Secret Six official discussion thread

Pay attention to that Simone interview from NYCC and she refers to the character as a "he." She may have mispoken, but I imagine someone like Simone would be very careful to always use "she" when it applies.

My money is on Penguin, because he's got the money. I imagine having a financial backing would be great for the group, and Penguin would love to have a squad of guys he can actually count on to do his dirty work.

I could see Freeze joining up because he's like the easiest Bat-character to mainipulate ever. DC is also trying to give Hush another boost, so it could be him for such a reason. Without Parademon, they could use the muscle Croc could supply; I could also imagine Simone having a lot of fun with him. It's a pretty big stretch, but I could see Joker trying to lead them just to piss off Luthor.

And the Secret Six are just a little too hardcore for Catwoman.

Pfeifer has steered Catwoman back to being a villain ever since she gave up her kid. There may be a pretty big jump between cat burgling and the Six, but with her own title being cancelled, the change could be faster than expected. But then, there's the whole "he" thing I noticed.

Like you say, it's a big jump between cat-burgling and the kind of heavy-duty stuff the Six do.

Penguin doesn't seem to fit with the Six as a member. He could be a financial backer, sure, but not a member.

Freeze is easy to manipulate, but I'm not sure the Six want someone that unstable after dealing with the Hatter and Harley.

The Joker would be such a poor fit for the Six.

I think my money's on Croc at this point.

Freeze isn't half as unstable as Hatter or Harley. As long as they keep his mind on an end, he'll stick with their means. Croc is far more unstable than Freeze; he's prone to go into berserk fits of feeding. I think the original hook for the Six is that they were a mismatched group thrown together through chance. I don't think the Joker is a poor fit at all.

I thought Harley was all happy-go-lucky and normal after Countdown.

Characterization continuity was never a high point of Countdown. Isn't it a great irony that the bastardizations committed in that book will probably be respected much more than their previous statuses quo were respected by Countdown?

Actually, Harley was all happy-go-lucky after that issue in detective comics where she went good, and then joined the six, and then got caught up in Granny Goodness' cult. So, she's been a good girl for quite some time now.

All the best villains go heroic. Only losers like Heatwave ever go back to being villains.

Well, at this point she's kinda in between. Maybe she'll partner up with Catwoman's side kick and become some new type of lesbian duo. Maybe they'll go up against Batwoman and the Question.....you know what? Never mind.

They should've just taken their cue from the cartoon and paired Harley and Poison Ivy up if they were gonna do that.

They did for quite some time in her own book. And it was cheesecakey goodness!

Well, they did, but apparently that relationship has run it's course.

The Event Crossover that CHANGES EVERYTHING...LESBWAR 2008

Because it'd be hard to fit Deadshot into both the Secret Six and the Suicide Squad.

Not really. If Wolverine can be in three X-men books, 2 solos, an Avenger, plus his various cameos then Deadshot can appear in more than one book.

I hope this blows, i havent read anything simone in a while, if this sucks, i can go back to talking ****

Deadshot doesn't have as many annoying fanboys making it impossible to enjoy being in a comic shop, though.

And it would require a solid reasoning for Deadshot to be in both titles, which doesn't exist.

Maybe there should be a reason...but it's not "required". Batman doesn't have a solid reason for a seperate team outside of the JLA...yet he has Outsiders. Flash more than likely won't have any solid reasoning for being in both JLA and Titans.

Batman's reason for the Outsiders is to be more proactive and prevent threats before they get to the level where only the battering ram that is the JLA can stop them. That seems pretty solid.

Flash I'll give you, although the Titans don't ever really need a reason to be together. They're pretty much family at this point.

Man, all that anyone can think of to justify new teams nowadays is 'cause they need to be more "proactive" or whatever. Christ, we get it already Scott/Bruce/Dick/Roy/Hal/Tony!! Y'all've been rambling about being more proactive for the last ten years, so just shut up and go proact already, geez. :cmad:

I'm coming to despise the word "proactive" myself. You'd think, with so many Justice Leaguers on these proactive teams, they'd just take a vote and make the damn JLA itself proactive to shut Batman, Hal, Ollie, and all of them up.

Also, the new proactive teams invariably fall short of the JL Elite anyway. :o

We both know Batman's there so the Outsiders will possibly sell more. The in story reason may be the "proactive" stuff, but anything The Outsiders can do, the JLA can do. Why not just be more proactive with the JLA?

Another example is Mr. Terrific in JSA and Checkmate. There is no great reason for him to be in both books. He's in Checkmate cuz Rucka or the editor likes the character, most likely.

I just don't see Deadshot being in two books as a big deal. I'm fine with him in just one but if he was in both...(shrugs) okay.
