Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

I really liked Predators. Part of what was so appealing to me was that it didn't look like they used CGI as a crutch but instead used it in combination with traditional practical effects to make something aesthetically pleasing. So it's disappointing to me that they don't seem to be continuing on from that. That said, I trust Shane Black to deliver a quality product.

The movie was enjoyable..but boy, did it feel like a fan film sometimes. I don't know if it's due to Robert Rodreiguez's production company or what.

Like they shot in Hawaii but it felt like they were at an arboretum instead.

Agreed, I loved that about it, it was like old school movies.

Yeah, I was slamming Predators until I was blue in the face, then I ended up being a pretty big fan of the film.

EDIT: Also Shane wrote the shooting draft of part one.

That's because most of it was fake jungle interiors. They only shot in Hawaii for like 5 days.

Well, it's outlook looks better than Blomkamp's Alien film...

Maybe Ridley Scott will come and shut this one down too, because he's evil personified.

I enjoyed Predators as well!

So is this new Predator sequel an actual sequel to the original? Pred 2? or Predators?
All these out of sequence sequels make for a headache sometimes.

That is what I actually like about the Predator franchise. Each Movie can be a simple standalone Movie, and none of them would have to connect to each other. All I care about is a Predator hunting worthy prey in an interesting setting. I don't need to see Dutch back, or something like his son being the next target for a Predator.

Agreed, Don't need Arnold back doing a old man version of every character he's ever done in new sequels to every franchise. Don't need a Predator Genisys movie!!!!

I'd rather it only reference Dutch than feature him or at best he cameo in it as someone who knows but is not directly involved in any way.

I'd be cool with that. They mentioned the happening of the first Predator movie in Predators and I thought that was a cool and subtle nod to the original.

Yeah I liked that as well, nice call back to the original, I wouldn't mind an Arnold cameo though.

I want Arnie as a co-lead with a younger bad @$& that could take over as the human lead.

If Arnold does something akin to Escape Plan, where he's a shady background character who knows more than he's letting on, I'd love that.

Ive been waiting for a rematch ever since I was a kid. My mom made me watch Predator 2 when I was a kid and the whole time I was waiting for Arnie to come out and take over LOL.

He's too old and out of shape to be involved in it but there are still fans who can't let it go.

He's old but he aint out of shape.

Don't worry about them, if Arnold's in the film, he'll do great. If he's not in the film, I trust in Shane Black to find a greast cast of characters who will in turn, do great.

I don't need Arnold back but I'd be okay if he was. It makes a lot more sense than him playing a 70-year-old terminator.

I have never really thought about it before but its funny how The Predator is almost perfect in a way that no one has every really asked for an update of the character, if anything just a different setting. The concept is pretty flawless.

Yup. All I need is a new setting and occasionally a new toy in his arsenal, and I'm pretty happy.
