Civil War Sharon carter A.K.A. Agent 13 - Part 3

The Bucky and Steve shipping isn't new. The Russos were all too glad to engage in the queerbaiting.

There's a difference between something that doesn't work out because the execution was half-assed, and something not working despite decent efforts.

Sharon doesn't have a future because Marvel didn't bother, and likely won't and wouldn't even if it was better received.

I was thinking about it because I read the LA Times calling Steve and Sharon relationship of "lackluster relationship". I think other sites were also saying that they didn't like his relationship with Sharon.
They will never do Cap gay or bi, but it can be negative for the future of Sharon in the MCU.

It's not a surprise because while the Russo Bros. did an amazing job, they did shovel Steve/Sharon to the wayside. That's why it's not getting the positive reception like other relationships they focused on.

Marvel dodged a bullet when Blunt had to bow out of IM2 and fans were spared her uncharismatic presence in multiple films. She also turned down the role of Peggy Carter because her husband wasn't playing Cap. Praise Odin for that! Scarlett and Hayley are goddesses, and Cap would have flopped horribly with Krasinski in the role. Maybe it was a hail of bullets that Marvel dodged. :woot:

Yeah, Marvel really dodged a bullet. Thank God they weren't able to get a beautiful, talented and popular actress like Emily Blunt in their films. :whatever:

If Sharon's relationship with Steve had been as well built as the one that he has with Widow, then we probably wouldn't have this many complaints.

Scarlett is beautiful, more talented than Blunt and far more popular. Blunt keeps being fancast in roles she isn't suited for because some fanboys will always prefer anyone other than the person who was cast. I can remember some people here whining that Krasinski should have been Cap even after Evans nailed the role in CATFA. They were probably the same folks who wanted a wrestler to play Thor. :lmao:

It might have helped if Marvel had hired a better actress for the role. EVC is very bland. She should have brought more energy to the role, especially in the tense scenes. Nothing seemed urgent for Sharon, even in the aftermath of the bombing. That lack of oomph came from EVC's flat performance. Had she invested Sharon with some spirit, a little spark of personality beyond the words she recited, the character might have gotten a better foothold in the MCU.

Several reviewers made negative comments on the abrupt Steve/Sharon kiss. The proximity to Peggy's funeral was noted, as well as Sharon's relationship to Steve's first love. It was so very awkward in setup and execution that even critics who don't care about comic book history were left cold.

Everyone knows that Marvel will never have a bi/LGBTQ major hero in the MCU, so all the fanboys having psychotic breaks over the hashtag should calm down. If anything, this will probably push the writers/directors to wave the "NOHOMO!" flag even harder next time out. Cap is far more likely to flash a nazi salute and shout, "Hail, HYDRA!" than he is to date another man because that's canon. HYDRA hates LGBTQ people right along with Jews , Blacks and other minorities, which would fit perfectly with the current frenzy.

If the Russo Bros. didn't think EVC is right for the role of Sharon, then they shouldn't have cast her in TWS then decide not to use her.

Im honestly starting to wonder if her casting was pushed on them.

I thought the Russos said that they had already seen her work in Revenge, which was like an audition for the role, and that they thought she looked like the character too. So I don't think she was pushed upon them. It sounds more like they wanted her.

People lie :ninja:

Who cares about Krasinski because he was never Marvel's first and only choice for Cap, it was always Evans. Emily Blunt on the other hand was Marvel's first choice for Black Widow until Fox screwed her and Marvel didn't accommodate. Blunt who is a golden globe winner and won the Critic's Choice Award 2015 for Best Action Female over Scarjo who is meh and wooden as BW to me. EB has the tall athletic physical stature and acting chops to have portrayed a great BW. But :whatever: I'll just have to wait for a reboot or another BW decades from now. Just wished they cast an actress like Elodie Yung who has the acting chops and not to mention the physicality to have done most of her stunts like in this badass airport hangar scene.

It would've helped if they cast a well known actress, maybe Emily Blunt or perhaps Rebecca Ferguson who is a stunning blonde then Sharon would've definitely been the female co-lead in TWS as was initially planned.

I thought EVC was good in CW. Her eulogy was great, the hotel lobby was good, but the kissing scene should've been done better. What tense scene? Did you see her face when she was kicking Bucky's arse, her face was determined and tense. The aftermath of the bombing she had to remain calm and firm while she gave out orders.

Okay the Russos were appointed TWS directors way before they cast Sharon Carter which took forever to cast. Maybe they screwed over Sharon for BW before the casting. There was a script ready but Russos pushed for BW to have Sharon's role. Then they reduced Sharon's role from a major to a minor which is why they cast EVC later on. Oh well just a guess.

Now that I think back on it, a lot of the reactions that I've heard and seen when it came to Steve's kiss with Sharon was met with people voicing their disapproval on it.

I honestly wonder on what the biggest factor is when it comes to those that aren't interested in this pairing.

The fact that Sharon is Peggy's Niece? People just don't like the pairing in general, regardless of Sharon's familial ties? Or that people have an stronger connection to Peggy and don't want to see Steve settle with anyone else?

What to be interested about it at all for non comic-book reader? It's like Cap suddenly kissed Maria Hill, but it's even worse, at least Hill is not Peggy's niece.

Sometimes I even think that Russos screwed up Staron on purpose, because I can't think how one could make it more boring even if he tried. Steve is just using Sharon in this film, doing nothing for her. The dialogs have nothing romantic lines at all. Compare to Wanda and Vision. "No one dislikes you, Wanda.", "For people to see you... as I do.", "Wanda, I think you hurt Vision's feelings".
Cap in this film don't care much about Sharon, he shows more attention and interest to Wanda. He could steal the shield and wings himself, like he did in TWS, and not ask Sharon to risk her job for him. And Sharon... What is her motive really to do it other than that she has her eyes on Steve? The movie never bothers with explanations.

There's no proof that Marvel forced them to cast EVC.

i never said there was.

I think it was because It wasn't handled well. Come on it happened like "right after" Peggy's death.
My friend next to me said: "Come on with your old girl's granddaughter" (I corrected him but he said "Same difference"

Now THAT is Black Widow! From the moment she first appears, I see Natasha immediately.

Blunt wouldve been so great as Widow.

Not that Johannson is bad, she just isn't that interesting to me.

I think there's enough in TWS to explain their attraction. Cap literally asks her out.

And yes, Emily Blunt would have been miles better as Black Widow.

They should have given Steve & Sharon a private scene together like they did with Vision and Wanda where they get to talk to each other, which would've made the kiss later 100% better. I saw a photo of them after the funeral that seems to be cut, and that is a damn shame.

Seriously? That was literally one scene that occured after Natasha told Steve to ask that "nurse" out. And he wasn't interested enough to call Sharon after TWS, when Natasha in the end told him to do so. People are not buying it, because that was VERY far from "enough".

I blame Whedon for ignoring it in AOU, and the Russo Bros. for forgetting about it completely. They should have mentioned it in CW about how he was too busy or too shy to call her.

the scene is in the film, Steve and Sharon share a moment before Sam shows up and tells them about The Winter Soldier resurfacing .

Steve is shy, reserved, mannerly around women........he doesn't need to be seen leering at a woman as he licks his lips and elbows the nearest guy to him saying "I'm gonna get me some of dat." so that you know he likes someone.
