One day, I have to get these Iron Fist issues. I have all of the Power Man/Iron Fist and Luke Cage issues, and so far only have issues 2 and 3 of Iron Fist.

That was the second Avengers comic I ever bought. That cover had me, and after reading it, I thought Taskmaster was the greatest Supervillian I ever read.

Here is the very first Avengers comic I ever owned:

Must-Have of the day! This classic issue was the beginning of a Silver Surfer relaunch that would culminate after issue #50 with the Infinity Gauntlet. Just like today with Annihilation, Silver Surfer brought Marvel back to it's galactic adventures.

nice one.... loved the whole Ron Lim era

^ Johnny and Sue Storm in their Worst-Hair-Ever phase (and more Byrne, by the way. A fair amount popping up in this thread...)

That was a very good issue, though, bad hair and all.

It really is amazing how far Byrne has fallen.

Must-Have of the Day, featuring the first time I realized the genius of Dan Slott. While I enjoyed Spider-Man/Human Torch, this mini really blew me away, especially since I had never been a fan of the Great Lakes Avengers before:

I loved the whole idea behind GLA way back when Byrne (again?!?!?!) introduced them. It was such a lame idea, you had to love it. But Slott took it to a whole new level.

The last issue of Bendis' run was my all time favorite single issue.

Also, Hulk: The End (I think it's called) was kick-ass as well.

Oh, and Punisher: The Cell was AWESOME. That's the best Punisher one-shot EVER.

Must-Have of the Day, featuring the first appearance of Cloak and Dagger:

I hate reading old comics. Not that some of them aren't great, especially depending on who wrote them, but I just think that comics are at their very best right now.

Ya know, the guy who made this damn thread hasn't given a single issue as a Must Have. Why make a thread and not contribute a dang thing to it?

I agree. I will sometimes try and read comics I loved back in the day; but, they just don't hold up. Still, I love to own these classic issues.

I have a friend like that and it drives me crazy. I've given him things like the Dark Phoenix saga or FF: the Coming of Galactus and he won't even attempt to read them because he says the art work isn't as good as todays stuff:o

Hate is a strong word.I got into comics monthly because of current books like DD,Cap and Ultimates 1 and 2.

I have trouble reading anything "old" but I don't mind browsing through them just for kicks.

It's the reverse for me,the art from back then still holds up,even surpasses some of what's being churned out today.

It's the dialog that I just can't stomach and justify paying $20+ for.(the collections I mean)

Totally agree about the art. The Dark Phoenix saga for example, as I mentioned, has some absolutely stunning artwork.

The writing, from what little i've read, is hit and miss for me. It took me a while to get into Stan Lee/Jack Kirby's FF, though once the Inhumans were introduced I was hooked. Yet Stan Lee's writing on the Silver Surfer was unbearable.

Yeah, true that. I read through some of the original Defenders issues and even though they really weren't quite as good as some of the new stuff, there were some really awesome/fun moments for sure.

Must-Have of the Day, featuring a humongous event from the 90's. We had single-character team-ups between Marvel and DC in the 70's and 80's, the best probably being Teen Titans/Uncanny X-Men; but, this was the biggest of all. Plus, the fans got to vote on some of the outcomes.

Hah!I still remember buying this and #2 at a book store here at the local mall, back when you could find comics at the mall.

This was like the most awesome thing ever to me back then.I remember being so blown away by Castellini's art then, but now,not so much.
