Scream 5 in Development

Is it just me or are Ghostface’s arm dangles a lot long and have more character than ever before? I love it.

I noticed that the cloak looks more frayed than usual. It looks older…

I'm gonna be really sad if/when Dewey bites it. Trailer sure hinting hard in that direction.

I totally get that the original trio has cheated death for an almost comically long time now and one of them probably has to go to give this one some teeth, but the core 3 surviving each film is a big part this franchise's charm for me and what separates it from other slasher franchises. Sidney on her own is arguably the GOAT final girl, but it's also the relationships between Sid, Gale and Dewey that are the heart of this franchise. One of the things I did love about 4 was how they turned the remake/reboot on its head and the original trio were the only survivors.

But they've already played that card once...

Raise your hand if you ever were Ghostface for Halloween. I know a lot of us had to be at least once. I was.
I put my og Ghostface mask on the little shelf thing in the back window of my Mini Cooper this week… usually all month I place my recently converted Michael Myers mask back there.

Looks like a pretty standard Scream movie to me. I am sure it will be fine.

Damn, that mask still rocks. In the darkness with that black outfit, and the head slightly tilted... I think is the most scary of the classic slasher killers' looks.
Jason and Michael are both too slow. Ghostface just goes at you. That is far more scarier and they used that to great effect in this trailer too. Glad my favorite horror series is still going.

Great trailer and damn they actually made Ghostface feel scary again and brutal asf which is something I haven't felt in these movies since Scream 2 honestly and this looks alot better than I was expecting.

I'm also already loving what they are doing with the Sidney in this aswell as the rest of the OG cast because to me it definitely feels like they will have bigger roles than in Scream 4.
Well there was that scene in Scream 4 when he painted that girl's room with her guts. That was probably the most grisly gorey death in the series.

I keep rewatching it just to enjoy the cinematography. It feels updated and modern, but in a good way. So far I'm having 0 problems buying in on this being set in the same world as the originals.

It really is beautiful, isn't it? Clean, good contrast, no weird filters -- reminds me of Mark Irwin's lensing on the first one.

Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster, and huge scream fan!

I loved this trailer and loved seeing the OG’s again. This definitely looks like it has more of an edge to it and more like a straight up horror movie which I like. This isn’t a negative in any way but based on the trailer this movie sort of seems like a scream 4 redux? Going back to woodsboro, a young new cast, the og’s being the mentor characters, this being a semi reboot of the franchise, sidney being viewed as a legendary survivor etc. Feels like this might be an alternate take on what scream 4 could have (or should have) been, taken into a different direction, which is interesting.

I definitely think at least one of the OG’s is dying in this one, and I feel like this may be the last movie to feature the big 3 regardless. Anyway this looks like a huge improvement over scream 4 and hopefully brings back the feel of the original trilogy (praying for red right hand to be used again). So glad scream is back!

Hype, let’s go. Scream was my gateway horror movie. To say I’m excited for this would be an understatement.

I liked that trailer quite a bit. Seemed pretty standard horror movie, so I'm curious to see what they do to turn the genre on its head like previous movies.

I’m rather pleased with how little the trailer actually gave us. I feel like I’ve seen quite a few reactions to the effect of “But does it feel like Scream? Where’s the this, where’s the that, etc.” But, like, stop for a second and consider whether we’ve all just gotten too used to trailers that give us the entire goddamn movie in 90-120 seconds.

God damn, this looks so good. Looks like it has more of an edge than Scream 3 and 4 which I love. You can tell from the editing they’re trying to hide stuff which I think is great. I hope they keep the rest of the marketing that way too. Can’t wait. Oh and that really quick shot of Gale crying :omg:.

Edit: Oh and I loved that girl in the opening cutting off the call from an unknown number :funny:.

I'm loving the shots with the camera tilted to the side. Specially the one with Ghostface in what appears to be a hospital hallway.

It will be new and different at least, and better than killing a character off-screen.

@Kane52630 Can we get some new Ghostface gifs?

Really want to see more of his cloak/robe. It doesn't have the sparkles of the previous robes (which I always loved). Almost looks old and/or homemade this time.

I can’t stop watching the trailer lol. Another thing I loved is that Sidney seems to have her spunk back in this one. One of my biggest issues with scream 4 is that sidney’s character just seemed so flat, tired and exhausted, and was missing the fire she had in the first 3 movies. I love that it seems like she is actively seeking out ghostface in this one and is ready to fight.

They didn’t show a lot of gale in the trailer but I hope that’s not an indication of her importance in the story because I really want to see her have another iconic chase scene with ghostface similar to the film school chase of scream 2 (my personal favourite movie scene ever)

Based on what’s said in the trailer and now this, I’m guessing Gallner is a relative of Stu.
I was about to say I didn’t see him in the trailer but I think he’s the guy being terrorised by Ghostface with the car. He looks a lot different now from his Jennifer’s Body/A Nightmare on Elm Street days.

Also noticed there’s a brief shot of a very distressed Marley Shelton. Wonder if that’s a reaction to something happening to her or to something happening to someone else.

Ok this trailer is growing on me. It feels less goofy than the last couple of movies.

I might be in the minority here but David Gordon Greene turned me into a addict for wiping the crappy sequel slate clean and making a true followup to the original. It’s happened with Halloween and Candyman so far. Exorcist is next. I wish they’d pull the same gimmick with A Nightmare On Elm Street (only counting the original and Dream Warriors, then making a new one with Patricia Arquette and Robert England).

I’m sure there will be some minor callbacks or Easter eggs to the sequels because the directors are fans of the whole franchise. But it would be awesome if this Scream felt like a movie you can watch right after OG Scream. Especially since this one deals with the original killers.

He’s got a real Skeet look, wonder if he’s tied to the Loomis family somehow.
