Season 6, Episode 7 "The Broken Man" Discussion Thread

well, you cant say any episode is character focused... except like Watcher on the Wall... but from spoilers she is heavily featured in next episode.

I'm kind of confused on how you think watchers on the wall is character focused more than any other episode in this series! This whole show is character focused to me and it's one grand story that will wrap up together in the end! And every episode moves the story and characters forward from their last. Just my opinion of course

Okay... forget for a second the question of how the **** Arya is not dead.

Let's say somehow she gets sliced and then stabbed repeatedly in the stomach in such a way that no vital organs in her skinny body are harmed. Now her stomach muscles are shredded, she can't possibly stand up straight, much less fight and head-butt that chick the way she does in that scene. Absolutely laughable and ridiculous.

Good point!

But maybe this was all "planned" as someone said. A friend said she must have had plastic bags full of goatblood taped to her belly! :oldrazz:

Just stopping by to throw in a reminder to everyone....this thread is for discussing GoT....if you want to get into a pissing contest with other posters, you will find that crap like that upsets me....and you will not like me when I'm upset.

Arya is brilliant. I believe she went back to the acting troupe and got some of that fake "blood in a bag" ,backed it with some padding and maybe some armor and then lured the waif into attacking her. And now she has made a very public display of her "dying". This should get the Faceless men off her trail. (although not for long according to the previews)
There's no way she is naive enough at this point in her life to have acted in the manner that she did if she wasn't setting this act up.

Oh and for a twist..what if next week's trial by combat we have Cersei's champion Frankenmountain vs the High Sparrow's champion Tommen?
Tommen dies,Marjery takes the throne. (she will have to consumate the marriage first though.)

Oh. The only thing I can figure is they wanted to include it this week so we would have to wait a week to see what happens next.

My issue with the scene is that it exists at all. This week or next week it'd a problem. It amazes me that D&D don't see the issue with stuff like this. That they can let one episode end with Arya having finally decided to take control of her situation then they let the very next episode make her look like a clueless rookie. Sure they want shock value and to remind us that at any time a person can have the ground pulled out from under them, but that's been established enough. They don't need to make a character look like a clueless idiot to do it.

And the odd thing is that in the preview for next week's episode we see her leaping off a ledge onto a lower street so I have to assume she is healed by someone of some thing. So either she was injured purely for shock value or she was injured or this injury leads to her crossing paths with someone that saves her and that somehow leads to wherever Arya's story is going next. But no matter what comes of this it doesn't change the fact that the scene will always be a moment when Arya was amazingly foolish. Ugh.

And don't even get me started on how the Sansa and Jon scenes let all the energyvout of that plot line.

On another note, I enjoyed Mcshane in this episode, and his death is going to lead to some hopefully great Hound carnage, but damn...

Who the **** wrote and directed this episode?

I'd prefer Ser Pounce champion for the Faith.

So, who was Sansa writing to?

I too believe she wrote to littlefinger! I could tell she never wanted to have to do that but they are in desperation. Maybe Peter knew they would come to him anyways lol but we will see I guess

Appreciate you coming in here Lee!! Thank you

I love this episode.

Exactly.. the whole scene was pointless and shouldn't have been included, in this episode or the next for that matter (though i said it would fit better in next episode)

I love this episode.

Lyanna Mormont for the Iron Throne

She was something wasn't she! Great child actor. Well at least for this role. Very impressed. Did a lot better then Bran when he was ruling winterfell in everyone's absence :lmao:

I can understand and respect your understanding!!

I guess all I could respond about is I understand she isn't Arya season 1...but she is still a little foolish and careless to me and some people hardly change so I guess it doesn't quite shock me this happened to her. But I see your point :yay:

Can't wait to see what happens

People do grow and learn a lot (especially during childhood and adolescence) and while some people detest the show's timeline (lol) each season is supposed to be approximately a year there due the child actors growing up.

I can agree that certain traits like her vindictive and vengeful nature hasn't and likely will not change any time soon, but it seems like some of the lessons with this cult have helped her to tune her awareness. She's wiser in a number in different ways for the experience, including I think streetwise to some degree. And sure, anyone can make a foolish mistake, even characters much older than her, but I just can't see her making this rather lethal one of strolling through Braavos in broad daylight like that when she knows what the cost of betrayal is. I fully expected her to be keeping a low profile and hiding her face somehow, so I'm unpleasantly surprised that she didn't.

But I can't wait to see what happens either. I'm extremely fond of this character and her exit from Braavos has been near the top of my Season Wishlist, so however it has to happen I just want her on a ship to King's Landing ASAP.

In Bran's defense he was new at the job. But yeah totally love the kid who played her. I was surprised to see her in the war camp too.

Sir Davos, yet again uncle of the year.

For the record, he's been my favorite character for a while now. Glad to see him still alive.

I only know about the Arya scene because I watched it on youtube. I honestly haven't watched an entire episode since the season premier. Sadly I just have no interest in it.

I'm just eagerly awaiting that youtube clip of an angry Wun Wun ripping a screaming Ramsey in half with his bare hands

This is a real low point for this season...for the show. Jaime and Bronn were about the only worthwhile scenes in this episode. God, I hope this isn't a portent of the sort of quality we can expect from the next 3 episodes.

So she knew she was going to be stabbed with a knife (and not attacked with any number of other weapons or methods) in the gut specifically and on that bridge so that she could jump off of it?

:funny:

:funny:

Arya: got this blood in a bag, i'm so tricky

Assassin: *slices Arya across the throat, dumps her body in the river like any normal assassin would do*

THE END

i can hear anger growing at people pointing out the silly things... :lmao:

People didn't like this episode?

I thought this episode was great. Cool scheming. The north remembers. Blackfish v Kingslayer. The Hound. Lady Olenna roasting Cersei.
