When Barry and Iris deal with the loss of their daughter, the team faces their greatest threat yet - one that threatens to destroy all of Central City; Killer Frost has a brush with death that will change her relationship with Caitlin

Well that red herring should pay off later.

I loved the Flash Gordon song too :funny:

Not a bad premiere at all. Ramsey seems interesting so far and I swore the Black Hole was going to be connected to him in some way.

That Godspeed tease has to lead somewhere later this season, no?

We didn't get a great look at the new suit in action, unfortunately, but it looked good in the brief time we did see it.

Next week should be very interesting.

I can't believe it has taken them over 5 seasons to use that song. :funny:

Enjoyed the premiere. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised at how much focus Crisis looks like it's gonna get during the early part of this season. So much for my go-to move of telling people all they have to watch is Elseworlds to be prepped, lol.

I'm surprised they didn't use the KISS song Into The Void from Psycho Circus.

Good setup for the season as they already get into the Crisis setup. I think the Monitor is stirring the pot between Barry and Oliver because he told both of them separately that they will die, yet Barry is unaware of Oliver's deal with Monitor.

Caitlin is finding balance between herself and Killer Frost while Ralph is leaning closer to the comics.

Can't wait for next week.

Flash sort of has to deal with the upcoming Crisis since he's supposed to vanish, :funny:

Isn't it interesting to see both Supegirl and Flash dealing with villains who can make Black Holes?

It is, sort of; it resembles the eclipse from the Heroes series logo. They seem to like making references like that on these DC shows.

Having just watched this episode, I can honestly say that I wish Iris West had been utilized in this fashion from the beginning where her skills as a investigative journalist contributed towards the main plot. Her role as a reporter and how it contributes to Team Flash definitely feels more organic than seeing her being the field leader.

If they can keep the tone of this season to the level that was shown in this premiere, then I think that the show may have a chance of recapturing its lost groove.

Killer Frost needs a name, and Ralph needs his Sue. Problem solved.

The thing with Iris being field leader turned me off for the last few seasons. This is the Iris we should have gotten from the start.

Does anyone else find it ... amusing that in six years, the Star Labs building (externals) still haven't been fixed? :p

I would certainly hope so. They wasted the character in the future, and they wasted him again in this episode. There's got to be a payoff somewhere.

Good setup for the season as they already get into the Crisis setup. I think the Monitor is stirring the pot between Barry and Oliver because he told both of them separately that they will die, yet Barry is unaware of Oliver's deal with Monitor.
I think he's placing his bets. For some reason, there needs to be a sacrifice, he knows Ollie is willing to make the sacrifice play, and he thinks(?) that Barry needs to make it. Maybe he's just keeping his options open and preparing for one or the other, rather than relying on Ollie? Between the two of them (Barry & Ollie) Ollie could get hit by a bus and die, whereas Barry would survive it.

I think the real godspeed is sending back clones to have an army to fight flash later this season since he's not as fast as the flash. When I say real godspeed, not the guy who was revealed last year but a mystery identity to throw the team off. I like bloodwork and the crisis buildup but I hope this season has the focus of season 1 and 2 and doesn't go off the rails mid year.

I'm not so sure about that, simply because it would be easier(?) for him to make a bunch of time remnants if he wanted to defeat the Flash in a team building exercise.

In any case, if Barry is supposed to die this year (which he now is) the future that these Godspeeds are coming from shouldn't even factor in a threat from Barry Allen.

Yeah but we both know barry isn't dying and if he does he wont be dead long.

We know that, as does everyone watching the show, but the characters should have established that if people aren’t coming back from the future to fight Barry, then he can’t possibly be a threat TO the future.

I just watched it, and enjoyed it. I skipped last season, because of how bad the first few episodes were, so I stopped, but I think I'll stick with this season unless it starts to go downhill like last season.

With that out of the way, I like how Cisco doesn't have powers, and he's now the funny science guy behind the desk once again. They actually utilized Flash to be the main hero, and I'm diggin his new suit. I thought the Queen song was great and loooong overdue, but overall, it was just an enjoyable premiere for the new season. I just hope the rest of the season will be of similar quality. Good stuff.

Yeah I’m in agreement with most here, this seems to be a solid step in the right direction. I’m really hoping this season having a new showrunner really pans out because this show needs a breath of fresh air.

Glad to see they’re possibly setting up some stuff for the future beyond Bloodwork with the Godspeed stuff. Another speedster isn’t inherently interesting, but it’ll be nice to have another important plot line running along side as a secondary thing becoming a primary thing later on. Conceptually that was one of the better things of last season, too bad they flubbed that with Cicada out staying his/her welcome. Hope that doesn’t happen here.

Great use of the Queen song, I laughed out loud. The Crisis tease was great, I’m really looking forward to seeing how they handle the weight of what Barry might have to do. The couple of times they delved into that last season were really good. I think it makes for really interesting character stuff.

Looming forward to seeing how this all pans out.

Which red herring was that?

They also mentioned the phrase "Event Horizon" which was the title of Supergirl's episode.

Killer Frost needs a name, and Ralph needs his Sue. Problem solved.

How about Chiller Frost? It sounds close enough phonetically to Killer Frost but omits the killer element.

On another note, why does Sendil Ramamurthy always put on a British accent? He rarely uses his real American accent such that his American one even starts sounding fake at times.

Good setup for the season as they already get into the Crisis setup. I think the Monitor is stirring the pot between Barry and Oliver because he told both of them separately that they will die, yet Barry is unaware of Oliver's deal with Monitor.

Did the Monitor actually say that this version of Barry would die? I thought he said that Flash would die, which (given the multiverse) has potential (perhaps deliberate) for misinterpretation similar to the Delphic prophecy that "a great empire will fall".

Betting on the Earth-90 Flash to be the one to die.
