... It ends in sex.

There have been a lot of links between you and Tom Hiddleston, about you two dating. I don’t know if that’s something you confirm, but how do you feel —

"I mean, we definitely are friends and we've known each other for about four years. And we happened to be at a restaurant at a wrong time having dinner. We all go out to dinner."

How do you react when you see that in the press?

"Well, apparently, I'm dating Chris Evans, and apparently, I've dated Jeremy Renner, so I guess that... I don’t react to it."

So you're not dating Tom?

"No. I mean people can think what they want to think."

I want to say I can't believe she has to answer these questions while premiering her movie but it's so disappointingly common. It's a shame.

One would think it would be enough to ask her a thousand questions about the MCU along with the dozen questions about the movie she is currently promoting.

Unfortunately, she'll be subjected to these questions because she's part of the franchise not to mention that her sisters have been tabloid fodder for years. She'll be subjected to it until she learns how to shut it down.

Actually her answers suggest that she's close: "people can think what they want to think."

It is such a vicious cycle. The "people" eagerly consume gossip about the "stars". And of course, the "press" are there to snapping pics, grabbing sound bytes and/or blatantly making up stories for consumption.

These days there are fewer and fewer filters on how people behave in public and what is fit to print/air/upload and of course consumers are consumers.

And Olsen, Hiddleston, et al just want to hang out and have dinner.

Elizabeth Olsen has quickly become a bigger name in Hollywood after taking on the role of Scarlet Witch in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," but the actress told Business Insider at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend that she's not looking to build the character into its own brand within Marvel Studios.
When asked if she would ever want to do a Scarlet Witch stand-alone movie the 26-year-old pondered for a second then replied:
"I'm not sure, honestly. I love my character, I just don't know how that would fit in the whole Marvel universe or if it would even be necessary."
Olsen is at TIFF for the premiere of her new film "I Saw The Light," where she plays Audrey Mae Williams, the first wife of legendary singer Hank Williams.
The film, in which her performance could garner her awards consideration later this year, was shot between "Ultron" and the next Marvel movie she's in, "Captain America: Civil War."
Olson feels its critical for her to spend the time between Marvel movies doing projects that aren't related to what she does for the billion-dollar franchise.
"The good thing about Marvel is they have so many other things going on that they have to plan their year so specifically," she told Business Insider. "I already know my block of time for them for the next year, and I have a lot of time until then, so I'm in a position right now where I'm trying to find another film like 'I Saw The Light.'"
Having already completed her scenes for "Civil War" (in theaters May 6, 2016), Olsen said that Scarlet Witch in the movie is "still conflicted and confused" but that there's a progression in her character that she believes Marvel fans will enjoy.
The movie will focus on a rift in the Avengers that leads to members siding with either Captain America or Iron Man, and Olsen is that Scarlet Witch is being depicted as a "wild card" in the movie's marketing.
But back to that stand-alone Scarlet Witch movie. She would never consider it?
"The pressure of a tentpole movie on my shoulders doesn't feel comfortable," Olsen said with a laugh.

Im glad they have a schedule like that for their actors. Marvel makes entertaining pop art movies and Im totally fine with that. I dont want arthouse dramas or Academy Award fodder, I want fun, colorful, pulpy, action packed sci-fi genre films that make sense in the context of their connected universe. If I want something else Ill go see some other movies.

She's ok.

Wanda's version of ok: She's not bat**** crazy. I'm pretty sure she's still a little messed up, like sad her brother's gone? I can't wait to see her new powers in Civil War. Maybe we get some crazy reality-altering powers in Civil War.

Elizabeth Olsen has big plans for Scarlet Witch

Brian Truitt, USA TODAY 12:43 p.m. EDT October 3, 2015

Elizabeth Olsen loves her witchy woman.

The actress also enjoys other roles as well, such as playing Audrey Williams in the upcoming Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light in November, but spell-weaving telekinetic Wanda Maximoff is a favorite for Olsen. She stars as the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron (now out on Blu-ray/DVD) — where the character was introduced with her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) — and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War (in theaters May 6), and probably will be in pretty much every big Marvel Studios movie after that. (She'll be needed when cosmic villain Thanos comes to town in Infinity War.)

“It’s so crazy and mindblowing being part of something that has that wide audience internationally,” says Olsen, a part of the new Avengers team in Civil War along with Falcon (Anthony Mackie), the enigmatic Vision (Paul Bettany) and of course Captain America (Chris Evans).

“I am loving every time I get to go back to playing Scarlet Witch, and it is really nice to have the balance of doing something character driven and dramatic” like I Saw the Light, the actress adds. “It’s very technical, these Marvel movies.”

Olsen talks with USA TODAY about a couple big Age of Ultron moments (spoilers ahead!), what’s happening in Civil War and what kind of character she doesn’t want to play in a Star Wars movie.

Do you feel an ownership of Scarlet Witch now after filming two movies?

Absolutely! I have a movement coach for the way she throws her hexes so I’m very protective over that. It’s something that was created out of whatever uniquely that we made up for the first film. Now we have this huge attachment to it and we don’t want to see it messed up. It’s not like there’s stunt rehearsal for it — she and I go create it and then people say yes or no. We have a trajectory plan of how we want it to evolve and change. That creative physical power is really cool.

What advice would you give to someone cosplaying as Scarlet Witch at a comic convention or just dressing up as you for Halloween?

I have no idea. (Laughs) I don’t understand cosplay as it is because I never really liked Halloween as a kid. But dressing up is fun for people, so as long as they are having a good time, I guess that’s all that counts.

Did they tell you Quicksilver’s fate in Age of Ultron right from the beginning?

Yeah, but it’s also like a superhero movie. It’s insane but they just made a whole television series (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) about a dead guy. (Laughs) So who knows? But we did always know how that was going to end. At the same time, they had to shoot two endings because they didn’t want the crew to know or want it to get out. They did an incredible job of keeping that under wraps.

In your own Marvel experience, what is the weirdest bit of secrecy you’ve had to deal with?

When you get the pages that you’re filming that day, you’re not allowed to take those home with you. They account for everyone at the end of the day and then they shred it. I took this one photograph, it was actually on (Civil War). Barry, who’s our security guy and is amazing, he can detect a paparazzi from like a 15-mile radius. He’s incredible. Obviously he can’t lock down public streets and bridges and things like that, but he locks down everything he can. I have this photo of Jenny my movement coach and I posing for a photo on my phone, and then in the background we asked Barry to try and interrupt us and scream at us. They have a zero tolerance policy for releasing photos on a set. It’s pretty serious — you feel like you’re doing something for the government and you’re making a movie.

Now that you mention it, what’s happening with Scarlet Witch in Civil War?

She’s coming into her own and starting to understand and have conflict with how she wants to use her abilities. It’s a dramatic conflict within her and obviously there’s conflict within the (Avengers) as well. I like that they didn’t release Scarlet Witch in the promo photos for the teams — it places her as being a wild card, and I like her having that kind of edge that people don’t know what she’s capable of. They can fear her because she is so incredibly powerful in a different way than the rest of the heroes for the most part. I like playing that role within the gang.

And she’s that much more unpredictable because she just lost her twin brother and this new family is fracturing. Who knows what she’ll do.

Yeah, and I love that about her. So many times when people roll their eyes about, “Oh superhero movies…” and then they see them and they’re like, “They’re actually really awesome.” People don’t expect how invested they become because they’re actually great conflicts that we get to play and great action and great humor — there’s a lot to latch onto as an audience member.

You do hear folks every so often ringing the death knell for superhero movies. Because you’re so invested in this universe, what’s your take on that?

I’m having fun doing them and I’m also having a lot of fun doing other things as well. It’s not a make-or-break thing but obviously I don’t think they’re going to go away. I mean, they’ve been around my entire childhood and they go back to television shows in the ‘50s so that’s just a silly thing to say. (But) it’s very bizarre the finances behind making movies at studios — either they have $200 million or they have like $2 million. Films that are middle budget are very hard to make. So it’s a very strange time right now financially in film and that’s why so many people are going to Netflix and Amazon and creating miniseries. That’s where they can tell the stories that aren’t being told through film. That has to event out at some point – it can’t just be tentpoles and more tentpoles.

Since you’re nicely entrenched into the Disney family, would you want to do an animated Pixar flick maybe or a Star Wars movie?

Oh, I love Star Wars. (Laughs) I really love Star Wars. I would love to do voiceover work as well. I think I might have tried to a job once in voiceover and it was like four years ago and I don’t even know if it was made.

Who would be your preferred Star Wars character to play: hero or villain?

Good question. The reason why I love Scarlet Witch so much is that she can play both sides, and I think that’s just a fun place to be as an actor. I don’t find the hero that interesting to play. It’s very trapping for an actor. I look at what Chris has been able to do as Captain America, and he has that down pat but so many people could have messed that one up. He’s so earnest and genuine and a do-gooder, and Chris has been able to make it a dynamic character where I can’t wait to see the new Captain America. That’s all him.

There is a nice moment in Age of Ultron between Wanda and Vision for anyone who knows their comic history. If there was going to be a Vision/Scarlet Witch movie, what does that look like?

It has to be House of M. That’s still all I want to do, I don’t care. I would just love to have make-believe children and have him play along with it and then just decide to destroy all mutants. That would be so fun but obviously that would never happen. (Laughs)

Yeah, they’d have to buy the X-Men from Fox but who knows, that might happen next week.

(Laughs) Yes, that would be really difficult.

Funny, she's so keen on playing out House of M. Sorry kid, ain't gonna happen (and it probably be too dark for the Mcu anyway).

I'm glad she's not trying to downplay SW"s mutancy like Marvel is trying to do.

I know that there's zero chance for Marvel to get back the X-Men rights in the next 100 years, but I still wish it would happen someday, and House of M is one of the reasons why (Avengers vs X-Men is another).

Wanda & Pietro are not mutants in the MCU. Period. They can't be because of the licensing agreement with Fox. Which is why they were (apparently*) given their powers by Strucker via the Mind Stone in AOU. No amount of fan whining is ever going to change that.

* There is a chance that the Twins were latent Inhumans whose inherent abilities were merely awakened by the Mind Stone instead of terrigenesis. That could explain why all of Strucker's other test subjects died: they didn't possess Kree genes. This theory is probably completely off-base, of course. :cwink:

Duh... that has nothing to do with the comics which is what I'm referring to. They took away their connection to mutants completely just to spite Fox. As a business decision I can see this being OK but as a fan it's a bit egotistical.

Oh and also.:whatever:

Ugh, I'm just irritated I have to listen to that awful Russian accent again. Too bad she didn't go the way of Quicksilver.

It's Sokovian and since it's a made up country how would one know if the accent was awful or not? :oldrazz:

"You deedn't see zat coming?"

:woot: Yeah the accent is a little on the silly side. Who knows, maybe the Russos will want her to bring it down just a notch.

Also, xeno000 - your avy... :lmao:

I liked the accents personally. Yes they're silly, but then again so is a lot of this film-verse, embrace it. Plus, it's a fictional accent from a fictional country in a fictional CB movie-verse (why people keep calling it "Russian" is beyond me? Maybe they just don't pay attention). It can sound like, whatever the Hell they want it to sound like.

I deal with Eastern European people all the time at my job, and I don't think it sounded far off at all
admittedly, Pietro's was considerably worse than Wanda's, imo

but yeah, fake country = fake accents

I still don't exactly get why they made up a fake country though, considering Marvel has always tried to be more "real world" than DC's fake earth, but it is what it is

If I remember correctly, they're from a fictional country/place in the comics as well. Also, Marvel isn't trying to be THAT real world, considering that we've gotten Asgard already and will be getting Wakanda (and presumably Attilin as well) soon enough.
