Should they make another Punisher movie?

Y'know I'm not really a fan of SHSS, but when The Punisher appears, it's just awesome. :woot:

I think it'd be cool if The Punisher could make his way in other Marvel movies, but too bad he can't... :csad: I still think they should make a solo animated movie for The Punisher. Heck, even a Punisher Vs in the vein of Hulk Vs would be awesome.

They seem to be getting a little more serious about their animated projects, so hopefully the Punisher will be popping something soon.

Warzone is the reason why I hate reboots. Thomas Jane and his film were downright amazing. I loved both Year One and Welcome Back Frank, the two graphic novels it was based off of, And to top it off, it even included a scene from my first ever Punisher comic (From War Zone #1 in which he dangles Mickey [I forgot his name in the original comic] upside down and interrogates him with the pop sickle stick)

The only things it did to make the Punisher less accurate were to give a story as to WHY the Punisher's family was killed which was a bit better IMO, increased the deaths of his family from only 3 people to his entire family, and made him an FBI agent instead of a marine, and making him be in Florida wasnt bad at all. I could tell that the potential sequel would have him be in NYC as well.

I really hope Thomas Jane (Probably my favorite actor ever) goes through with that plan of his to direct and star in a Punisher sequel. The Battle Van idea he had was amazing btw.

That being said, I only want a new Punisher film if it is a sequel of the 2004 one with Thomas Jane as the lead.

The character's name was Mickey Fondozzi, which the Mickey Duka character was heavily based on.

Ah yes that was it. Sorry I need to re read Punisher War Zone #1. It was my first ever Punisher comic after all.

I also forgot to mention in my previous post, the score to Punisher 2004 was absolutely fantastic. It perfectly captured the essence of the Punisher whereas it was completely forgettable in Punisher War Zone... though to be fair everything in it was lol

Its opinion more then anything but I just found The Punisher to be infinitely better and greatly deserved a sequel. I think that we should forget that Warzone existed lol

I don't think they should make another Punisher film, becaused they tried 3 times already and failed. What they need to do is have Punisher be a supporting ast character in a superhero team up movie.

This was just posted on the G4 blog live @ SDCC

Frank Castle is under the roof of Marvel studios now and they hope to bring him "into the fray" shortly.

Some of the best news from the Panel.I hope they hired Thomas Jane though as he has such a passion for the character.

Me and my friend were just talking about that. If they get Thomas Jane back, that'd just be amazing.

Could he possibly make a cameo in Avengers?

I assume is safe to say that Punisher is in good hands. Yeah, would be great if they brought back Thomas Jane.

I would say make him a supporting character in a Marvel film to generate interest then put him in a film.

It's just awesome that he's back at Marvel. I wasn't expecting to hear anything Punisher related at CC this year.

Great surprise :D

Way to go, Marvel. Can't wait to see what they try with the Punisher.

does anybody think they need to go a different direction wit Punisher i honestly dont see the public movie goers being interesting in him again.Punisher films have not done well the public only sees him as a guy who wants revenge nothing more nothing less.

getting revenge for family gets old real fast

Bring back Dolph!!! He was the best out of the 3, and is still in great shape.

Agreed. They should go for a new story. Taken would've made a great film if replaced with Punisher, so its possible to me. Revenge is an overplayed storyline anyway.

Best news ever. I hope they bring back Jane, but I don't think he'd do it if the character is part of the larger Marvel movie Universe. He's not a superhero guy, and as cool as it would be to see a Punisher/Spider-Man or Punisher/Daredevil team-up, I'd prefer to see The Punisher treated like he is in the MAX universe: He has his own isolated portion of the MU.

Now, yea, the revenge plot is overplayed, but that's the hurdle you need to jump with The Punisher. Once you get past that origin film, the possibilities are endless. As much as it pains me to say it, War Zone was kind of a step in the right direction in that it's not a revenge film, but everything about that film was flat out awful. They could pull a Superman Returns, ignore War Zone and do a direct sequel to the 2004 film. If they reboot it, I doubt Jane will be asked back.

just a side-note: if Jane comes back, get Walter Hill to direct. The fanboy in me would go craaaazy.

I think Punisher is a prime candidate for a live-action Marvel show

a lot of us have been saying this, put it on FX or somewhere where violance is lenient and make it a gritty/violent crime drama.

Feige then added a note that made many fans raise an eyebrow, telling a fan who asked about R-rated Marvel movies that "Frank Castle is under the roof of Marvel Studios now and we hope to bring him into the fray shortly."

Pretty cool way to announce it. :p

and I agree with the people above... Thomas Jane.
