I wouldn't mind seeing that... They could at least have one where [BLACKOUT]the boyfriend survives[/BLACKOUT].

[blackout]They did that in the third one kind of when Doctor McDreamy survived.[/blackout]

They just dropped that plot thread, understandably so.

I still think the third would have been better if Dempsey was the killer. Or he was working with Roman. Stu coming back was a good idea too.

Horrible. Any faith I had left in Wes Craven is officially dead. Scream 3 felt like Halloween compared to this. THE only thing I'd give it is that at least the killer's motivation when taken in context of this gen especially seemed plausible and not like a reach compared to the third. That and the fact that I laughed like a mad man when the killer was working on the set up. It was like "wait till you see why this coffee table is here" LMAO. For these reasons I rated it a 2 and not a 1 but overall I was left saying "what a piece of ****" and wish that I had seen Hanna instead.

Felt like Campbell, Cox and Arquette were playing the body-snatcher versions of Sidney, Gail and Dewey.

Didn't feel any of their character traits this time around, and, and if it wasn't for the fact that it was the same three actors returning, I'd have sworn these were three different characters.

I really hope that word of mouth helps this movie improve at the BO over the coming weeks. I'm surprised it isn't performing that well. I'd love to get two more sequels that are as good as this.

What felt off for you about Sidney?

I can understand Dewey as he really had nothing to do in this movie other than standard Cop stuff. Reacting to phone calls, and just showing up at crime scenes. Definitely Dewey's weakest movie.

Well if the reaciton of audience I saw it with is any indication of general audience feedback, don't expect good word of mouth on this one. All I heard were groans & boos when the end credits came up. Not that the groans weren't justified.

I felt so sorry for them and Hayden P. They all deserved much better than that extremely flawed script. **** so did the audience considering how long it's been since the last one.

My crowd was cheering and screaming and having a good time. They all liked it

Neve seemed like she wasn't even there and I know she has never been the most dynamic actress or anything but at least in the others she had some presence. Seemed like she was alive and not bored out of her mind like in this one.

Well I am in NYC so I would say it is a bit of a tough crowd compared to other regions. Still I've seen the others at the theaters, only time I ever seen them really and remember that all got favorable reactions by the end even part 3. I was actually surprised that so many other people walked out pissed and not just me.

Hey Cain. I assume you didn't like the movie overall then? Where would you rank it in the series?

Not at all Joker. I'd rank them all in order of release so this one is definitely dead last.

I strongly disagree. I do think that Courtney Cox was taking it pretty easy in this film as Gale. But Neve Campbell and David Arquette (who had little to work with) clearly put their 100% in playing their signature characters. Watching Neve as Sidney again was a breath of fresh air. She was completely Sidney Prescott and it was like seeing an old friend again for the first time in years. Same goes with Arquette as Dewy, even if he had little to do.

I would agree that Courtney Cox was coasting in this movie, but I think she had the least amount of screentime of the original three, so it worked out.

P.S. I can't imagine how somebody would think Scream 3 is better than this movie.

Very easy and I'll tell you this as someone who as I said before hasn't watched any of the movies since their original releases. I could still remember Parker Posey's awesome performance as the actress that played Gail and the kick ass Cotton Weary opening. Which was easily the second best opening in the entire series.

That alone makes it superior to this one. Which was just pretty forgetable overall. Hell the opening to this new one was pathetic. For a series who's signature is memorable & engaging openings that was a poor showing. I understand these movies are satirical therefore metatextual but there is also such a thing as overkill and when it came to meta this movie falls in that dept. I get it you named a character Loomis once so you dare name another ANTHONY PERKINS ha ha ha. But then you had **** like giving the Roberts chick the last name of ROBERTS in the movie and most especially the lame beginning. It just reached face palming levels of obnoxiousness to me.

Well, it's all relative. I couldn't name a single actor (outside of the core three) from Scream 3, and thought the opening with Liev was terrible.

Hell, the opening from Scream 2 with Jada Pinkett sucked too. The first one is the only one with a really memorable opening.

Blasphemy! The opening with Jada and Omar was awesome, IMO. It was made even more tense because they never saw it coming. Like the victims in Halloween or Psycho, they had no idea they were in the vicinity of the killer. Plus Jada was killed in front of a bunch of screaming Ghostfaces who thought it was all just an act.

That alone made it more unique and intense for me than Casey's or Cotton's deaths, which I both loved, too.

Jada and Omar's opening was awesome.

I love how EVERYONE in the thread talks about how you get crowds coming out excitedly then there that one random person who hated the movie who it suddenly becomes that his screening is the only screening that hated the movie. It just always makes me laugh. :o

The only reason Scream 3's opening is memorable is because they killed Cotton, a fan favorite who saved the day in Scream 2. Otherwise it was a pretty-by-the-numbers slasher sequence.

I think Scream 2 is the only one that comes close to Scream 1's opener (the tragedy of nobody helping Jada's character in a movie theater, but cheering her death is disturbing and painful to watch. It's also a brilliant deconstruction of slasher fans).

But while S4's opening was a bit too-funny the rest of it was far better than the trying-to-be-funny borefest of Scream 3. And the ending of Scream 4 was brilliant.

Lastly Parker Posey was fun but a little too meta wink-wink in Scream 3. Kirby and Jill were far better characters, in my opinion.

I did enjoy the opening, it basically had a feel of a Kevin Smith thing almost. The red herrings were obvious from jump, even if you still had that subset of the audience who were still fooled by it, which still cracks me up.

Hey jackass if you're gonna try and pop **** about someone why not call them out by name. I have no reason to lie about something that actually happened. There have been plenty of times that people have loved movies that I hated at a screener (like Transformers). Conversely I could easily say "it's funny how there is always some prick that feels that it's impossible for a large group of people to have disliked something he had loved."

Don't get the thread closed, kids.

This I definitely could agree with. It was pretty clever. I liked Hayden's character too. Actually the only one I liked in the whole movie, just wish she had been in a better movie. Emma Roberts felt terribly one dimensional to me. So when the climax finally arrived I truly didn't give a fig.

Wow. I hit a nerve. It wasn't specifically stated about you only in this thread, but on the Hype in general it just happens. The one person who hated the film beyond all hatred, gets the magical theatre full of people with his same opinion.

Did you know that despite the box office numbers, that the Cinemascore for Scream 4 is a B-? That is has a 7.6 on IMDB? 78 percent of people who saw it on Rotten Tomatoes liked it? A- from Yahoo Movies! Users.

Funny that, considering if by YOU'RE movie experience you'd think it'd be doing worse there. S'all I'm saying.

Won't happen I won't even address that crap anymore. I know how extra sensitive the rule makers get around here sometimes and I respect it after all it's not MY board. I just needed to get that out the system though cause it was pretty annoying to see.
