Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 1

I'm not gonna dismiss this movie prior to seeing it. But the first film was such a strong singular idea that I'm not sure if it's possible to come up with another idea (not to mention execute it) that lives up to the legacy.

100% Agreed.

I'm really looking forward to this film because Predator is my favorite alien monster but it's mainly thanks to how perfect the first movie was, the quintessential Predator experience and the ending is unbeatable, a high tech space hunter versus a caveman tech alpha male covered in mud fighting to death in some faraway jungle. The execution and atmosphere are just unrivalled.

Plus that awesome Silvestri's score.

Yea the first Predator is an all timer.

I think Predator 2 is underrated also. I loved how it was set in this nightmarish hell on earth version of LA and how it expanded the mythos. Plus that fantastic cast.

I can't recall anything from Predator 2 apart from some LA day-time rooftops, gang wars and random heat-vision memories.

And this doesn't sound good if your movie is called Predator, you know...

In contrast, I remember how mysterious the character was in the first film as well as the final cat-mouse hunt in the final act with Arnie.

Too bad that a director with two highly rated films will want to ruin his streak with Predator. This movie has no chance of not being a failure.

A'm not blinded with hope like many of you. This film will be bad.

And yes, I will shut up. My next post will be when a trailer drops.

Three highly rated movies.

Iron Man 3 is actually well a well regarded movie, if you take ******** comic book purists out of the equation.

Predator 2 may not be as memorable as the first but I do still enjoy it. Plus it has Danny Glover, Bill Paxton and Gary Busey.

Maybe you need to revisit it lol. It took the Predator to an urban jungle during a heat wave and gang war. We know Predators love heat and conflict.

It had some great sequences like on the train and the slaughterhouse. Plus the scene in the alley with King Willie who views the Predator as some kind of voodoo demon.

We also learn more about the Predators code of honour with how he spares the pregnant detective and how the tribe chief rewards Glovers cop with an old flintlock musket for besting the Predator in single combat. From that we also learn the Predators have been coming to Earth for centuries, which is pretty damn cool. Makes me want to see a Predator movie set during the Crusades or Napoleonic Wars or something.

And I mean come on, we have Danny Glover on the verge of a heart attack the whole film and Gary Busey chomping the **** out of the scenery.

Man Predator 2 is the dogs bollox.

Agreed on all of that! Also let's not forget Kevin Peter Hall who played the Pred itself. No one else who's played a Pred has been as good as KPH, although the guy who played the Pred in AvP Requiem was actually pretty good too. (One of the very few good things in that movie, obviously.)

That sums it up for me as well. It was never gonna be as good as the first one, but I still enjoyed it for ramping up the sci fi cheese a bit. Plus it had a great cast. Honestly, the first was so good that I don't think a sequel should have ever been made, but since that ship has sailed, I've been hoping for SOMETHING close to the enjoyability of the first two.

Can we just get an amazing Alien vs. Predator film based off the Arcade game with loads of action, violence, and gore? No? Okay. :csad:

Just throw Terminator and RoboCop in there too, so we don't have to get any more horrible sequels/reboots to each franchise for years to come. :o

Thomas Jane's plot description:

“We play these veterans from like Afghanistan, Iraq war or whatever,” said Jane. “But we’re all ****ing crazy so we go to the VA hospital to get our meds. We’re all like shellshocked, PTSD… soldiers. We’re at the VA hospital and we’re in group therapy and of course, somebody flips out…this is backstory, I don’t think we really see this…somebody flips out and we all get arrested and get thrown onto the bus to go down to the hospital and they throw this other guy on the bus too. And he’s a guy they’ve actually marked to kill him because he’s seen a UFO, he’s seen the Predator ships come down so they lock him up and throw him in with us lunatics. They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy. But, of course, we take the bus over and we’re all like ‘***** that man, let’s go kill these *****ing Predators ourselves’ and we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there.”

Does your pass have the title? The one saw is untitled and is for Thursday night. Are there two screenings on the fox lot this week.

we have to wait until August? So are there reshoots? Lots of post production?

Hopefully a sequel is already underway. Quite a while to wait.

I think Fox just think it'll play better in summer. It won't have to go up against Back Panther either, and there isn't really much going on in August, though that spot has proven to be a good one.

As far as I know Black is keeping to the same production schedule and will be finished with it by the end of this year/early next year. I have my fingers crossed he gets moving on Doc Savage early next year.

I know, right? It's still one of my favorites. :)

I absolutely agree that 2 is underrated. I'm looking forward to this movie, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. I just don't know how much more story you can mine out of the franchise.

New Predator poster available from Mondo at a random time tomorrow.

His hands look like he's about to summon a Kamehameha wave.

Or he's got an invisible Magic 8 ball and he's asking it if he's going to meet Gary Busey today
