Okay so we know Catman, Deadshot, Scandal, and Ragdoll are returning. Simone has said that a Batman villain will also be part of the crew...for a little while, at least.

Mad Hatter, maybe? Back for revenge?

If they'd announced this a year ago, I'd be stoked.

Now, Ostrander is back, and I don't ever want to read a Deadshot not written by Ostrander again.

You obviously didn't read Gage's Deadshot miniseries. Having tried reading Raise the Flagg, I'll be set never reading another Ostrander book again.

Seriously, that mini was AWESOME. And Hatter was a member already, so I assume someone else.

Ostrander MADE Deadshot who he is today. No writer can outwrite him when it comes to Floyd.

I don't think Gage got that memo. He outwrote the hell out of Ostrander.

Ostrander does deserve a lot of credit for who Deadshot is, because he made Deadshot who he is. However, Gage also wrote a hell of a miniseries for Deadshot, and I don't think Simone is too shabby at all. Just because Ostrander might be the best at writing him, that doesn't mean there aren't also other good Deadshot writers. It's like just because Kelly is the best Superman writer today, it doesn't mean Johns isn't also a damn good Superman writer.

Gage is the best at writing Deadshot.

Johns blows ass at writing Superman.

And you blow ass at writing internet forum posts.

Johns is pretty good with Superman, but he sucks with Clark Kent.

He's working with the ******** Donner and Busiek gave him. It'll take awhile to shed that ****.

I doubt that. As far as I can tell, the doofus, movie-esque Clark is a recent change, so if he could just randomly be changed into that, what's the big deal about randomly changing him back to normal? Johns consciously decided not to all on his own in the Legion arc.

Please. You can't even compare the second mini to the first.

I'm not saying Simone/Gage can't write Deadshot well, I'm saying Ostrander is doing it better, and a title like Secret Six means we can't get Ostrander's Deadshot. A Deadshot I prefer over Simone's.

So wouldn't that then be the case with, y'know, every single writer on Earth who isn't Ostrander? That's setting a pretty...strict...standard on who is or isn't allowed to write the guy.

I really like the Villains United story, but I thought that Secret Six didn't live up to the first mini series. It was sad to see Parademon perish in Villains United. I will give this new series a chance, but it seems some stories are left as a one time mini series. Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters would be another series that was better left as a one time deal. Don't get me wrong, I love the characters in both series, but the story didn't seem to be there.

Yep, right up until Ostrander retires. Every writer that wants to use the character should phone Ostrander and have him go over the script.

It would be really nice if it worked that way, with characters' best writers having some say over how the characters behaved and spoke.

Other characters appear in more than one book. Why not Deadshot?

As much as I love having good creators on good characters, that's totally ridiculous.

Because it'd be hard to fit Deadshot into both the Secret Six and the Suicide Squad.

Y'know, I'm not against anyone else writing Deadshot but damn it, just when Ostrander decides to return, when there's actually hope on a Suicide Squad ongoing, they take away Deadshot from him.

I have to agree that with the Suicide Squad mini I just don't care at all about Secret Six.

Me either, and I'd want Deadshot available for the Squad if they got a series. But kicking him off the Secret Six because Ostrander's not writing seems like a bit much.

Given the poor sales of the Suicide Squad miniseries, it really shouldn't be a concern.

Someone speculated based on some of the language Simone used in her Newsarama interview that the Bat-villain is Two-Face; another obvious choice would be Catwoman.

Hmmm...I don't see Two-Face throwing in with that particular type of group. He is, for all his maniacal supervillain cred, similar to a traditional mafia character. If he's in a group, it's for personal gain or benefit, or because it's the smart choice. The Secret Six aren't gonna mean any of those things for him.

And the Secret Six are just a little too hardcore for Catwoman.

Not sure who it'll be, but the Six are kinda loaded down with Bat-villains already. Deadshot started out as a Bat-villain, as did Catman. They even ran with the Mad Hatter and Harley Quinn for awhile.
