Civil War Sharon carter A.K.A. Agent 13 - Part 3

Having ordinary GF vs. superhero (or the other way around) is fantastic opportunity to have a great story. Cap/Peggy story was great although she was "ordinary" comparing to him. So far parts were simply mishandled. I wonder what will happen in "Doctor Strange"/
"Black Panther" in this area - actually solo movies are much better place to handle such plots.

Peggy wasn't ordinary though, she was a fighter like Black Widow and Sharon Carter. I mean we're moving away from damsels like Pepper and Jane and more toward love interests who could actually join the Avengers (like Valkyrie).

Fans have always vocally objected to changes from the comics to the MCU. However, some people in this thread have acted as if the Captain America trilogy was ruined because Sharon hasn't been his sole love interest. The unwarranted bitterness towards other characters and even Captain America himself for perceived slights to Sharon has gone over the top, IMO.

No, the Captain America trilogy was ruined (for me) because of a lack of focus on, or interest in, Cap himself, and the meagerness of Sharon is a symptom of that.

Janet isn't dead, she's in the Quantum Realm and will probably be rescued in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

But in the leadup to Ant-Man's release, she was believed to have died outright. Her fans even got a hashtag going, VanDyneCrime, or something.

What you're really objecting to is the fact that the writers/directors have focused on facets of Steve's life that don't interest you. His love for Peggy and (obsessive, co-dependent) friendship with Bucky are canon in the comics. Sam Wilson has been Steve's best friend since the late 1960s. It all flows from the setup in the first film.

But in the movie itself it was revealed that she isn't dead, just lost. And her return is even foreshadowed at the end of the movie when Han Pym questions Scott on how he returned from the quantum realm and then looks at a picture of his wife expressing hope that she's still alive.

A relationship with Black Widow was never a facet of Steve's life. Neither are Black Panther's origin or Tony's issues.

Well it's all too late now. Sharon Carter got screwed by the Russos for the wrong reasons. Emily Blunt got screwed. We got screwed from having the ideal Black Widow in Emily Blunt. Cap's franchise eventually got avengered.

It's such a intentionally and unintentionally awkward scene I wouldn't look to much into it.
Yeah, just wish it got written better. That Sharon played a bigger part in this franchise. It truly is an insult to interchange one female character for another.

For reals? #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend Is Trending On Twitter?!! Cap and Bucky are not gay in the comics!!! Tumblr has spilled over to twitter. Little girls should quit trying to make them gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I wouldnt go that far

Bruce and Natasha aren't a couple in the comics
Bucky didn't kill Tony's parents in the comics
Zemo is Hydra, not a guy from Sokovia
Ultron was created by Hank Pym
...

I liked the hashtag, good to see this support.
This not came only from little girls, there are men supporting it too.

that s**t is so stupid
Marvel better not give in to weird twitter fetishism
its not about representation, it's simply about people wanting to see their secret fantasies played out on screen, everyone else be damned

also stupid is the idea that these movies have not focused on Cap
they clearly have

I'd like to see more development with Sharon, but Peggy was givin much too much focus to make this relationship work now, unfortunately
they should just make Sharon a more badass Soldier/Spy

I think it's the lack of trying that gives those internet loonies the motivation to start the campaign to make Steve Rogers gay.

I didn't realize there were so many that thought Stucky could actually happen. I know Staron isn't popular in the MCU, but it's just weird this caught on so fiercely.

I wonder if there's something that went on behind the scenes that we don't know about regarding Sharon's role because it seems like she was originally intended to have a much bigger role (action wise) in this film. I mean there's like so much material of her, battle ready, and proudly shown as part of Team Cap. Yet she doesn't actually do much in the film itself.

Yeah Im wondering the same thing.

Marvel dodged a bullet when Blunt had to bow out of IM2 and fans were spared her uncharismatic presence in multiple films. She also turned down the role of Peggy Carter because her husband wasn't playing Cap. Praise Odin for that! Scarlett and Hayley are goddesses, and Cap would have flopped horribly with Krasinski in the role. Maybe it was a hail of bullets that Marvel dodged. :woot:

Let him go. He's obsessed with the Scarjo vs. Emily Blunt thing.

Emily might still be part of the MCU.
We do not know yet.
And. John Krasinski has been cast as Jack Ryan in the new Amazon.
Series, which. I am looking forward to.

Blunt will hopefully be part of the MCU yet
Still don't understand the notion of her being some ideal casting for Black Widow
but I think she'll knock Carol out of the park instead

As far as Sharon, I really don't know what they can do to salvage this relationship at this point
General audiences don't like it, Chris Evans don't wike it, and Peggy is still casting too long of a shadow
Had they had Steve and Sharon fall for each other before the big 'Carter' reveal, it could've worked without offending most people's delicate sensibilities... but now? It may be too late to make this work

Its super crazy when I look at the marketing material, especially what few female figures that were made to go with CW of how many of them were Sharon Carter. She did virtually nothing action wise in the film. Its sad and a poor representation of her characterization in the film. I know it has to do with marketing rights but it makes it feel like Disney just wanted to have another female to go for their quota rather than actually making figures that went with the storyline.

And after the crazy give Cap a boyfriend campaign I think it might have completely wiped off Sharon for the future. I don't think the MCU will give Steve a boyfriend but with such avid support they are going to interpret it that people did not like the relationship set up between Steve and Sharon.

Nah, they have only to look at Arrow to see what listening to internet whackos does for you. They are not going to let the crazies influence the MCU in any way shape or form. See them totally ignoring the crazed Thor/Loki shippers for proof.

I was thinking about it because I read the LA Times calling Steve and Sharon relationship of "lackluster relationship". I think other sites were also saying that they didn't like his relationship with Sharon.
They will never do Cap gay or bi, but it can be negative for the future of Sharon in the MCU.
