I’m rather pleased with how little the trailer actually gave us. I feel like I’ve seen quite a few reactions to the effect of “But does it feel like Scream? Where’s the this, where’s the that, etc.” But, like, stop for a second and consider whether we’ve all just gotten too used to trailers that give us the entire goddamn movie in 90-120 seconds.
Absolutely love this shot. Especially the way it’s edited in the trailer with Dewey walking towards Ghostface with a gun. It looks like Ghostface is teasing him.
Kane, could you make this avatar size capable?
This is such a classic Scream shot right here!
This is such a classic Scream shot right here!
Yes!It reminds me of ghostface chasing Tyson in the house at the end of scream 3! Love it
I know it's a teaser, so they can be a little vague, but I wish they gave us a little more what it will be about. If I weren't a Scream fan and an average moviegoer, this would look like just another Scream movie. What's the hook? Why should someone care to see a new installment after all this time? This franchise isn't SW level or even Halloween. It didn't help the fourth flopped.
The movie itself looks good, well shot and such, just hard to tell what it is. I also wish there was some macabre, witty humor in it that really makes it distinguish it as Scream. It makes it just look like a horror film. I do hope the next trailer tells us more. Hopefully this also distinguishes itself from Scream 4. The fourth was kind of an inadvertent legacy sequel without trying to be one even if it was about remakes. I hope there's a good reason for returning to Woodsboro and using another new teen cast. How are they gonna do it? I'll keep an open mind, and I'm there opening day, but this teaser didn't do much for me.
Usually 2… other than Roman. Helps build rivalry or jealousy post-reveal.So one killer or two?
), Mrs. Loomis and Jill needed Mickey and Charlie to frame.I think the idea that the killer is targeting people related to the original killers is probably the juicy reveal of this trailer. That's not necessarily a direction I've seen anyone predicting, and it leaves a lot of interesting possibilities open to what the possible motive might be. The motives in these films are always related to whatever the movie is trying to comment on, but I wouldn't want to know that before I see it because it would probably make the killer easier to guess.
We'll see how it performs, but honestly I think the film should be in a better position to succeed than Scream 4 was. Since a lot of people skipped seeing 4 in theaters, this might be a lot of people's first opportunity to see a Scream on the big screen or at least first time in a long time, so that alone is a selling point. You also had the MTV show keeping the franchise alive over the past decade for a new audience. I think the time gap has also allowed for the reputation for the original to grow even more and reach a new generation (and honestly, even Scream 4 has somewhat grown in a lot of people's estimation). Lastly, horror in general is arguably bigger than its ever been, so I feel like there's more of a built-in appetite. And this one looks like it's actually trying to be scary.
As long as the word of mouth is good, I think the film is in a position to do well. It was trending #1 yesterday.
What was the twist? If they stole Williamson's original Scream 3 twist, I'd be okay with that. That was just a brilliant escalation after the second one. If Scream 3 was made that way, we would have had a consistently quality horror franchise.
“Anything that you might think is a spoiler in this, there’s a good chance you’re wrong. There are misdirects within the movie. There are misdirects within the trailer.”
