I think some people are underestimating Chinese box office numbers here.

My guess is $800m worldwide

Cruella and Free Guy are both getting sequels. Shang Chi will do far better than both those movies. The times we're in are different, so expectations will be different as well.

I'm sure Shang Chi will get another movie along with crossovers.
The difference with Shang Chi compare to those two,is Shang Chi belongs to a cinematic universe with plenty of ips. I want 2 sequels but I'd believe that happening when this perform at least okay or when Marvel Studios announce a sequel.

Will definitely get a sequel especially since every mcu movie. Aside from the hulk, has been given a sequel so I don't think that will change anytime soon.

The reactions to this movie are simply out of this world, I had a feeling this movie was going to be amazing. I'm already seeing people change their tune, and order tickets.

It's really good that the reactions have highlighted, how amazing the action in the film is. I know that is really going to help Shang Chi, open higher than its opening weekend projection.

I'm sticking with 60-100 million opening weekend.

Over 50 million would be marvelous.

Black Widow.

It isn't about how good the film is.
How comfortable do people feel about returning to theaters?
THAT is the question.
It is the ONLY question that matters.

Hmm the quality also matters. If it is as good as The New Mutants, that would turn off a lot of people and not bother seeing in theaters.

Whereas, with glowing reviews, I bet some people aren't going to think about safety due to their eXcitement seeing this movie in cinemas.

Super early but here it is

You know, after all the doom and gloom about it possibly doing as poor as 30-40 million, I'm ecstatic about it being on pace to do 60+ at the moment. If the good word of mouth keeps spreading, maybe it can climb even higher.

The movie also has no comp with Sony moving Venom out of the way. So it could have decent legs as well. Maybe beating Crazy Rich Asians domestic box office is still on the table lol.

I don't have any issue with CRA, I actually like the movie. I just wanted Shang Chi to beat it as a goal for the movie. Would have been easy pre pandemic, but man it's going to take a herculean effort at this point lol.

Those 30m predictions were laughable. It's Marvel ffs

TSS got low numbers because people couldn't care less about yet another DC reboot

I couldn't agree more especially when free guy made 28 million ow.

This is really good especially since it's still early days, and more reactions are due to come out to help build more hype for this movie. I'm still going to stick with 60 to 100 million, this movie already seems to be pushing boundaries despite covid Keep it up Shang Chi.

I believe it can do it I definitely think it will beat cra domestic box office.

Now okay... I was sensing doom and gloom the last few days about the boX office performance of this film. Lets hope these 50 million plus opening weekend gross predictions/projections become a reality. With a 2x multiplier, it should be able to hit 100 million and some more in is entire run in North America.

And it would also be good news to Eternals, as I don't want a premier access release/another delay for that movie). So yeah the success of this film will determine how Eternals is going to be released in November.

I agree but I don't think that is the only question that matters imo. Because If the movie is of high quality, then that will help its box office. And based on the reactions, it seems like that is definitely the case.

The reactions from today being what they are. I have seen people who were sitting on the fence, about going to see the movie. Now decide they are going to go and watch it despite covid.

Because the reactions to the films action and how good the movie is in general. Has made some people not want to miss out, and has some people questioning if it's really that good, its now given those people the incentive to go and see it for themselves.

That could have only happened if the reactions. Were as good as they are, and the action was highlighted with a significant amount of praise, that's what I meant.

And with that said I still think there is a chance, it's ow projection can still hit a higher number than 60 million.

Especially since more reactions to the movie, are geared to come out tomorrow and on the 25th in cinemacon.

Eternals can beat Widow if Shang-Chi does 60-70

Yeah, that movie always had the higher ceiling. Where as Shang Chi is a personal story centered around family and identity, Eternals is a huge sprawling epic that spans thousands of years across human history.

But yeah what you said makes sense. If Shang Chi opens to 60-70, I think Eternals definitely beats BW's OW.

BW had name recognition as a character.
General audiences have never heard of Eternals.

Between Shang Chi and Eternals, I honestly don't know which one would gross more. Personally speaking I never heard about Eternals until this movie. Shang Chi I've read in the comiXs since the 2000s. Trailer wise, Shang Chi looks more appealing to the public, a straight up action film, doesn't look complicated. Eternals have more superpowered characters and more well known actors but it looks like a hard sell sci fi movie.

Nobody heard of the Guardians either, but that movie did huge numbers.

Black Widow, like Shang Chi is a personal story that tells a story on a smaller scale. Eternals is a huge sprawling epic with a big ensemble cast and probably bigger bigger stakes like the fate of the world. I think it will definitely have a bigger draw if all things were equal.

That was 2014. People now consider carefully, which movie to watch. They not jjst dive into the theater and watch a movie, they haven’t heared of
