want the gore. They don't want to think. :down
