I'll admit it's not that I don't understand I just hate having RT and Metacritic being the ultimate resource for movie reviews. I've gotten used to the thumbs up/thumbs down or the star rating.

And also why do just the opinions of the United States critics matter?

We're just better and more important don't you know.:o

But it may have to do with the fact that close to half the box office comes from the United States alone.

I was at a new AMC reserve seating "Dine-In" theater. I believe it has 60-70 seats altogether.

The crowd was silent throughout the entire film for the most part. Only thing that got a reaction was Amy Adams - not a good one.

As I was waiting outside for my sister to get out of the bathroom, I specifically watched people coming out of the theater for their facial reactions and listened for discussion. There was no talk. People legitimately looked uncertain as to what they just watched.

I walked out of the film with a sense of, "Now I gotta go to work. Why did I see that movie?"...

As for others, one person mentioned Cyborg but then went on to mention something about the Teen Titans cartoon. Good crowd for the movie, but mostly silence. It seemed like it was a chore for some to sit through.

I'm just of the mind that there's too much overreaction on both sides for me to believe ANY of the supposed reactions here. Chances are I suspect most people's individual experience is being projected onto everyone around them. These "audience reaction" threads are always kind of silly to me. People that like or love the film are going to say "The vibe was great, people were buzzing." People that hated it are going to say that no one had any positive feelings, there was booing or crying or what have you. Silliness all around.

But, the guy in front of me really did mention the Teen Titans cartoon. That's something.

None of that crap was in my audience report. It was a quiet group and I don't have to be a hater to acknowledge it.

Lol, I was noticing that. Especially with how extreme some of these are. Then you match it up to the 73 percent on RT for the audience reviews. Though some of the extremely positive ones for people who went on Thursday I can believe. Just because they were the ones who went out of their way to watch the film as early as possible.

Edit: By they I meant the audience.
Also, I legit saw that biker guy crying.

For my third viewing, I went with four friends. One of them is a big Marvel fan, but also liked Man of Steel. Another likes some superhero movies in general, but has no real preference for either studio that I can tell. The other two were a couple who aren't big DC fans from what I can tell. Neither had seen Man of Steel. Both were worried about the film because of the terrible reviews. And one straight up said she hated Ben Affleck and didn't want to see the movie because of him.

During the film there was that standard laughter at the usual points. Sporadic clapping throughout, but not like there was when I saw the prescreening. There were two lines that got laughs that probable weren't supposed to

When Clark says "I love you." to Lois at the end, and then Lex's monologue at the end. I also don't think Superman's death affected the audience as much as intended. Worked for some, not for others. To be expected I guess. Wonder Woman's entrance got some clapping and cheers. One of the two guys next to me said something to the effect of "Damn girl!" but I'm not sure how into the movie they were overall.

At the end there was from maybe a quarter of the audience. As usual, people stayed to see if there was an after credits scene. I couldn't tell you how many people liked it or hated it, but it seemed like people mostly enjoyed it.

For my friends, my friend that liked Man of Steel was seeing it for the second time and said it was better on this viewing. The couple both said they really liked it, and the chick that hated Affleck said he was awesome. (This actually really surprised me, because I thought she would have hated the film.) My other friend thought it was OK. He had to leave immediately afterwards and couldn't stay to talk about the film with the rest of us, but I get the feeling he wasn't really impressed and could go without seeing it again.

I, of course, still loved it. But no one here really cares about that.

I don't remember too much of an audience reaction other than clapping when WW showed up. There were lots of kids present during my viewing.....

Uh... Did I single you out kemosabe?

See... Was I pointing to YOU? No. General statement. People... Ya'll need some weed in ya lives. Chill.

The only reactions I remember:

1. The man in front of me laughed when
the parademon knocked Batman out
. I think it was the only time someone laughed during the movie.

2. A boy (probably ten years old) said "this is scary".

3. I got some popcorn between my teeth, annoying!

Other than that, it was pretty silent.

I saw it with a pretty small crowd. Mostly silence, but a few 'what the heck was that?''s on the way out. It was kinda' funny actually. there was one group of very young kids with their folks and I felt bad because they were so quiet, like they were in shock. I felt the movie was inappropriate for them.

Yeah, I think many people got confused with a lot of scenes. Like the guy who laughed when [BLACKOUT] teenage mutant ninja beatles beat up Batman during the knightmare sequence[/BLACKOUT].

I also think the 12-rating (8 with parents) in my country is too low for this movie.

I saw in the IMAX at Sydney and usually everyone stays seated for a while when the film is over. I'd never seen people get out of the cinema faster before.

I feel like no one knows how Rotten Tomatoes works...
I'm pretty sure the GA don't. They don't tend to find the inner workings of sites like those, and just take the big percentage number shown as whatever it is.

Montreal IMAX crowd has always been quieter than most in my opinion. That being said, I thought they weren't too happy about it, but that wasn't completely true.

They laughed 2 or 3 times at the jokes. Laughed hardest during Ma Kent's "I figured like". Also laughed when the senator realized the whole Granny's Peach Tea thing. But shocked about what happened next.

There was a big bearded guy sitting next to me and I thought he hated it because he was quiet during the entire movie. But he was the one who initiated the applause and more than half the audience joined in.

There was buzz definitely after the movie. Some of them were understandably quiet, because this movie is unexpected. Some of them started calling their friends during the credits were rolling and told them what they felt. 2 young couples were sitting in front of me and this guy immediately buzzed and called his friend and said enthusiastically "You will either love it or hate it". I couldn't help but ask them what they thought, they were positive especially this guy I mentioned above who said that he loved it. BUT, there was one of their friends who sat in a different area because he came with others and he came by and said he hated it.

In the washroom, an old guy comes in and asks my brother what he thought about the movie. There were certainly people who liked the movie and certainly those who didn't like the movie.

I think the people who hated it is mostly because they didn't like the characterization of Batman and superman. Not because they saw editing problem or pacing problems. They have problems with Batman killing and Superman so depressing.

This was my Friday morning audience reaction.
I am gonna watch the movie a second time and I write down my observations again.

My second viewing in IMAX yesterday was packed to the max. It was late evening screening, almost night. People were pretty silent through the whole film, whispered a bit. I honestly couldn't make out what everyone was talking about. There were a few laughs on several Lex moments, Ma Kent and Alfred. The company I was with had quite heated discussion after, but everyone like it from ok to awesome. Some stuff was confusing for them.

Opposite in my cinema, I checked to see if there was an after credits scene, which there isn't (I didnt expect there to be), but there were about 50 people still sat waiting whilst the credits rolled.

I got the impression from the conversations I could hear that a lot of people liked the film

My audeience enjoyed the film, you can tell they were into it. There were scenes thst gof a reaction that I didnt think would. When Superman tells Batman "The Bat is dead. Bury it. Consider this mercy." i heard some " oooooooo's"' in the audience.

There was clapping at the end but it wasnt a rip roaring round of applausd like when I saw Furious 7 ladt year.

Are people in the US used to having audiences cheering and clapping at cinemas? I ask this because of the "people were silent – they didn't react to anything during the movie" comments. Does that necessarily mean they didn't enjoy the experience?

In my country, we're used to watch movies in silence. There might be some laughs here and there, but that's about it. Everything else is kind of unusual.

In a lot of countries people don't make noise during movies. Doesn't mean they didn't like it.

Audience reactions at both of my showing were what I expected, similar to BB/TDK - quiet.

They became more animated and audible when Wonder Woman made her entrance and during the Doomsday battle. There were some applauses. Guy next to me thoroughly enjoyed it. In both showing, the majority of the audience remain seated for the end credit.

Going to see this a third time tonight.

So far, both my audience reactions were chuckling at the same scenes and sniffling at the same scenes. Both my audiences stayed for end credit scenes. The first showing groaned hard that there wasn't. I didn't stay the second showing and told some dudes on the end seats that there weren't any end credit scenes. Marvel's brand really trained the audience with these end credits.

Both my audiences, so far, gave very light applause's at the end that maybe lasted 7 seconds tops.

I really don't expect this movie to get a ROARING reaction either, lol. I mean, the ending is somber to the ninth degree, but leaves room for the future story and films to be a little more optimistic. But most audiences should be silent walking out. It doesn't end in a pump fisting way. It makes the audience ponder if they like it or not.

Saw it on Thursday night, 6pm showing. Audience was pretty silent throughout the film, big cheer for Wonder Woman's first appearance but other than that, not much. After the film, people were very silent. Some stayed hoping for an end of credits scene but I think everyone was really processing what just happened, especially at the end...
