Siege Ends The Avengers

'Course, Steve could be in Bucky's costume, which wouldn't bother me much. I kind of like Bucky's costume. It would also make sense in story, if they want to emphasize the whole "Cap as a symbol" thing by having both active Caps wear the same costume.

I doubt it. If you look at the pages of New Avengers, Bucky's eyes are blue in there. The blue eyes being an error seems more likely, since it's already happening now.

As for two Caps, I wouldn't mind it, but prefer them to be in different costumes. Like I said earlier, if Avengers has one Cap and Captain America has the other, it could work out very nicely.

I don't like Bucky's Cap costume, I don't want them to become some kind of homogenized "Captain America Corps," I don't want to see the classic costume go away, and if it did, I wouldn't want to see Steve, the original Captain America, adopt someone else's Cap costume.

From Bendis' Twitter page:

for the record. me and jr jr are the team for AVENGERS not new avengers. more announcements and line up teases coming very very soon

Could there be more than one Avengers title?

It sounds more like he's trying to assure people that he's not just going to do more of the same with Avengers. Which is good 'cause I personally still don't even consider the New Avengers a real Avengers team.

I'd say it's because people might confuse of this being the new Avengers... and then theres the team called New Avengers. >_<

JRJR is a great choice to launch the back-to-basics Avengers book because he's been with Marvel for his entire career (1970's to present). I could be wrong but I've never heard of him doing work for DC.

Now who should this "new" Avenger team fight for their first arc? There have always been a lot of complaints about nothing but ninjas and D-list villains in New Avengers.

My vote goes to Baron Zemo coming back from limbo and reforming the Masters of Evil.

I love JrJr's work on Spider-Man, but it always feels awkward when he draws other heroes. Glad Bucky's sticking around as Cap and seems to be forging his own legacy. Good stuff.

First order of business. Take down the T-Bolts.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

So Bucky is still Cap. goddammit. :cmad::facepalm::doh::wall::argh:
Bucky is GREAT as Cap. Steve has had his time. He doesn't exactly represent the values of America anymore IMO. It's time for him to grow into a new role in the MU. Maybe a high ranking SHIELD leader or even the leader of a revamped S.H.I.E.L.D.

Really, have you read Captain America this past year? Bucky has become one of the most complex well-written characters in the last twenty years. Yeh, Steve will always be Cap, but Bucky's story is just beginning and rife with possibilites for new villains, stories, and definitions for what it means to be an American hero. Give Bucky a chance if you havent, becasue he is an example of a character fans wanted to hate, but came to love.

Why does he have a gun then?

I agree. Plus, this seems like this is where Steve is heading too. Comic Obama apparently told Steve he has plans for him, aka Steve Rogers agent of SHIELD. :woot:

I'd be disappointed to see them regress Baron Zemo to a cookie-cutter villain. Dude's become a compelling enough character to have his own series if anyone other than me would actually read it. :o

I'd like Ultron, even though he's already in 'Mighty Avengers'.

I have to say, John Romita Jr. comes VERY close to having that Alex Ross design for New Cap actually look good. I mean, nothing against Steve Epting or Guice or even Bryan Hitch. The flaw was always the core design. But he almost makes it work.

I won't read Bendis' book just for the art, though. I mean if that didn't matter, I wouldn't have left KICK-ASS, which Romita Jr. was also drawing.

Just as long as we never see The Hood in another Avengers comic I'll be ****ing happy. :D

So Bucky and Spider-Man are confirmed Avengers. I would have rather had Steve, but Bucky will do if Captain America is going to focus more on Bucky still.

Thor and Stark are confirmed too, since we've already heard that the big three will be reunited (even if Bucky is taking Steve's place)

I love the concept of Spidey as an Avenger. I love that he has teammates to quip with, but I hate how Bendis writes his teammates of being so off-put by his humor as his rogues gallery are intended to be.

I actually think I kinda like that the rest of the Avengers hate the quip side of Spidey. It makes sense that heroes who are more stereotypically strict would have that reaction to a guy who quips as much as Spidey.

I think a guy like Hawkeye would appreciate his humor. Well, a Hawkeye not written by Bendis. Thor too. Definitely Herc if he's in there.
