Shoot 'Em in the Head: The Zombie Survival Horror RPG

This looks interesting, though I don't have time to play. What rules are in place for the zombies? What counts as a zombie? More importantly, what caused this? There are literally dozens of zombie stories out there, and not all of them are compatible.

Is Ash Williams allowed? I mean, there are zombies in The Evil Dead, but it's not usually considered to be your traditional "zombie movie" per se.

Go for it. Just make sure to come up with a different way he gets the chainsaw hand, if you have him have it all.

More or less, the characters are paired with the zees from the Romero films/Walking Dead. A virus turns the recently dead into zombies and anyone who dies, be it from bite or any other kind of means, turns into a zombie.

What about the mutants from Resident Evil or magic-based undead like the Deadites? And speaking of Deadites, what about non-zombie "zombies", like the Marvel Zombies or the people in 28 <amount of time> Later?

Personally I would think animals shouldn't be infected, but that's just me.

Simple. They don't exist.

meh. you're overthinking things. Just think your basic zombie apocolypse.

I was actually gonna make him my second character. But if you're interested in him I'd defer to you, as I've got other ideas.

Unacceptable. I demand you both fight for the right in a public deathmatch. The loser will come back as the zombie leader.

I'll get an app up either tonight or tomorrow. My back's acting up again, so it will depend on how long I can sit up to type....:csad:

Too late. I already have a different app up. Hope you're ready for some company, Byrd!

Character you would like to play: Columbus
Original Character or Established? (If established, please state what medium your character first appeared in): Established in the Zombieland

Basic history of the character up until this point:
Columbus is a nervous, anti-social, overcareful, wimpy college kid, but has managed to survive the outbreak by adhering to a strict list of rules. Even though he wouldn’t be anyone’s first guess as a survivor, Columbus has managed to become a decent shot with firearms, as well as coming up with fairly inventive ways to kill, or re-kill, the undead. He contributes his survival to having no close friends or family, and to being a relative shut-in while at college.

When we find Columbus, he’s headed towards the city that he’s taken up as his name to see if his parents have survived the initial outbreak.

Character's Skills: Columbus is resourceful and careful, two important traits to have in the infected world. His list of rules have kept him alive to this point, and he has no desire to break away from them.

Character's Items: Columbus carries with him a simple double barreled shotgun and a suitcase of clothes and some rations/supplies.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?:
Zombieland is my favorite zombie movie, bar none. On top of that, Columbus is a character I can relate with, being a little dorky and shy myself. Plus he’ll get to make out with Emma Stone…

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG :
The everyman character. He’s not going to take out a horde of Zombies by himself. He’s going to run and hide the first opportunity he gets, yet be a bit sarcastic to the other characters as he does it.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in:

“Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap,” I mutter to myself as I run away from two of the freaks as they chase me down the main street of the town I just entered.

Rule #1: Cardio

At least, what I surmise is the main street of the place I’m in. It’s got the only streetlight I’ve seen in a week, so I’m going to go with that. I really, really hate the Midwest sometimes. But then again, I’m not sure if we’ll ever need stoplights again after the outbreak.

I turn and fire a shot into the legs of one of them, emptying one of the barrels of my shotgun. I had never fired a weapon before three weeks ago, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. The shell rips through its leg and drops it to the ground, ensuring it won’t be running after me anymore. I quickly fill the other barrel, looking back slightly as the other thing begins to gain ground.

I quickly scramble over a car and roll as I get down, thankful I had a full morning of stretching before leaving last night’s hiding place.

Rule #18: Limber up

As the undead scrambles over the car, I turn and fire twice into his chest and head, finally killing it.

Rule #2: Double tap

My name is Columbus. I am a survivor, and I’ve got no ****in’ clue what to do next.

APPROVED!

Hmm...since I got a Columbus with me, what if we skip ahead past the events of the movie? I mean, at this point it's three weeks after the outbreak so they could have already met each other and the girls and gone out west.

Sounds good to me.

Character you would like to play: Ashley J. Williams

Original Character or Established? (If established, please state what medium your character first appeared in): Established in the Evil Dead movies. First appeared in The Evil Dead.

Basic history of the character up until this point: An ex-university student now working in S-Mart's Housewares department, Ash has just asked the girl of his dreams, another S-Mart employee named Linda, out on a date. Ash was actually just kicked out of MIT's Mechanical Engineering program for his rude behavior towards anyone who tried to tell him to do something he didn't want to do. The ladies, however, seem mysteriously attracted to that very same behavior of his.

Character's Skills: Ash has an almost intuitive and genius aptitude for anything mechanical. Hell, he could probably make cutting edge prosthetic limbs out of chainsaws or scrap metal, if only those jerks at MIT weren't such close-minded and primitive screwheads. The only thing he's actually competent at is fighting the undead. He seems to completely screw up just about everything else.

Character's Items: A shiny red chainsaw and a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington shotgun, both of which can be found in your local reliable S-Mart. Shop smart, shop S-Mart.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Aside from all the fun to be had in a zombie apocalypse with a character like Ash, I want to try combining all of the different attributes he's had from each movie into one guy. The films were pretty inconsistent with their portrayal of Ash from one movie to the next, so I feel like this could be a neat experiment. Use the college student he was in the first film, combine it with how mechanically inventive he was in the later movies (although toned down in this more realistic world (concept of "realistic" within the context of zombies aside)), and use his job at S-Mart as his starting point instead of a cabin in the woods away from all the RPG's action that's taking place in heavily populated and zombified areas. I also hope to eventually have Ash slapped by every female character in the game, NPC or not.

Bruce Campbell.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG: I can bring seven years of Hype-RPing experience to the table, and a strong desire to do Mr. Campbell justice. Also, a love for zombie movies.

Just friggin' great!

Another hobo stumbling into the damn store and trying to bite customers. Jeez, that's the fourth time today! Is this some new version of Bum Fights that I've never heard of? Is some asshat giving these bums money and telling them to come in here and start s**t up, while they're sitting outside and laughing their ass off as I try to keep people from freaking out?

Maybe it's something in the water.

This a**hole has fallen down twice already as customers dodge around and evade him. Christ, he stinks too. I think he s**t himself, and I can smell it from here. I know that I'm sure as hell not gonna be cleaning up his droppings.

"Sam, cleanup on aisle 4," I say into the intercom as the hobo starts to get back to his feet. With a heavy sigh, I look to where I last saw that Sam kid, over at the front of the store. Aw, crap! Has he been drinking on the job? Maybe Sam had of few slurps of the same stuff that Mr. S**ts-a-lot over in aisle 4 was drinking. He sure is stumbling around the same way as the hobo, if that's any indication. "Sam, get yer lazy butt over here, pal. S**t rolls downhill and it's your turn to clean it up."

"Guuuhhh..."

He has been drinking!

"Goddammit," I growl. Looks like I'll have to take care of the bum myself. Walking over and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, I start guiding the hobo towards the exit. Man, he's a real uggo. His skin's practically falling off. "All right, Stinky, take a hike."

Then the guy who can't control his own bowels spins out of my grip and lunges at me, as if I'm the one with the problem.

Oh, thanks. Just leave a not so dead Bill Murray behind. :cmad: :(

They can still be out west and not met Bill yet. Maybe change the order of events so that they go to his house after the end of the movie.

And Spike is approved

Sounds good to me.

Maybe not shoot me in the chest this time?

Yeah, tomorrow it is. I've got got the app almost ready, just need to do the sample and get his gear squared away and I'll be good. But I've got to be up extra early for a 12 hour day tomorrow...so I have to go crash. I'll get the app in sometime tomorrow night when I get home

Custom character or preexisting?:awesome:

Also...I'm so excited for this game to start. Mostly because I can't wait for the inevitable Columbus, Shaun, Ed, Bill Murray, and Ash banter as Tallahassee, Rick, John and Chris blow apart some undead.:awesome:

Shoot 'Em In The Head Character Application

Character you would like to play: Jack Knight

Original Character or Established? (If established, please state what medium your character first appeared in): Original character

Basic history of the character up until this point: Drunken college student Jack Knight woke up midway into a zombie apocalypse after an epic two-week bender. In a bath. In an apartment full of dead party zombies. After fighting his way out, Jack searched the university accomodation for any survivors. Upon being unable to find any, he broke into a neighbours garage and stole his pickup truck. And started heading god knows where.

Character's Skills: None

Character's Items: Pickup truck

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I felt like taking a potentially more serious character than Shaun.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG : A second character. Pineapples.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in:
The truck sped down the motorway, as Jack leant back and let the wind blow through the window into his hair. He was lucky in that he'd finally found a patch of road that wasn't full of broken down cars with walking dead strapped into the seat. He still enjoyed crushing the occasional creature under the wheels of his car.

He watched the petrol gauge slowly dipping and pulled into the service station when he came upon it. He parked up, filled up on gas, and crept out of the pumps, gripping his baseball bat. He headed into the little shop, hoping to grab some food and supplies for his car. There was a moan, which caused a shudder to run through his body. He swept the baseball bat around, crunching the soft skull in and damaging the brain. He shuddered and tried not to vomit.

"This is really getting old,"
