Sometimes, althought I haven't really seen it yet in this thread, people have been annoyed at the repeated scenes in spidey1 and 2. Of course, this has been discussed at length in really old forums, but I'll get my input out there again because I think it is important.
The "repeat" scenes in Spidey 1 and 2 like the backyard scene with MJ and the burning building scene were to show the growth of these characters, IMO. In the first movie, the backyard scene is all about Pete and MJ talking about what they think their lives will be like in the near future. By spidey2, we actually get to see their lives at this time, and Peter's prediction about MJ becoming famous is beginning to become true, but Peter is just struggling.
For the burning building scene, in the first movie Spidey easily swings in and saves a baby from a burning building like the typical hero he was. In movie 2, he didn't even have his powers, but was able to pull of the same feat. Hero? Not entirely, because someone according to the firefighters got trapped and burned alive that he didn't find on one of the higher floors. Peter wonders if he is even supposed to try anything heroic again at this point, or maybe if he was Spider-man that he may have been able to save everyone.
I think these two scenes worked well to show these characters' progressions in life for fans that followed the movies closely and recognize similar scenes. Maybe, especially the backyard scene, would have been really neat to see in movie 1 and 3 but not in 2. That would be nostalgic! But I don't think these scenes need to be "repeated" again (and the backyard can't because Aunt May got evicted!). I think the Uncle Ben scene would work well again because it would remind Peter and the audience why Spider-man became Spider-man, and it was only described and scene as a painting in the second movie, which kind of gave Uncle Ben's death a mythic quality because we didn't see video of it, but it kept on coming up in people's dialouge.
On a similar note, the "repeat" dream/spiritual sequence in Spidey2 with Peter and Uncle Ben in the car worked well because it showed how Peter was doing exactly what Uncle Ben warned in that speech in Spidey 1 - not living up to his responsibility.
