SDCC 2007- Marvel Edition.

So Nothing really newsworthy.Anyone want to tell why Ellis is so bad for astonishing?I haven't read much of him but I hear he is really great. So what's the issue?Although I did drop his Iron Man Arc halfway through so that might be an indication. But still Explain.

Plain and simple, Ellis is a ****ing genius on creator owned work, but he can't for the life of him ever write people in character on established characters. I.E. Nextwave and Thunderbolts.

In short, he's Mark Millar.

I see I've wanted to read his created owned stuff for some time but my funds haven't permitted it.So Thunderbolts is good or bad?I haven't gotten into it but I'm curious.

personally, i hate it.

True words. Although, I liked Nextwave for what it was. Even if it was horribly inaccurate characterization.

In short, he's Mark Millar.

Yeah, you keep saying that. Maybe on the fifth time it'll be true.

Yeah, Mark Millar's creator owned work sucks ass, well to me at least.

And frankly, the premise rapes the comic book. Might as well call it something else.

Vastly different. Which is stupid, since the premise of the book is so simple and straightforward.

How's it different? Besides the fact that the main character is being played by a faun instead of Eminem....

NextW would've been better if it were just some funny, out of continuity thing. =/

I don't remember specifics, but there are supernatural elements introduced, something the chain of life or something.

Wait wait, it WAS out of continuity? I figured it was something like Fantastic Force, just not talked about.

It is not. Machine Man is showing in Ms Marvel with full on Nextwave characterization.

It's out of continuity. Stack showing up in Ms. Marvel as the Nextwave incarnation is probably due to most readers having that image of him.

Wait wait, it WAS out of continuity? I figured it was something like Fantastic Force, just not talked about.

As stated by Quesada:

Nextwave is considered to be a separate universe much in the same way the Ultimate titles are

Ugh, Bianchi on Astonishing? Why not just stick one of his Wolverine's 5-foot long claws straight up my ass.:csad:

Indifferent to Ellis. I'll probably keep buying that s**t just because after reading Morrison's and Whedon's runs, I actually, ugh...care about a few X-Men.:csad:

Maybe they'll actually color his art instead of going the more subdued route he's been using on Wolverine. And all his covers.

P.S. I hate Bianchi.

Except it's not. Monica showed up in BP in Nextwave status.

Oh and:

The Official Wanted Synopsis
Source: ComingSoon.net
November 3, 2006

ComingSoon.net has posted the official synopsis for Universal's adaptation of Mark Millar's Wanted, starring James McAvoy, and it goes something like this:

Based upon Mark Millar's explosive graphic novel series and helmed by the stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov--creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the "Night Watch" series--"Wanted" tells the story of one invisible drone's transformation into a dark avenger. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a superhero for a new millennium: Wesley Gibson.

25-year-old account manager Wes (James McAvoy) was the most pathetic, cube-dwelling hypochondriac the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend cheated on him daily and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this weakling would never amount to anything. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die a slow, clock-punching death.

Until he became Wanted.

After the murder of a father he never knew, Wes discovers powers beyond his dreams. He becomes the latest recruit in the Fraternity--a secret society of assassins--and develops lightning-quick reflexes with superhuman agility. Wes soon learns his league of henchmen has but one mission: carry out the death orders of the mythological Fates, weavers of every man's lifeline.

With wickedly brilliant tutors, he morphs into a killing machine and starts erasing one bad guy after another. But as Wes grows into the mantle passed down by his father...he discovers his clan members are not exactly the enforcers of justice they claim to be. Just as he gets everything he ever Wanted, Wesley Gibson will learn that with the ability to deliver death comes an even more difficult power...controlling your own life.

Shaztastic, because having Nextwave in continuity would be like having Tony Stark pretty much being alive in one comic, but not another.

Oh Darth, how a few seconds can interrupt posting flow. Now mine will be ignored, and yours out of place! Ho ho, fate! A cunning mistress.

Except it's not. Monica showed up in BP in Nextwave status.

Again, probably due to her being better known in that particular incarnation.
