Two things. First, I think she expected Shane Black to apologize to her in the first place, long before she made it public. This all went down in the middle of August, and Black seemed rather annoyed by it if his first response to the LA Times was anything to go by. But then the LA Times article came out, and his friend was exposed as a victim blaming creep, who didn't get mixed up in anything. He was graphically telling a 14 year old relative how he wanted to have sex with her, how he'd like to do it, etc. Then Black had to apologize to try and avoid a lot of blow back from the situation, which probably explains why he didn't contact Munn in private before hand. He didn't think he did anything wrong.Love Olivia Munn, she was right to speak up, but she didn't handle the situation with Black and her co-stars very well. She reported the guy and the scene was cut from the movie. Shane Black publicly apologized for the entire situation and took the blame. At this point what else is there to do? Nothing, really.
Instead now I have to read that the cast members are scumbags for not wanting to do an interview about something they don't even have anything to do with / to say about? Nobody's defending the guy. He served his time. He sure won't pop up in any other movie again. Not that he was gaining any fame from it, or making big waves. What the **** should the cast say about that? And if Munn is upset about Black not apologizing to her personally, she could pick up her phone, as well, and talk about it to him like an adult person would do, instead of stirring up drama @The LAT.
Still like her, though. You know, I can manage not to hop on a bandwagon just because I don't see eye to eye with a person's action.

As for the cast. The entire point is they did not support her. They left her to answer questions about the situation, isolating her for speaking out. Beyond not showing up to interviews, they were all but avoiding talking about it to the press and were acting like nothing had happened. It is a good example of why women don't speak up. Because they are treated in this manor. Like they did something wrong. If she didn't do something wrong, and I think we all agree she didn't, then why treat her like she did?
Which is odd because the critics are pretty evenly split on the movie. I guess it depends on who you choose to trust.man i keep hearing how go awful this film is even from critics i trust![]()
Me too but im hoping maybe Ill still like it despite critics, cant be worse then alien covenant right?man i keep hearing how go awful this film is even from critics i trust![]()
There is plenty about it. That Shane Black thought it was okay and defended his action without apparently doing any research into what his friend did is one aspect. That he did not tell Munn is another aspect, as is why he thought it was okay to do so without telling her. Third, that this happened at all shines a light on how women are treated in the industry.First of all no one, including Olivia Munn, was harmed on the set of this movie. And that's a fact. She's upset about not knowing about her co-worker being a registered sex offender. And she has the right to be upset. But the studio took action and Shane Black took the blame, so at this point there is nothing else to do about this. Instead she's throwing even her co-stars under the bus, which frankly, isn't fair, because they didn't do anything wrong to begin with. Now tell me: what the hell can anyone do about this anymore, after the studio took action and deleted the scene? In my opinion, nothing.
As for the movie, this seems like another "Iron Man 3" (best MCU movie ever so far!) situation where you either love it or hate.
I haven't seen anyone say he should be blacklisted. Or anyone else for that matter aside from the guy who tried to hit up a 14 year old girl for sex.
None of them have directly done anything but in not supporting her they have done the lesser evil of passively condoning it.
No, it isn't. But it also isn't everyone agrees and is on the same page about how much slack you give someone or how much hell they should pay for not being perfect.
The other actors who did not back her up, who backed out of the interview have their reasons. And so far I know of only two (three if you count Key) have defended their skipping out and apologized.
Whether or not you think they were right to defend Black or that Munn is overreacting is exactly the opposite of what other people think they should be doing. What they did by not supporting Munn was in the eyes of some people, saying what Black did was not a big deal.
Of course it is, that is why there is a problem. What in the world...Not telling anyone about him being a sex offender was wrong. But this was not a case of a woman being treated badly on set, I'm sorry. And the way Olivia Munn keeps throwing everyone under the bus indicates that there may have been other reasons why the cast was not interested in taking part in an interview about how terrible of a person Shane Black is. Probably because they don't agree with Munn's wildly impulsive ways. The man ****ed up by trying to help out a friend of his. Huge mistake. But what now? Does he deserve to be stoned and never work again? Come on, people. I'm all for women's rights and the #MeToo movement, but this has taken on the form of a witch hunt.
Who said they had to turn their back on Black? Why did they keep silent in their support of Munn? They knew once it hit the media it was going to be a question. Are these men not adults? You say it like them being uncomfortable with the question suddenly means they don't have to do it, while they know Munn is going to be asked these questions. That is them alienating her. That is putting the entire situation on a woman, as opposed to these men, who say they supports these movements, shouldering the pressure alongside their cast member. It's not, because unlike other people I'm not judging her, or saying how terrible of a persone she is, that I'm not a fan of hers anymore, etc. I just don't think that she is handling this very well, and that she may have alienated the other cast members herself with the way she approached things. Why should the other actors turn their back on Shane Black, even if they think he made a mistake? People aren't herds, and life, relationships and friendships aren't made of bandwagons. People should get off Twitter for a while and get a grip of what real life is like again. Sorry. Just my opinion.
Correct me if Im wrong but didnt she just 2 years ago work for bryan singer of all people in a sexually revealing outfit Who has very public allegations for years? He was just got let go by fox mid filming bohemian rhapsody for allegations to boot. But a 2 minute scene with a registered sex offender is over the line? Why isnt she speaking out against singer as well? If its because she had a choice she still comes off as a hypocrite.
