I just watched it! All in all it was a great movie BUT there were just things that I didn’t like. WARNING: I’ll be spoiling a lot of the scenes. Please don’t read if you have not seen the film or if you don’t want it get spoiled. The opening sequence, travel through the DNA was still there. This time the cure was involved. The cure’s effect to the mutant DNA or something like that. At Jean’s House 20 years back was a cool scene. A younger and leaner Mags and Prof was cool. But I didn’t like the musical score! For some reason it wasn’t as good as the first two films.

Here it goes…My comment on the characters and their scenes.
First, Storm. I am a big fan of the character and I love what Ratner did to her. If Singer directed the film I doubt she won’t be like what she is now. She had a prominent role and is essential member to the team. She had a lot of power display which she deserves after two movies. Her speech was really good, I almost cried. Her balcony scene looked interesting, but no. Deleted Scenes!!! I didn’t see the flip scene after flying in the danger room. I’ve been wanting to see it…or did I just miss it. The tidal wave scene. Confirmed. It was deleted. Also, the scene where she said “They can’t cure us” was a little different. I need the DVD now!

Cyclops. Poor Cyke, After tripping and falling in X2. He didn’t even tried to get up in X3. Was it because of the shooting schedule that they decided to kill him? I don’t know. He didn’t have the qualities that his comic counterpart has. I’m still in denial that he died. He could have done more. He could have been there in the final battle….Not the leader he’s supposed to be.

Beast. A great addition to the film. He was an important character I think. In the scene where he said “You don’t shed on the couch” I saw it in a different camera angle from the 7 min. preview or was it on close-up.

Angel. Although he has one of the shortest scenes. I’m glad that he is in the movie. He could be a full fledged member if there is X4. Nuff said…

Iceman. I’m not a fan of his but I get to appreciate him in this movie. His Iced-up form looks great! Now he has the reason to Ice-up…He was challenged by Pyro’s fire…

Shadowcat. I really liked Ellen Page after watching the movie. I did saw the scene where she called Juggernaut ****head scene.

Colossus. I did not like his transformations. X2 was better. I don’t know… he was sort of blurry for me… Or maybe it was just the screen.

Rogue. What the hell happened! The only scene where she gets to display her powers was where she absorbed Colossus’ powers. Rogue fans have the right to protest! I thought she was going to fly but not! And she took the cure…which really sucked. Her worth of being an x-man is being questioned. How can you let someone be a member if she does nothing but put people in coma. If only Singer made a story between her and
Mystique in X1. Like After running away from her parents, she took Rogue under her wing and trained her. Then she met Ms. Marvel. Then she didn’t tell the X-Men that she has super strength and flight until X3. Then she could be useful. Then she didn’t have to take the cure because she likes her power of strength and flight. I still don’t like her decision of taking the cure. She was just desperate to touch someone and that was just one of her excuses…Hrrr!!!

Wolverine. He may have a smaller screen time than Storm, but still he’s always the Star. I also don’t like how he takes on the role as the leader which was unlikely to the comic version. He out lead Storm, it was like…I’m the guy Storm, I should lead the team… He also has the grossest scenes. Was that Spike? The rumored Omega Red wasn’t even there or Silver Samurai…

Mystique. As always, she’s fun to watch. But sadly she had a smaller screen time. After she gets cured and has been rejected by Mags… it was just sad. But a funny result instead after. Also, there was a pic in the X3 site with a comic version hairstyle…I didn’t see it! I was waiting for it…dammit!

Callisto. I like the character. But her powers were totally different, the mutant detecting power or something was ok but I don’t like the fact that she has super speed. Quicksilver could have been in the movie. And she may not be dead…which could lead to a possible X4.

Pyro. No drastic change. Just the hair. And I wasn’t impressed either by his powers. But he can act…

Multiple Man. Arclight. Quill?.Psylocke. Great to see some new additions…Psylocke has no british accent though and no psyichic knife either. Multiple Man was cool. Arclight was also cool too and Quill. Is the character still named Quill? I didn’t see the name on the credits.

Professor X. Poor guy! Dead meat! Well, Not really…That leaves me a lot of questions.

Magneto. Costume wise he looks even better. Now that’s Magneto! I get to appreciate his costume now. This is where he really becomes Magneto. This is where you’d realize how dangerous this man is…The best of him is seen in X3…

Now…Dark Phoenix. I kinda like how she turned out. She was even scarier than the ones in those horror movies. I think the concept of having her with black eyes was in the comic X-Men the End. She was just freaky. Now I didn’t expect the Kiss would go into a point that they were about to have sex. That was just weird…having sex with a mad lady. Things that I wanted to see…emerging from the water! Yes she did but you could only see her silhouette! It sucks! No Phoenix effect!!! Hrrr…I was expecting her to display such power while hovering on air! But no…it was more like exorcist…there could have been a BIG Phoenix fire! I was disappointed on that one…

Hmmm…there. The movie was epic and big in size…but some endings were not how I wanted it to end, particularly Cyclops and Rogue. Jean I thought could be well at the end of the movie but she’s dead again…Too much death. They were supposed to be the strongest, but NO. Is there a “The adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix” in the future? I wish they were transported to the future or something like that, just to keep them alive...I expected too much I guess that I was more disappointed than pleased...Maybe if I watched it again tomorrow, then my thoughts might just change...

Ok I've seen the movie....

I really really wanted this movie to be awesome! I wanted it to be better than X1 and X2...so I am going to keep this review as honest as possible.

Everybody knows what happens by now in this film. So I am just going to concentrate on what I liked and what I didnt like.

Famke Janssen......completely AWESOME!!! The highlight of the film. She had little dialogue compared to some but what she got she was awesome with.

Phoenix Effects...no firebird, but the extent of her powers was awesome.

Magneto.....great stuff by McKellan in this film.

Jean V Xavier....this was a fantastic scene...the effects were great..and X got owned here.

Cyclops.....he was good with what he had.

Storm....good to see her kick some arse...a good performance by Ms Berry overall.

I'm the Juggernaut b****!!....not as bad as I thought it would be...pretty damn funny actually...the biggest laugh of the movie in the cinema I saw it in.

Rogue....no real development here...it's likely that she has taken the cure.

Mystique.....she was great, but they could have included her more..I would have actually liked to have seen her actions more when she was human, as opposed to seeing it on videotape.

Angel....good character..lack of screentime..not great development.

Kitty/Iceman/Rogue....doesnt grip the audience that much.

Wolverine and Jean at the end....why didnt she rip his adamantium apart?

Phoenix levitating......some of it was good....some of it was bad wirework.

Phoenix de-atomising everyone on Alcatraz....awesome....it wasnt sand in the trailers to those who said it was....it was someones atoms being ripped apart one by one!!

Storm flying......good.

Overall it was a good film, I enjoyed it for what it was, even if it wasnt all that excellent. Better than X1...not as good as X2 in terms of story and characters...but better action than both put together.

And guys and gals.....it is explained in this film that Jean is the most powerful mutant in existance...nobody stands a chance against her when she is at her full potential. She rocks!!!

I'd give this film 7/10!!! Not amazing but very good! :D

you know i haven't watched the movie and you guys keep saying Angel was a pointless character but if the next few movies go the Age of Apocalypse route why would Angel be pointless??

just saw the movie guys full review later as im gona sleep now im really tired.
just a few short words tho this movie is better then x1 and as good as x2 imo. ive been saying this alot but x3 is sorta like an x2 extension. it feels like a huge climax from the start so i didnt mind the short running time and low amount of character development as much. the action was great tho and its still longer then x1 =O!:) im sure in the end tho x2 will be more memorable to people.

Juggernaut: Do you know who I am!?!

Me: Oh don't you ****ing dare

Juggernaut: I'M THE JUGGERNAUT, *****!

Me: ... mother of God

I though Beast's "Oh my stars and garters" was more corny than that tbh.

 He actually said that? At what point in the movie?

when he's looking out the X Jet cockpit at the GG Bridge with Storm and Wolverine, quite corny imo!

For me, it works. It's his classic phrase, for god's sake. Like his signature line.

Do you lot read the comics? or are you all 'filmy' types?

No, I don't really read the comics. I started being an X-fan from the cartoon. Its still corny btw, even if it a classic line from the comics. Thats why movie dialogue is different from comic dialogue.

Righty then,

Just got back from seeing XMEN 3 and in one word, I thought it was AWESOME. I have waited many many years for Phoenix to finally appear on the big screen and my wish came true this evening.

Sure, the film missed out some things. Some of it may have even appeared corny. All part of the XMEN universe (in my personal opinion).

The effects surrounding Phoenix were breath takingly done. I have been told I sat there many times with a shocked face and my hand over my mouth in awe!

We all knew this was going to happen though. I stand by my personal belief's that no film can measure up to ones own imagination. We all would have liked to see maybe some things added in it (*hears the scream of the Gambit fans!*).

I thought all the characters were very well done. Though I do agree with Empire Magazines review when it says that Angel is "forgettable". Though personally I also think he was also cast wrong.

Great film, 10 out of 10 for me. Luckily the staff were nice enough to point out that there were the extra 15 seconds after the credits so I stood waiting around, honestly expecting to see a Jean Grey hand coming through the ground ala Carrie (that would have been too much!). It was a great hook.

Awesome film, go and see it and be taken in by it. But please remember that your imagination is no comparison.

I never read the comics tbh. I'm sure it worked in the comics but it was kinda corny in the movie. I'm still really annoyed they never fixed his collar line in that shot, it really stands out for me!

i have seen the movie but sorry to ask that can somebody tell me who is this guy?

Sure..but it's the ONE SINGLE PHRASE that is quintessentially Hank McCoy.

I think some understanding of the source material is required, Lord...

Similary, in New X-Men, Magneto is much like in X3, about 'building bridges' etc... They didn't put it all on screen...but it is the inspiration.

I cheered inside when Beast said that line, and the time he chose to say it (as an exclamation when they saw the repositioned bridge) fitted perfectly...

i feel like i want to rush over to your place with some comics to show you!

First things first:

Super Short Spoilerless Review (c)

Well, I've just watched he movie and hell, what a mixed bag. Great SFX, action, acting and "thrills" plaged with a limited plot, superficial characters and suplerfulous scenes, which is shocking for a 100 minute movie. And also a big deal of, say, lack of courage by some people. It basically feels like the 3rd act of a movie which, from a franchise point of view, I guess is correct, but doesn't mean they should've tried much harder.

Thus, I give it a 7/10, because, in the end it is the final act of a trilogy. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't hesitate in giving it a much lower grade.

Beware HEAVY Spoilers.

I must confess I liked the pre-credits scenes very much, specially the one with a younger Magneto (not yet) and Prof. Xavier (straight out of ST: TNG :D ) It was a great opening scene which sets the tone for the relationships and the balance between the three characters. The next scene with Angel was very visceral but it was also very misleading as we are led to belive that he will be a major player in the movie but ends up having a grand total of about 5 lines of dialogue (almost surpassed by Multiple Man).

Then things start getting hot. In a bad way.

Cyclops fans have been, since the beggining, complaning about the lack of importance given to him in these movies. In the first one he was clearly the leader but had lackluster dialogue and very little overall impact on the plot. The 2nd one gave his even less screen time but what he had was very well used with much credit to Marsden.
Some still were optimistic about his movie because with the whole "dark Phoenix" stuff, it was a great opportunity to give him some protagonism, since his scenes with Jean could be very emotional. None of that happens and instead, not only he dies in the fisrt 15-20m minutes after about 1:30 of screen time and little dialogue, THEY DON'T EVEN SHOW HIM GETTING KILLED. I mean sure, they could've cut the scene exactly as they did and then show his actual death latter in the movie (for example, just before Logan kills her) to give further depth to her internal struggle. It just seemed like Marsden was just about to live to Australia to shoot his scenes in you-know-what when they decided to shoot his scenes, not even leaving time to shoot his death scene properly. Or maybe this was all just producer backlash for him accepting a role from you-know-which movie.

Speaking of deaths or supposed deaths, Xavier's one could have been great except, not only does it also occur too early in the movie, they also just throw it all into the garbage in a stupid and unecessary post-credits "clip". More on this later.

The final act on Alcatraz was all but amazing in scope and on-screen results. It was really my favorite part of the movie and culminated on Magneto losing his powers and a very emotional death by Jean (yes, I did shed a tear or two). Kitty played a very nice role on the big fight (They showed a trailer for Hard Candy just before the movie. Ellen Page has a great future before her) and I got a big shill on my spine together with a big silly smile when the X-Men got out of the jet and made their "last stand".

As I said in the beggining, this movie benefficted from an excelent work by pretty much every actor. McKellen, Stewart, Jackman, Grammer even Marsden, really, everyone is simply great even with all the limited screen time. Unfortunately they are plaged by some poor dialogue and strange writing decisions. Did anyone else notice how the Professor kept picking on Logan? "I told you so." I told you so?! Shut the f*** up, "Wheels"! We're on a serious f***ing crisis and you're acting like a 12 year-old? What the hell was that all about?

But all that is nothing compared to the two "true" endings for the movie that, not only are completelly unnecessary but imply a lot more things. First, Magneto playing chess on he park. Now I liked the idea of stripping him out of his powers and just making him a faceless old man in the crowd and a full Homo Sapiens from a bilogical point of view (a much bigger punishment than just killing him), specially after his own reaction to Mystique's fall. It could have been and great scene if they just showed him raising his hand, trying hard to move the piece but with no actual results. That would've made a great ending. Instead we're left with a half-assed ending which not only implies that the cure was pretty much fake but also that Rogue won't be able to be close to Bobby for too long (If this doesn't happen then it's even worse than at first sight).
Worse than that, the already mentioned clip of the Professor waking up on Moira's facilities. First, HOW THE HELL DID HE GET THERE?! You'd thought that Storm and Logan wouldn't just leave his body under all the debris and without being sure he was really dead. Or, for that matter, MAKE A FREAKIN' FUNERAL. On top of that, it also implies that Scott must also be alive (the same thoughts about Rogue's cure apply here). Why would Jean kill him and not the Professor?

So, in the end, it's merely a average movie (that's how I voted in the poll), with some very emotional moments and many wincks at the comics but plagued by some serious flaws which could've been easily prevented. Apart from some of the editing, I really can't blame Ratner for any of it, since he was pretty much a director for hire. Which means that all the fuss about the producers was probabily true. Not only did they rush things, they also lacked corage to keep their biggest decisions. With those two ending it's like they wanted to cause emotional impact on the viewer but later later were like "Oh no, we were only kidding! They're actually alive! Don't you feel cheated now?"

Yes. Yes, I do.

Let the 4th movie come and hopefully, with it, Apocalypse.

Edit: OK, this got longer than I expected... :o

I guess so. I'll have to see how it is on screen. I knew that it was a line he's said many times in the comics from people here before this btw.

I tried to look out for him, but I didn't even see him in that scene, let alone learn anything about him!
He wasn't in the first trailer was he? They added him to that shot only recently, so you'd think there was a purpose to it! Yet I can't even say I saw a brief flash of him.

THE REVIEW OF A MOVIE THEY TITLED THREE...

The Special FX are rather poor, so is the overall acting. The Music sucks, and story is as good as not there. overall, avoid this flick...
But enough about the Omen, whos not part three anyway, lets talk about X-Men...

I usually am sceptically about sequels. Blade two was the best of them all, but the third one was below any expectation. I like Mummy Returns and Terminator 2, but their sequels just suck big dick.
So i was sceptical about X3, but before i start my review, be warned that it contains HEAVY SPOILERS...

Here we go:

After a cool opening with a young charles and a young Eric, we continue with a young angel who ripps out his wings. Its obvious that he hates to be a mutant.
fast forward to a near future and a huge sentinel that attacks our x-men friends. cyclops is not with them, and overall its the clip we saw earlier, with wolverine taking the sentinel out.
program terminated - danger room sequence. cyclops is down. he hears jeans voice since days, and sets out to find her. eventually hes doing so, and kisss her just before he bites the dust - the first one in a row.
a few sequences later we are sure: phoenix has taken over. while magneto wants to kill the cure, xavier wants to find and secure jean. bad luck for him, she rips him apart - literally...
she then joins magneto in stopping the cure, that is about to cure rogue. doesnt really matter, she is as useless as angel in this flick. so is mystique, and because of that she gets cured early on, just to be throw anway by magneto, who recruites multiple man (as useless as angel btw) and juggernaut, who is cooler than expected.
beast rocks the movie, and his fighting style is just awesome.
****loads of mutants (almost everyone you saw in the comic has a cameo) and hundrets of special effects later, the final battle between magneto, phoenix and the x-men takes a devastating end. and the last two clips (one before andone after the credits roll) give a glimpse of hope that its not over yet.
would be sad, after what i just saw.

what worked:
the stor was solid and the acting was superb. storm and wolve were great, and magneto was as allways brilliant. plot twists were not really there, but thats okay since the character interaction made it up brilliantly. also, we finally get to see iceman in his icy form :)

what didnt worked:
some characters bite the dust too soon. while i understand that cyclops had to die (he had no chance from the beginning anyway) i just dont understand how phoenix was able to kill the professor that easily. why would he let it happen in the first place? not very logical.
angel is as useless as cyclops in the first one, and rogue isjust there to be there. at leasty kitty has some use, but overall, any mutant except wolvie and storm is just ther to complete a lineup. also, the movie feels a bit rushed at some places, and the finale between jean and wolvie (who takes cyclops place right away from the start) feels so tackeled on.

overall, this ine may be the shortest, but also the best one of the three. worht the 8 bucks i spend. dont forget to sit untill the credits are over, or you will miss a cool final scene...
