Interesting. In the commentary track, Wes confirms that the original opening Kevin wrote was with Sidney and her friends having a party at her place to celebrate the publishing of her book. She gets attacked by Ghostface and is horribly stabed. Then the movie takes place 3 years after the opening. But Bob Weinstein didn't like that at all and thought there was too much of a gap in the story so he had kevin rewrite it lol.

I have to agree with Bob on that one.

I'm glad that was changed, it would've been terrible, IMO.

I like the idea of Sidney being a mom and her kid is menaced by the new Ghostface. I think it'd give the movie an edge and a freshness.

I actually wouldn't mind that as well.

That's too much of a leap forward, in my opinion, especially after just catching up with the characters 10+ years after the events of Scream 3.

I'm surprised and saddened (other than that written opening) on how much Bob has say in final product. He controls Wes and Kevin way to much for it being their fourth film and a flash in a pan series for the fellow. Bob is too lucky to have this wonderful franchise under his company...

Yes, the alternate opening was so much better than the one we got. Great movie, nonetheless.

I think they should've combined the alternate opening with the chase into the garage from the reshoot. I personally really did dig the "dumb blond" IQ joke in the final version's opening, but exchanging it for the couch death would have made the movie better. I think her friend's death was too quick after the couch in the alternate ending, but they could have just had her be the one who dies in the garage after a chase.

I also wish they kept the scene on the fountain that was such a nice callback to Scream 1. Oh well.

That fountain scene though had some pretty rough acting from all the kids involved in it and it just might be my knowledge that Charlie's one of the killer's but it pretty much paints a huge ****ing target on him and points ''HE'S ONE OF THE KILLERS".

I like the opening we got. The idea of catching up with the characters after 10 years...Sidney being stabbed...then jumping ahead a few years again would be too much.

They would of been better. There's a few of the deleted scenes I wish made the final cut.

Ahh! I can't wait to see this! I'm not sure when I'll get my blu-ray yet, I know I want to get the trilogy set too. In good time I suppose. Maybe the gag reel will pop up on YouTube soon.

Anyone think Dewey's expressions were kind of odd when he is talking to Jill in the hospital. When I first saw the film i had the indication he knew everything, Sid was alive and about to come in the room and finish Jill off.
