Scream 5 in Development

So nice to hear you loved it! I'm seeing it tomorrow night. quick question, do you think anybody can predict the final act of the movie?

I think there are certain elements that might be predictable but I really don’t think anyone could guess the exact way it unfolds. I was smiling like a dork and I audibly laughed at one moment because it was just so savage and badass. I really think scream fans are gonna love this movie. As someone who loves the original trilogy and has a lot of problems with scream 4, this is the movie I was waiting for!

haha so good to hear! I remember loving Scream 4 when I watched in theaters, but over time it's easily the weakest of the franchise for me so I'm happy this movie seems to be amazing to some so far.

I've been reading the spoiler free reviews and a lot of them say that the killer or killers are very obvious from the get-go. Do you agree?

Beware folks, Entertainment Weekly may have just spoiled something considerably big in the movie. I read it, and while it's probably not the biggest thing, it's certainly something I don't think people want to know.

I mean I really don’t wanna spoil too much for you but yeah I will say I wasn’t completely shocked by the reveal. However I do think the reveal works very well regardless of that. I think they did a good job at keeping you guessing however there is one moment earlier in the film that both me and my boyfriend picked up on that gives it away slightly in my opinion. But then again scream 1 did this a bit too so I think it might have been intentional

I just read it and yeah I think I know the thing you mean. I certainly had no idea that was going to be in the movie and was one of the bigger surprises for me so yeah, definitely stay away from that review if you don’t wanna be spoiled because it’s a surprisingly big plot element

Ngl, with all these good reviews I'm very intrigued now and may catch this at the cinema. I always enjoyed the Scream franchise. Particularly love Scream 1 and 2, and even kinda enjoy Scream 3 though its by far the weakest entry.

Notice one jab the critics are throwing is that the movie isn't scary but that doesn't bother me as I never thought any of the Screams were that scary. They always felt more like thrillers with a horror bent.

I'll tell you what. I would prefer a less shocking reveal if it made sense and the character or characters are actively present throughout the film than what they did in Scream 2 when Mickey disappeared the entire second half of the film. That was my only knock on Scream 2, though I admit Timothy Olyphant becoming a bigger star since that movie has retroactively made the reveal feel more impactful.

Even though Halloween has always been my favorite horror film, I think I've come to the conclusion that Scream is probably my all time favorite horror franchise.

Boxoffice prospects looking good. Critics loving it (not that i care). 2022 is off to a good start. Lets hope this continues throughout the year.

I’m seeing it this Saturday. Have high expectations for this one. First time I’ll be seeing a Scream film in a cinema since Scream 2 in 1997. Sneaked in as a 14y.o. with my older brother and then gf (now wife) even though it was a solid ‘R’! That was a great film experience for me. Watching it with them again, and my partner this time.

Avoiding spoilers and reviews from now on!

Seeing this tomorrow night at 7pm. Only need to remain spoiler free until then, so close...

Same...I'm like...legit afraid to even open Youtube until I see it tomorrow. The day No Way Home came out I had leaked cam pic thumbnails in my feed.

The Woodsboro Horror Club FB group. It's officially affiliated with the studio so you'd think the admins would be on top of that.

Wow I was about to join that group as it came up as a recommendation on my feed. Thank you for indicating this but so sorry they spoiled it for you!

I just came from the theater. While the Samantha actress is such a miscast for me and it took a while for me to accept the beginning, the 3rd act is super strong! What an emotional roller coaster!

My boyfriend isn’t even a massive scream fan and he said the same thing after we watched it. He felt Sam was out-acted by almost everyone else in the movie and just came off a bit dull compared to the other new cast and the OG’s

I liked her but yeah she wasn’t the stand out for me. The standouts apart from the OG’s were the twins (LOVED them) and also Tara, surprisingly. I agree about the third act, so ****ing good.

Ok non spoiler review as a HUGE Scream fan. Definitely best one since original and I personally loved Scream 2. I actually really liked Samantha. I liked all the new cast very solid but the twins were standout. Avoid spoilers at all cost if you can go in with no spoilers like I did it makes for an amazing experience. And the 3rd act is really something else. 9/10
