Should the Silver Surfer have had the "Kirby Crackle"?

I saw the movie last night.

Does anyone have any questions about Doom?

-TNC

yes, Is he king of Latveria or still a business man.
Does he have the same eletrical powers?
we know what he looks like, but does he still act the same way?
Does he wake up in Latveria or somewhere in Asia?
we know we see his face ,...
oh heck can you just tell us about him in the movie?

yes, Is he king of Latveria or still a business man.

It's actually unclear.

Does he have the same eletrical powers?

Yes, he does.

we know what he looks like, but does he still act the same way?

Exactly the same.

Does he wake up in Latveria or somewhere in Asia?

He's at Latveria

we know we see his face ,...

oh heck can you just tell us about him in the movie?

I'll try to go through it all:

HUGE SPOILERS

I MEAN, MOVIE RUINING EXPERIENCE COMING YOUR WAY

TURN BACK NOW!

DOOM SPOILERS!

I'll skim through:
-The Surfer is flying around the planet, creating craters, random screwing up with elements and molecules and stuff. He flies over Latveria and Doom wakes up.
-Doom's mask is...chisled off and he's freakishly disfigured.
-He tracks down the Surfer and tries to be partners with him. Surfer denies, Doom gets angry and Surfer blasts him and somehow Doom "recovers" back to his original form.
-After the FF fail to stop the Surfer's attack in London, the Army calls in Doom as Doom supplies them with his information on his encounter with the Surfer. The FF are pissed and they have to work with him.
-Doom knows how to defeat the Surfer and Reed creates a machine to separate the Surfer from his board.
-Doom has created a device, allowing him to control and use the board to wield its power. This is his ultimate plan.
-After the Surfer gets captured, Doom ambushes the military, "suits up" and steals the board and gains the Surfer's powers.
-Climatic fight, blah blah, Doom is defeated and is seen plummeting to the ocean floor and we never see him again. So, he's likely to come back somehow.
;)

Thanks much TNC.
knowing the story in advance never ruins it for me.

I stand by that statement. if you were a proffesor who assigned a student to represent Michael Jordan in a play, and the student hired a white actor, who is 7' tall, plays Baseball, out of NY city, but played college ball in North Carolina, would you give him any credit for having done research on Michael Jordan?
There are many ways to come by information other than doing "research". the key word is "research".
and if I was speaking in absolute terms as you claim I would have said (Story obviously did NO research for Dr. Doom).
Instead I said "there is no evidence that he did any research". Getting an obscure fact correct is not evidence of "research" (especially in light of missing so many obvious and well known facts.
:p

How they chose to portray the character does not prove that they did not do any research. It's why they chose not to use the fruits of the research that is more open to question. Avi Arad pretty much touched on this in the extended version. He said, to paraphrase, that ever since the Dr Evil character it was difficult to portray a character with an agenda of world domination. He may have a point but it's debatable.
