Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

I love how blasse Shane is. "I don't care what color it is, or what the weapons do, I just want to tell my story".

Shane Black knows what's up. He's dealt with whiny Iron Man fans (after making one of the most awesome Marvel Studios pics, I might add) before... Way to go! Tell your story, Shane!
I'll be in line for this day one!

Jeff Sneider (The Wrap) implied in Collider that one of the Batman actors will be in the cast. Didn't say who. :yay:

I was doing some IMDbing to see who looks like they could be available in October when this starts shooting, Ben Affleck and Christian Bale where part of them.

I vote for Idris Elba. Cliche I know but I want him to headline more movies.

That's freaking exciting, as they'd all be pretty awesome!

- Michael Keaton
- Val Kilmer
- George Clooney
- Christian Bale
- Ben Affleck

Hoping for Christian Bale, personally. I'd love to see him in a badass action role once again. And with Shane Black at the helm.....!

Ben wont have the time. Clooney and Bale are doing f smaller movies IMO. Kilmer i could see

I assumed he meant the lead. If I had to guess a Batman actor was in the film as any kind of character, then yeah it'd have to be Val Kilmer who is buddies with Shane Black.

That's funny to read, but I actually wouldn't mind Val Kilmer in this. Just hopefully, in somewhat better shape than how I've seen him in pictures.

He doesn't sport the breathing aid anymore, but he still looks kinda sickly and worn out. I hope for the best.

I predict Kilmer. Old Kilmer in a Predator movie? My God, I could see that.

Just going by his reaction, I think it's Affleck but the guy won't have time for that so I'm going with Kilmer.

Yeah I'm thinking Keaton or most likely Val Kilmer, unless they count Adam West and he plays an old crazy general lol

I would imagine Christian Bale would want to steer clear of any franchise that once had Arnold attached after the Terminator Salvation debacle but... he would make the most sense, IMO.

Unless WB is making this movie. Are they? Because if so, they seem to think Ben Affleck is the only actor that matters anymore.

Russell Brand!

Nope, The Predator is in the same family as the Alien franchise, Fox.

As for former Batman actors taking on the role it could be Bale as he's got nothing planned after Hostiles.

Considering that Black hopes to turn The Predator into more of an event movie, as opposed to genre or cult, we asked whether there was some mandate by Fox to make it PG-13 (like 2004’s Alien vs. Predator) or whether the studio is more open to an R-rating after the success of Deadpool, Black responded, “It’s an odd thing. Whether Deadpool helped is an open question, but I suspect it did. I made a condition of my participation with Predator that it be the same rating as the first movie, and the first movie was Rated R. In other words, I don’t want to cut away every time the Predator does something violent. I was watching the American version of The Grudge, which was PG-13, and I remember being so frustrated by the fact that everything that was scary in the Japanese version, they had to cut away from in the PG-13 American version.”

A good thing he stipulated that. How can you have a movie about a violent alien hunter and cut away all the violence and expect it to be any good?

That's why it was stupid that in the mid 2000's there was an obsession with keeping things PG-13.

Alien by its nature is Rated R. Same thing with something like Hellraiser (a few years ago, a reboot was in the works with a P13 rating) or any slasher film.

The first AVP film was rated PG-13 and, it didn't really work. Hollywood needs to wake and up and realize that taking franchise that were built on being very R-rated and neutering them to be PG-13, almost never works. The only one that I can recall that kind of pulled that off was Live Free or Die Hard.

Especially now that films like Deadpool and Kingsman: The Secret Service have shown that the audience WILL go and see Rated-R genre films (as if their was any doubt) if they're good/entertaining and marketed well.

It's a franchise about a violent alien hunter that uses plasma rifles and various sharp pointy bladed weapons to brutally dispatch people, and then take parts of their bodies as trophies. Does that premise scream "PG-13" to anyone here, anyone?

Requiem was R-rated and it still sucked. So it's not just about R-rating.
