Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

I hope they will finally get the Predator face right again. He still looked the most organic and realistic in the first Movie. With each new Movie, they always managed to get some other stuff wrong.

  • In Predator 2, the eyes mainly annoyed me. He looked like a puppy, when you got an up-close look of his surprise face.
  • In AvP, they actually tried to make them less ugly, and went with the whole superhero approach when it came to physique. And the skin holding the mandibles together, was all flabby.
  • In AvP:R, they thankfully went back to uber ugly, but the face appeared too rubbery.
  • In Predators, they tried to copy the classic Predator, succeeded for the most part, but again, the skin holding his mandibles together, was all flabby.

After all the technological advancements, the first Predator still remains the best looking one.

That's why Stan Winston was the best.

I hope Black gets Legacy (formerly Winston's company) to do the sequel.

Looking forward to some cool 80's style banter between two buddy predators set in front of a Christmas backdrop. Bring on "Predator : Jungle all the way".

Agreed, I'd go as far as saying the predator from the original movie is one of the most realistic aliens ever put on film.

It's a major reason the first one works so well.

Not to mention how the predator moves and sounds, all masterfully done.

The movement is another thing they have to get right. The Predator is just not the Predator, if he doesn't have those graceful movements. The mixture of brutal savagery and grace, is one of the reasons why the Predator is so interesting. Without it, he's just some random hulking beast.

I thought Ian Whyte did an amazing job, re-capturing Kevin Peter Hall's movements in AvP:R. While the whole movie was just terrible, at least the Predator was still a delight to watch.

Glad it's not a reboot, it'd be pointless for this series.

Also, everything about the original Predator's design is amazing. I don't think they've topped the design of the one's helmet either, all the other helmets look too over complicated.

The helmet designs are something I have no issue with at all. I really like all the different designs. Wolf's is probably my favorite.

Would the Amazon be a good location to set the film in?,Do you want all jungle/wilderness like Predator and Predators or all open town like Predators 2 and AvP:Requiem or mostly indoors somewhere like in AvP?,I personally would like a mix of all types but a place like the amazon would be great too.

I liked Predators and so I wouldn't mind a small scene with the planet from that one,A cameo from Adrian Brody and his character would be neat

The Amazon would be too much like the first movie. As bad as AVP:R was, I did like seeing the Predator moving around in thick non-tropical forests.

Black will probably just set it in a forest or jungle somewhere so that the Predator has trees & things to play around in or I would love to see the Predator set in the desert it would at least be something different.

Although I don't think a zoo or an amusement park would be a great place to set the whole movie I would love to see a scene or two that takes place at either location.

I stand by my suggestion for a location but I wonder if Black might be interested in that prison set Predator movie idea that was floated a few years back.

Not sure who "came up" with the movie idea but there is a Predator comic storyline called Race War that's set in Prison.

Cold War which takes place in Siberia would be another good one to use as inspiration.

I'd like to see it on a island with an abandoned research facility or something.

It's kind of cliched now but something set in space on a ship or better, a station would be nice.

Now that they've gone to the "hunting" planet, where else can this series go? The home planet? How skilled should the humans be? special ops? ninjas?

Because of the Fox connection, I'd rather see Wolverine being hunted, one-on-one.. It would be a great reason to finally give Wolverine an R-rated action film.

Not sure what would be best for this film but generally just love seeing Predator in the jungle. Maybe I just need to watch the 1st film on repeat.

I'd most like to see a Space Marines vs Pred(s) movie, especially if the AvP idea is dead. Maybe Space Marines on a jungle planet? :p Or a space station on a jungle planet.....

Clearly the Pred should just keep his mask on all the time instead of taking it off. ;)

Interesting, I've never read any Predator books but I guess they are ripe for mining ideas.

How about a warzone? Like if Predators showed up in Syria or something.

Black doing this sets of my Spidey sense, but... It would have to really be fresh in some facet. I really wonder what should be brought to the table to make things new?

So is this supposed to be a remake, reboot, or something along the lines of Predators?

With Black talking about mining Predator lore, I'd kind of like to see a film version of Machiko Noguchi from the Dark Horse comics series. Cut out all of the Alien stuff of course, but the basic idea of her character sounds interesting.

Hmm... That would require a full on sci fi/future world setting... I wonder if Black would do something like that? I sure would like to see him try.
