Horror Scream Queens - Ryan Murphy Horror-Comedy Gets Series Order at FOX

Didn't Murphy say that only 4 survived? So was he just trolling then?

He said 4 would move on to the second season, if one was ordered, but I can't remember if he ever actually specified that those 4 would be the only survivors. I also seem to recall there being a press release very early on that this would be 15 episodes long, when, in the end, we only got 13. Sort of makes me wonder if FOX cut them off when they saw those initial ratings. The ending we got was passable, but it felt like it wasn't quite final enough. I could definitely believe that there were two extra episodes in mind, only to get cut short.

If that's actually the case, I have to imagine that doesn't mean anything good for the show's second season chances.

I have to admit, the final bummed me out. I enjoyed a lot of the moments, but considering everyone pretty much guessed the killer in the first episode, it ended up being as lame as I feared it would. Still loved the series, but the final episode didn't do it for me.

I have no qualms with the episode (liked it better than alot of the recents eps) or the reveal, I just think there was more to the story that, for some reason, we're not seeing.

I was glad the Chanel's ended up happy. Terrible as they were, they were an endearing bunch. I was glad Grace didn't show up as much as I thought she would early on. In a world over over the top characters, Grace's screen time was a total drag.

(I totally wrote 'scream time' by accident)

It was alright I was really only watching for JLC and Niecy Nash I'm interested in seeing if this gets a second season.

That scene with Chad and Denise was golden.

I hope it gets one (second season). It was a fun ride.

This was the first time in the season where I really loved #5. *****ing about Tindr when she should've been worried about being killed by the Red Devil. :lmao: Grace's dad still liking Pete even after finding out he was a murderer was also pretty funny.

I still think Denise or the dean should've been killed in previous episodes. The body count wasn't high enough. I'm glad Chad and all the Chanels survived, though.

I was surprised Grace's dad ended up with the Dean. I was convinced he was playing her the entire time, but then they're off to Europe together. He was an odd character.

With Wayward Pines only just getting a second season renewal, I wonder how long we'll have to wait before we know whether this is dead or not.

I hope we only get Chad Radwell in a American Psycho meets Risky Business spin-off.

The finale was a crazy 2 part exposition fest, first Hester getting away with it and going through her whole plan, and then Chanel revealing that actually the plan partly backfired as her and her minions loved living in the asylum lol. When Denise Hemphill is around your evidence certainly doesn't need to be concrete!

I have to give the writers credit, every time I thought Grace's dad had reached his ceiling they found ways to make him even creepier and more inappropriate. :funny:

The show gave Lea Michele a chance to show more and she was excellent as Hester, I loved the scene when she claimed the neck brace as her equivalent of Jason's Hockey mask.

The two highlights were Chad and Denise's break-up and Chanel #5's parents selling her out and framing her for murder. :lmao:

Hopefully we get a season 2 with the summer camp storyline, I imagine the 4 carryovers will be Grace, Zayday, Chad and Hester.

I wouldn't mind them putting Season 2 on during the summer rather than the fall.

Need to catch up with this.

It's kind of funny how both this and MTV's Scream presented themselves as a slasher movie every week, only to end both of their seasons with most of their casts still intact.

Technically, a lot of slashing went on in Scream Queens though.

I didn't bother much with Scream series. First episode was dumb and too horribly acted for my liking.

I don't know. The parts of SQ I liked, I liked a lot more than the parts I liked of Scream, but the parts of SQ that I hated, I hated a helluva lot more than the stuff I hated about Scream. It ran the extreme on both ends, which is par for the course with Ryan Murphy, I guess.

Thank Christ I'm not the only one who felt that way.

Literally the entirety of her character was being a b**** to everyone around her and any attempt they made to humanize her just fell flat for me.

While Chanel certainly started out that way, as the season went on I think we saw a lot of different sides to her. Even later still, we got to see genuine remorse for her previous attitude. I'd say by about the midway point Chanel became, at least to me, quite endearing, and one of the more likable characters. Certainly more interesting than Grace- objectively more layered and subjectively far more entertaining.

Ehhh... a flicker here and there that immediately went out by the next episode.

Being more interesting than Grace is a low bar. Ideally, I kind of wish the show hadn't been a whodunnit this whole time, and let us in on the fact that Hester was the Red Devil from the get-go, making her the main character in all this. She easily trumped both Chanel and Grace to me.

I'll agree with that, for sure. Hester was wildly entertaining, and Grace was...I mean I've mentioned it in this thread before, holy moly, what a completely dull character.

I thought the ending was convenient. I wouldn't have expected Chanel #6. I don't know. They seemed to flirt with the idea of it, then went away, leaving me really uncertain as to who it could be.

I was fine with the ending. I love whodunnits. Problem is, they didn't leave any clues in the show for people like me to try and figure it out. It was all unraveled in behind the scenes storytelling by Chanel #6.

If they do a second season, I think they should move on to another story. A camp or a, like scream, a horror fan club or something. Episodes could range from horror conventions, to the theatre, to haunted carnival rides, camping grounds, all the cliché places, plus nodding to fans with going to the movies and conventions or horror parties. I think that'd be more wild. It could go meta. Idk. Just thinking of an idea of where they could take it. Same world. Like American Horror Story, just each season is a different series, pretty much.

Then again, there may not be a second season-series.

I hope we only get Chad Radwell in a American Psycho meets Risky Business spin-off.
It's funny you should say that, because FX is thinking of making an American Psycho sequel tv series based on older Bateman having an apprentice. So, if that happens, to all the naysayers, he was actually killing people in the movie. No metaphors. Well, there's still metaphors, they just weren't purely metaphors. Or delusions.

They're not really naysayers, Bret Easton Ellis has said Bateman did kill people, and he's also said Bateman didn't kill anyone. When the author of the book can't make up his mind, or is possibly just toying with the audience, there's no right or wrong answer. I definitely prefer the ambiguity!
