Silver Surfer casting thread.......

I actually like the Jim Caviezel suggestion as well as Billy Zane.

Jim Caviezel was exactly who I had in mind. He's got a soft voice yet magnetic voice, he isn't bald( hows that darth) and he could easily pull off a deeply scarred character like that.

Vin Diesel would be ok i suppose. He is bald, yes, however he is bald, so why not make the best of it. He is a compitent actor, though he's been led into many a type cast action hero. He's a very intelligent guy, an English major, and I think he could handle a character with more depth totally.

Keanu reeves has the look for sure. My only problem is he couldn't pull off the demensions of the Surfer. Not physical, of course, i'm talking about his many layers of emotions. Reeves is just a bit shallow as far as that's concerned.

Not much into the whole Billy Zane idea. He might look it, but i don't sense 'alien' in him. His voice isn't mysterious enough, too base, not that sort of mysterious quality i think the Surfer needs.

Whoever they cast, hell becovered in reflective matal and it wont matter to much what they look like. I pesonaly think they should do a CGI Silver Surfer movie, it would look great. Have the same people who did like final fantasy work on it, it could be uber cool.

figured he'd be all CGI anyway's. I love his voice on the animated FF dvd.

I am gettin sick of just hearing actors being picked for Silver Surfer cause they are bald...lol.

I would go with an CGI but I have the same deal that they did with Gollum and King Kong. And I always pictured Silver Surfer with a refined voice...like he sounds intelligent. Maybe David Hyde Pierce who did the voice of Abe Sapien would be good.

i'm trying to figure out why this thread wasn't started on the misc. marvel movie forum and talked about there....

I didn't say that just because he was bald. I also say that because I could see him playing the character, being somewhat detached and phillisophical.

Probably he wouldn't do it, because the Surfer would no doubt have to be 100% CGI.

I've always imagined the Surfer as very high-brow...and Vin Diesel's voice does not reflect that in the least. He also looks slightly doofy.

Ehh I seriously doubt you would still be saying Vin Diesel if this was his normal look.

Then you must agree with my choice of David Hyde Pierce. At least to play the voice of Silver Surfer.

Pierce would be a good choice for the voice. But at the same time, a less American sounding voice might be better. It would add to the alien-ness of the character.

Just add an echo-like effect to his voice and think you got a winner.

I also think Vin would be great because athletically the surfer has to look like he's surfing.

In any case, as I mentioned, the Surfer is going to have to be a digital creation, ala T2, when the T-1000 is in his liquid metal form.

I doubt the surfer will be complete cgi. I think it will be layered over the actor like the Torch, so the physique of the actor is important.

Didn't Arad throw Diesel's name out a while ago? Personally, I think he has the look and the body, but not the acting skills to portray the inner conflict and thoughts of the surfer. Diesel does not strike me as philosophical.

Pondering this question for a while I had to think both Hyde Pierce and james earl jones for their voices for different reasons, I then thought Sean Hayes from Will and grace for voice (very talented actor).

Then I was trying to think body quite slender and tall but muscular.

So i came to the conclusion if Cary Elwes could buff up a little he could do it all, great voice(weird also, quite alien) and he would have the right kind of stature
