Also, Magneto had the most powerful mutant ever by his side. Why not put Phoenix flying everyone into the island? Or even acting Moses and opening the SF bay? that would have a great biblical effect to show how powerful she was. I understand Mags had to have his moment to shine, so i kinda understand the scene though. But marketing it as the best thing that ever happened, this was wrong imho.

THat would have been brilliant!!!

Someone suggested that Magneto moved the bridge for psychological purposes to scare the crap out of everyone at Worthington Labs. But you could do something similar had Jean split the ocean Moses-style. To see an army of mutants marching across the babe through the center with waters held back would have been another "holy crap!" moment too. They'd really realize they were up against Gods.

Oh and you want Magneto to shine? No problem! So those little homo sapiens send jet aircraft and helicopters after the Brotherhood army. Fire guns, missiles, rockets, drop bombs, etc. But none of it works. Because while Jean is holding back the water, Magneto is stopping all the weapons, causing helicopters to crash into each other, etc... Now that's power...

Come to think of it, you just gave me a nead idea for a rewrite! Save the bridge as a last ditch effort, have Magneto pick it up later and try to drop it on Alcatraz and the last moment to kill everyone instead. That's the point when he gets depowered and that's when Jean goes berzerk. Eureka, that's it!

i planned, for my comic, have Mags believe Jean to the point of splitting teams. he goes first, pulls the bridge, starts losing because of the cure darts, and then its time for Jean go with the second army, but the bridge is destroyed by the government to try to stop the mutants. Jean then opens the bay and pass with the second army :) Im still planning what happens later. I want Jean to go really crazy and cause damage to the entire city, not only the island...

I can't believe you, ntcrawler. So you think that moving the GG bridge is a flaw, unrealistic because is a suspension bridge, but you think it's perfectly possible to walk on a river just moving aside the water :p

if you believe the bible, yeah, its possible. :p Moses was a mutant, like Jesus and Einstein :p

Well, Jesus died in a spectacular way, and then they brought him back with some weird explanation, so he must be a comic character. Perhaps the Bible is just a Marvel comic :p

Do not underestimate the power of the Phoenix, or of Jean Grey :) She did it in X2, so it would be within her abilities to do it in X3. Just hope she doesn't get distracted like she did while kissing Scott...

Besides, the suspension bridge is too short anyways. Alcatraz is 1.2 miles from shore, The suspension bridge is 1.1 miles from land to land, and the section Magneto ripped off, from tower to tower is about 0.8 miles. So maybe it's nitpicking, but the look on Magneto's face when he drops the bridge in place and realizes it's not long enough to stretch across and then is collapsing would have been a classic Kodak moment :D

Actually this is a point that's addressed in the alternate X3 novel "Grail". Jean's upset, trying to come to grips with what she is. Basically, Warren points out to her that tha last person who managed to die and come back from the dead was Jesus, the son of God. So what does that make her? Hank offered one of the better explanations. "What are you? You are Jean Grey"

:)

In the version I'm working on, once Jean goes crazy, that's when Storm snaps as well and they both engage in one hell of a duel at Alcatraz.

That I like... as long as Storm doesn't end up dead!

I've been doing alot of reading up on Storm and her abilities and what I've learned so far gives me new appreciation for just how powerful, and dangerous she can be.

Storm most likely won't end up dead. But she definitely will be dishing out plenty! This duel is going to be at best a draw, the kind of battle where unless some force splits up the two warring goddesses, it could go on forever.

thats great...also Storm vs Phoenix in mine, but Storm will be defeated pretty quickly...
i love her, but making the battle long would kinda water down the power of Jean...of course, there will be an emotional involvment, otherwise Storm would die.
