Shazam Shazam! Box Office Thread | Early Predictions

Rampage actually dropped 35% on Infinity War's second weekend. 25% was on the next weekend (but at the same time, Rampage was on its 4th weekend unlike Shazam on its 5th weekend)
Anyway, I also believe it will drop around 40%. But 50% is also a possibility.

I find your lack of faith disturbing...

Shazam has been out for awhile.
That might work against it, this weekend, just a little bit.

But apart from Avengers Endgame, and Captain Marvel (which, I'm sure many people have watched it by now.) there are not many choices that are popular apart from Shazam, Curse of Llorona and Breakthrough. (Us, Pet Semetary and Dumbo have stayed in Theaters for sometime now so that's disadvantage or them.)

Think it’s losing like 1,100 theaters this weekend.

Japan update for May 2 from corpse:

¥x35,000,000 ($315,000), +83%, ¥585,000,000 ($5.2 million), Shazam! (Warner Bros.) Day 14

Still four more days to go in the “Super Golden Week” holiday.

I think the sequel will do much better. People will catch up with it over the next couple of years.

I imagine WB will do Black Adam first then Shazam 2.

Latest from Box Office Mojo....

Shazam! (2019) - Box Office Mojo

Worldwide: $347,443,790
BOM haven't updated the Japan numbers yet, their Japan numbers are till 21 st April 2019.

BOM lists Japan collections at $1.967 M but we know that latest figures are at $5.2 M. So, that's a difference of $3.233 M. If we add that number to Worldwide Total given by BOM

$347.443 + $3.233 = $350. 675 M

So, the worldwide figure has crossed $350 M mark already.

Ugly weekend: 2.2, -60% per deadline. May be worth noting that just about all the top 10 are looking light atm (including Endgame) with The Intruder the only one really hitting projections.

Does anyone know of international updates, BOM still has it at $214,700,000, dated 28/04/2019 ?

It did in fact lose about 1,000 theaters which I was not expecting. Rampage for instance only lost about 350. That may be the biggest reason (if it hadn't lost so many screens it would be doing around 3 million going by the average per theater). Although Shazam usually has stronger saturdays than projected.

People were saying that Shazam is the Antman of the DCEU. We all know they also kept the budget real small for Venom and Dead Pool and even w.out looking we know it doesnt compare favourably to those movies, which honestly was our optimistic expectations from most of us before it released, but I'm guessing its still on par w.Antman.

If its pulling Antman numbers then we can use that as a template to guess it's future growth. Bringing in Antman numbers is still very good and respectable it only looks bad compared to other MCU grosses and I dont necessarily think that's a fair benchmark for a number of reasons, especially for a DCEU movie. In other qords I can see how one could look at Antmans box office as disappointing and look at Shazams as not so much so even though the budgets were similar and the totalngrosses are similar (assuming they are- I'm not 100% sure thats the case).

Warner should have released it around the beginning of June. I believe it would have done better overseas as well as a summer film.

It is not doing ant man numbers. Ant man grossed 510 million worldwide and 180 million in the U.S and that was years ago.

Eh, it’s still got the fifth-most domestic screens of any film so I don’t think that adds up, though it might play a part. It’s early but it looks like almost every movie is underperforming expectations this weekend, even Endgame. We might just be seeing a hangover effect after last week’s giant opening. Rough for Shazam in any event though.
