Singular Universe: Brave New World Character Application:

Character Name:
Supergirll / Kara Zor-El / Linda Kent

Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line): Hero

Character Speech Color and Font (actually say what it is, like Blue Comic Sans):
Royal Blue Verdana bold

Powers and Abilities:
Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound… Honestly, if you don’t know the power set of the El family by now… Look at Andy’s Superman app :P

Character Origin/Major Events:

  • 39 years before Year One - Kara Zor-El is born to artist Zor-El and scientist Alura In-Zee

  • 25 years before Year One - Krypton explodes, a prototype Star-Drive created in tandem by Jor-El and Alura is launched to save both Kara Zor-El and Kal-El. There are two compartments to the drive, a living quarters for the older Kara, and a protective pod for her infant cousin. As the ship makes use of the Phantom Zone to traverse the vast distance between stars, an uncharted asteroid collides with the ship, separating the two compartments and triggering a stasis failsafe in Kara’s pod, while Kal’s continues undaunted.

  • Year One - Superman becomes public.

  • Year Two - A rift in the Phantom Zone allows Kara’s pod to finally break free. The pod is found by Generals Sam Lane and Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. They take their prize to a secluded Nevada compound, keeping her at bay with Kryptonite and hidden within the lead mines that run underneath the Nevada/California border.

  • Lane and Ross continue to do experiments on their Kryptonian prisoner. Lead scientist Bruce Banner is told that the DNA and tissue that he is experimenting on is from Superman. When he makes the connection that the DNA belongs to a teenaged girl, Banner decides to help her escape. Unbeknownst to Banner, the Generals had installed a failsafe to prevent such an occurrence and get rid of the evidence of their war crime, a Gamma-Kryptonite Bomb. As the bomb explodes, Kara shields Banner which changes the way the radiation affects him, as he turns into a mindless rampaging green giant. The Hulk breaks out of the compound, leaving a path for Kara to follow when she wakes up from the explosion. Days later, the Hulk resurfaces in Gotham City after Banner attempts to go to Wayne Tech to see if they can figure out what’s going on with him.

  • Year Three - Found by Superman after the Hulk rampage, Kara is taken in by friends of Superman and STAR Labs scientists Fred and Marie Danvers in Midvale, Ohio; a suburb of Cleveland. Kara is placed in junior year of high school, one year behind Fred and Marie's other daughter: Carol. To stave confusion, Kara is given the secret identity of Linda Danvers.

  • Generals Lane and Ross use their knowledge of Kryptonian physiology and Kryptonite to create a new special ops soldier: Benjamin Krull codename: Reactron.

What? She doesn't speak or think in English yet.

Rao wakes me up like it does most days. Wait? Rao? That’s not Rao. It’s yellow. Not red. Suddenly, the memories come flooding back. I’m not on Krypton. Krypton’s dead. My family’s dead. My world is gone. Where am I? The last thing I remember is an asteroid hitting the Star-Drive and alarms going off. I look at the screen, and see that the stasis failsafes had been triggered and that the Star-Drive had separated. Oh no. Where’s my cousin? It was my job to protect him. I lost the only piece of my world that I had left. My panic is interrupted by alarms as the ship informs me of a new hull breach. Going to the source of the alarm I see four men in weird green and black speckled clothing. Two men are speaking very loudly in a language I don’t understand.

“Who are you? Where am I? Have you seen my baby cousin?”

They shout more things at me. One of the two quieter ones opens a box, and a green glow emanates from it. I feel nauseous and vomit all over the floor of the Star-Drive. The man with the box comes closer and the feeling gets worse, and eventually overwhelmed by a headache, I close my eyes.

I wake up in a barren room, strapped to a cold metal table. I still feel sick, and look down to see the same green glow binding my hands and feet to the table. After what seems like days, a skinny man enters the room. He speaks to me in that weird language, as he undoes my binds. At the moment that he gets the first shackle removed an alarm sounds, and gets louder as he undoes all the binds. I can see a look of fear on his face as a computer voice speaks. He grabs me by the arm and pulls me off the table, and motions for me to follow. My senses seem sharper now that I’m free of the table, and I hear what sounds like a loud explosion and something triggers in my vision where I see said explosion through the wall.

“Get down you fool!”
I shout at my rescuer, and realizing he can’t understand me, I tackle him as the wave of fire and radiation washes over us and I pass out from the pain.

Singular Universe: Brave New World Character Application:

Character Name: Peter Benjamin Parker, The Amazing Spider-Man

Alignment: Hero

Character Speech Color and Font: Blue Tahoma for Peter, Bold Blue Tahoma for Spidey

Powers and Abilities: Prior to the spider bite from which he drew his powers, Peter was just an ordinary -- if scientifically gifted -- teenager. After the spider bite, he gained the proportional strength of a spider, superhuman durability, and slightly accelerated healing. His reflexes, flexibility, and balance increased tenfold. He gained the ability to adhere to almost any surface, and he developed a sixth sense bordering on precognition which alerts him to imminent danger. Since no spider is complete without its web, Peter developed pressurized gauntlets to wear around his wrists which emit an adhesive polymer with the tensile strength of steel when hardened.

Character Origin/Major Events: Peter Benjamin Parker was born to Richard and Mary Parker, a middle class family living in Queens, New York. Richard worked as an administrator at a local hospital; Mary was an elementary school teacher. Peter, unfortunately, never really got to know his parents. When he was still very little, Peter's parents were killed in a car accident as they drove home from a night in the city. The orphaned Peter fell under the care of Richard's older brother, Ben, and his wife, May.

Ben and May raised their nephew as though he was their own child. Although they didn't have much in the way of money, they made every sacrifice possible to give Peter the bright future he clearly deserved. They encouraged Peter's love affair with science at every turn, even going so far as to let the boy turn the backyard shed into his own personal laboratory slash workshop. In turn, Peter loved his aunt and uncle as though they were his own parents.

At school, Peter struggled to fit in. His inability to relate to his peers and his general clumsiness made him an easy target for bullies like Eugene "Flash" Thompson. The more Peter became a social outcast, the more he escaped into his studies, beginning a vicious cycle of bullying and abuse. While his classmates chose to go to the mall or attend sporting events, Peter chose to spend his time at science exhibits -- which is how he found himself at STAR Labs on that one fateful day.

An escaped, genetically altered spider dropped down on Peter's hand and bit him. Peter spent the next three days of his life bedridden, nursing a fever and suffering through the worst flu-like symptoms of his life. But when the sickness passed, Peter emerged as a changed person. Somehow, the bite had transformed Peter on a genetic level, granting him the incredible abilities of a spider. He was strong, lean, and fast. He could perform incredible feats like crawling on walls. The discoveries brought Peter equal parts joy and terror. He feared the repercussions of revealing his condition and so kept his transformation secret from everyone, even Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

In no time, Peter found himself twisting his new abilities to his own benefit. He stood up to Flash Thompson, humiliating the bully in a lopsided fistfight in the cafeteria one day at school. Not long after, Peter answered the call for new fighters in an underground wrestling league. It gave him an outlet for all his pent-up aggression and let him earn a little money on the side to boot. Peter adopted the identity of the masked fighter "Spider-Man" and quickly rose to the top of the ranks. However, when someone robbed the wrestling promoter, Peter found himself under suspicion, as he was the only wrestler to keep his identity anonymous. Under accusations of theft and the demand to unmask, Peter angrily quit and stormed out.

Heading home in a sour mood, Peter paid no mind to the cries for help coming from down the street. A robber raced past, briefly making eye contact with Peter before continuing to run from the store owner giving chase. The man berated Peter and asked why he made no attempt to stop the robber, but Peter brushed him off and continued home. Later that night, May received a phone call telling her that Ben had been shot and killed in a carjacking attempt. Heartbroken and furious, Peter donned his wrestling suit and took off in pursuit of his uncle's killer.

The Spider-Man tracked the carjacker to an abandoned warehouse by the docks. There, the police were in the midst of a standoff. Spider-Man slipped past the barricade undetected and entered the building in search of Ben's killer. When at last Peter confronted the man, he recognized him as the same robber from earlier that night. Stunned, Peter lost his grip on the robber, who promptly fell to his death while making a desperate attempt at escape.

Wracked with guilt, Peter slowly faded into the gathering darkness, aware at last that in this world, with great power there must also come great responsibility.

Year One

  • News travels quickly about the red-and-blue character swinging through the skies above Manhattan. For the most part, though, the Spider-Man's impact on the city's crime rate is inconsequential. Business continues as usual, with the occasional robber/carjacker/mugger getting apprehended by the wallcrawler.
  • A mysterious new figure calling himself "The Big Man" arrives in New York with a trio of colorful goons called the Enforcers. His presence upsets the established order in the New York organized crime families, and the Big Man develops a heated rivalry with Silvio Manfredi -- better known as the crime boss Silvermane.
  • The Big Man and Silvermane go to war, drawing the attention of Spider-Man. Realizing that he cannot fight a war on two fronts, the Big Man sends his enforcers -- along with other colorful characters like the Shocker and Captain Boomerang -- to deal with Spider-Man. Silvermane, in turn, recruits disgraced roboticist Spencer Smythe to create the Spider-Slayers. Though Spider-Man struggles with these new, escalated threats, he eventually overcomes them -- much to the ire of both crimelords.
  • Fredrick Foswell, the Daily Bugle's top crime reporter, is outed as the Big Man. Spider-Man assists in his apprehension, though Foswell never sees the inside of a jail cell. A dirty cop in Silvermane's employ puts a bullet between Foswell's eyes, and the gang war comes to a solemn close... for a time.
  • Suffering a terrible accident at his personal laboratory, Otto Octavius' revolutionary four-armed mechanical harness is fused to his body. Suffering from paranoid delusions, Octavius comes to believe that his work was sabotaged by his rivals, men who were bitterly jealous of Otto's genius. The newly-christened "Dr. Octopus" goes on a rampage but is eventually stopped by Spider-Man. He stews over his defeat at the hands of such a primitive creature.
  • With the Big Man seemingly out of the picture, Silvermane turns his attention to Spider-Man. Smythe doubles his efforts, transforming a washed-up P.I. named Mac Gargan into a cybernetic Spider-Slayer called the Scorpion. Gargan is driven insane in the process, and he is unable to bring down Spider-Man.
  • Spider-Man makes a play to bust Silvermane once and for all, but the confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of the Big Man. Revealing Foswell to be innocent all along, the Big Man takes off his mask and shows his identity as Joey Manfredi, Silvermane's own son. Tired of his father being set in his ways, Joey made a play for himself. Enraged, Silvermane reveals the extensive cybernetic enhancements he received from Smythe. While holding off Spider-Man's attacks, Silvermane uses his new robotic body to choke the life out of his son. He then surrenders himself to Spider-Man.
Year Two

  • In the wake of the Big Man's death and Silvermane's incarceration, a power vacuum forms in the underground of Manhattan. A new, ruthless figure known as the Kingpin arrives to fill it, doubling the efforts of his predecessors and making life hell for Spider-Man.
  • At the same time, an experiment at Horizon Labs designed to amplify primate intelligence goes awry. The escaped gorilla test subject, Grodd, develops telepathic powers and a hatred for humanity. Though Spider-Man very nearly succumbs to Grodd's mental attacks, he is eventually able to subdue the beast.
  • The Enforcers resurface, claiming to work for a new boss called the Green Goblin. Together with an army of masked goons, they raise Hell over Manhattan. The Goblin himself executes Lucky Lobo, the head of one of New York's crime families, and absorbs his empire. He makes his intentions clear: the deposition of the Kingpin and the installment of himself as the new top crime boss in New York.
  • An escaped convict named Flint Marko seeks refuge inside STAR Labs. There, he accidentally locks himself inside a test chamber for a new carbon silicate sub-dermal armor. Marko's body is transformed into a sentient pile of sand, and he takes the name Sandman. Embarked on a crime spree, the Sandman is virtually unstoppable until he crosses paths with Spider-Man.
  • Disgraced weatherman Mark Mardon sees an opportunity when his twin brother, Clyde, develops a rod which can control the weather. After accidentally killing his brother in an altercation regarding the device, Mark returns to New York as the Weather Wizard and seeks retribution for his shame -- only to be met with defeat at the hands of New York's number one wallcrawler.
  • Spider-Man's constant intervention makes him public enemy number one in the eyes of the Green Goblin. The two fight often, with neither one getting the upper hand. The Goblin swears that he will make Spider-Man pay.
  • When New York's banks come under attack from the Royal Flush Gang, Spider-Man finds himself teaming up with another of Manhattan's masked vigilantes, Daredevil.
Year Three

  • Despite hearing the rumors and seeing the artist rendition sketches in the tabloids, Spider-Man is surprised when he actually encounters the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who inhabit Manhattan's sewers. The team and the wallcrawler get on like gangbusters, particularly Spider-Man and Michelangelo.
  • Spider-Man defeats a string of lesser "supervillains," such as the Ringer, Chroma, and Overdrive. None prove a match for the increasingly seasoned crimefighter. The Green Goblin, meanwhile, continues to elude Spider-Man's clutches.
  • Doctor Octopus escapes from incarceration and begins working on a new device that threatens to flatten New York City. He and Spider-Man clash once more, and the good Doctor -- having come prepared -- easily overwhelms the webhead. Spider-Man is only saved when Octavius' makeshift laboratory begins to collapse. Though Spider-Man escapes the collapsing structure, Doctor Octopus is nowhere to be found.
  • Peter Parker lands a job at the Daily Bugle, managing the news conglomerate's website and serving as an IT advisor to the staff. He finds himself drawn to Betty Brant, one of the Bugle's college interns, but the age difference prevents Betty from feeling the same way. Peter continues to harbor his crush from afar.
  • The Green Goblin learns of Spider-Man's identity and launches a surprise attack against Peter Parker. At the Goblin's mercy, Peter is surprised when the Goblin reveals himself to be industrialist tech mogul Norman Osborn. Before the Goblin can finish off his foe, Peter breaks free of his restraints and fights back. The two engage in brutal combat until Norman hits his head and falls unconscious. When he wakes, he has no recollection of his time as the Goblin. Peter leaves, nervous but hopeful that the nightmare is over.
  • Peter graduates from Midtown High School. He nearly misses the ceremony due to the reemergence of Spencer Smythe's Spider-Slayers, but he still arrives in the nick of time to receive his diploma. He finds himself glad to be putting Midtown behind him and dreams of what the future might hold.
Year Four

  • Peter begins attending Empire State University on an academic scholarship. He is not overjoyed to discover that his high school nemesis, Flash Thompson, has followed him on an athletic scholarship. The two continue to give each other a hard time, though the outright bullying at least has stopped.
  • Peter begins working under the tutelage of Dr. Curt Connors, a renowned biologist at Empire State. Though Curt is impressed with Peter's scientific acumen, he finds the student's work habits and tardiness leave a lot to be desired.
  • Despite Flash's protests, Peter is welcomed into the new friend group consisting of Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn, the son of Peter's one-time archnemesis. Though both Harry and Flash clearly have their eyes on Gwen, she finds herself drawn to the mysteriously aloof Peter. He, in turn, feels an attraction towards Gwen. He is surprised to find out that Gwen's father, George Stacy, is a captain with the New York Police Department. George thinks Spider-Man is a hero, but Gwen isn't so sure.
  • During this time, Peter finds himself wrangled into a blind date with the niece of one of Aunt May's friends from down the block. Peter is surprised when he meets the gorgeous Mary Jane Watson. The chemistry is instant, and the two have an amazing date -- at least until Peter is drawn away to deal with a new supervillain named the Rhinorampaging through Manhattan. Peter is surprised to find that Mary Jane isn't mad at him for bailing, but he discovers to his disappointment that she's not looking to settle down with anyone.
  • Spider-Man joins with a group of other New York based heroes -- including familiar face Daredevil -- to assist the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles take on Shredder and the Foot Clan. It goes down as easily the strangest night in Peter's short life.

Why this character?
Have you met me? Spider-Man has been my number one superhero since... well... since I cared enough to have a number one superhero. I'm not even sure I can explain it. Something about the character just resonates with me on a deeper level. If the heavy hitters are banding together to make this game, then I want in, and I want the wallcrawler.

What can you bring to the RPG? Experience, familiarity, passion, synergy, other buzzwords. Y'all know me by now. If you hate my style, you've had plenty of opportunities to tell me. Otherwise, let's get rolling.

Expect IC thread to go up tomorrow or Thursday.

Right on. Time to get to writing. A bit of pre pooooooooooosting if you will.

I'm gonna try to be really loose if I can help it. Minimise the intensive plotting and epic posts, and try to just roll with it and have fun.

Do you have an idea on what season is it going to be when the game start? Just asking for details to throw in the post.

Major events have been edited into my original post. My Spider-Man sample is included below:

"Hello, this is Edwin Jarvis, and you've reached the Avengers Mansion. How might I direct your call?"

"Hey, hi, um... I need to speak to the Avengers," I say sheepishly into the payphone. "Preferably Iron Man or Thor or something, but really any Avenger will do. I'd even take Ant-Man."

I hear a sigh on the other end of the line. "Sir, this is not a personal line. If you'd like to speak to the Avengers--"

"It's an emergency!" I bark. When I'm met with silence, I add, "Please?"

"One moment, sir." Seconds later, the British man on the other end of the phone asks, "Who might I say is calling?"

"Umm... Spider-Man."

Silence. "Goodbye."

"No, wait! I'm serious! This is Spider-Man, and there's a--" Click. Dialtone. Reaching into the concealed pocket on my costume, I take out two more quarters and flip the pages of the phone book furiously. Punching the numbers with extreme urgency, I begin tapping my foot as it begins to ring.

"Hello, this is Reed Richards--"

"Reed! Oh, thank God! Listen--"

"--and you've reached the Fantastic Four's automated phone line. If you're calling to request an interview or a talk show appearance, press 'one' now. If you're calling about an endorsement--"

I slam down the phone, and not a moment too soon. As my Spider-Sense begins to buzz, I hightail it out of there with a double back handspring. Less than a second later, a giant robotic foot stomps down on the spot where the payphone once stood. I hear the glass shatter with a crunch. Okay, Spidey. So a giant robot is rampaging through Manhattan, and you can't count on the Avengers or the Fantastic Four to help. I gulp, staring up at the massive automaton. It towers above the street at more than ten stories tall. Its limbs are thicker than school buses. "Sure. I'll shoot a web at it. That oughta do something, right?"

Times like these? I hate being Spider-Man. You just know that Daredevil never has to deal with this kind of stuff. Oh well. It should make a good story to tell my grandkids -- assuming I livelong enough to have grandkids. Because if this giant robot doesn't kill me, Gwen certainly will because I'm going to be late to dinner... again. I suppose I could tell her that a giant robot held me up. Yeah... that would go over well.

"Down here, Iron Giant!" I yell. The robot turns its massive glowing eyes at me, and-- wait a minute... I don't remember its eyes glowing. Come to think of it, they seem to be getting brighter. And redder. And-- Holy crap, it has laser eyes! I leap out of the way just in time, snagging the robot's shoulder with a webline and swinging around behind it. The spot where I was standing is reduced to a smouldering crater.

As I clutch to its giant, metallic back, I can't help but think of that scene in Empire Strikes Back where the Millennium Falcon hides by docking on the side of a Star Destroyer. Good movie. If I survive today, I'll have to watch it again soon. Hey! That reminds me...

Anchoring a webline against the robot's hip, I begin swinging in large arcs around its legs. After my fourth or fifth pass, the robot begins to struggle. The web begins to constrict, pulling its legs closer and closer together until... "Bingo!" The robot's knees buckle, and it begins to topple like a tree in a forest. I release my webline and land a few yards behind the fallen behemoth. "I... can't believe that actually worked." I smirk. And Aunt May said those movies were too violent and that I shouldn't be watching them!

I web the robot to the street until my web cartridges are emptied. That should hold him until someone way more qualified than me can come around and pick up this hunk of scrap metal. I switch out my empty cartridges for fresh ones and begin on my merry way towards the Upper West Side. If I make good time, I might still make it on time for dinner with Gwen. I just pray that the trademark Parker luck doesn't rear its ugly head because everything's going right for a change.

And that usually means that something ugly is just around the corner.

Should wrap up Moon Knight app tomorrow night at work.

Singular Universe: Brave New World Character Application

Character Name: Tony Stark/Iron Man

Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line): I'd say "Force of Nature" fits fairly well, don't you?

Character Speech Color and Font (actually say what it is, like Blue Comic Sans): Red Lucida Console out of the suit DeepSkyBlue Lucida Console Bold in the suit

Powers and Abilities: Genius-level intellect, Powered armor(s) with enhanced strength, durability, Energy and projectile weaponry, flight capabilities, among other things.

Character Origin/Major Events:

Year One:
  • Iron Man's Origin (basically the first movie)
  • Stark and Pepper's relationship becomes the stuff of tabloids.
  • The Mandarin appears, threatens Stark and America, is killed in battle with Iron Man over San Francisco Bay (although no body was recovered).

Year Two:
  • Stark encounters more supervillains, including the Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Doctor Light, and Radioactive Man.
  • The stress of being Iron Man begins to get to Stark, and he starts drinking more.
  • Stark begins to update Iron Man's armor often, to the point where each major appearance features a different version of his armor.

Year Three:
  • As Stark's alcoholism gets worse, he and Pepper have a very public break-up. The headline "Demon In A Bottle" goes viral as Stark enters rehab.
  • During Stark's tenure in rehab, Col. Rhodes takes up the mantle of Iron Man, helping to found the Avengers.
  • After rehab, a clean and sober Stark takes back the mantle of Iron Man, while Rhodes uses a similar suit of armor as War Machine. Rhodes stays with the Avengers, while Stark joins the newly formed Justice League of America.

Year Four:
  • Stark steps down as CEO of Stark Industries, appointing Pepper to the position. She rebrands the company as a cybernetics firm, issuing a statement that Stark Industries will be a force for peace and healing in the world. Stark himself serves as Vice-President and chief spokesman, allowing him to continue his superhero career. He does, however, retain majority ownership of the company.
  • Pepper and Happy get married.
  • Col. Rhodes is appointed as Secretary of Defense. He only rarely acts as a superhero, and when he does, it is as the Iron Patriot, a rebranded version of his War Machine armor.
  • A madman named Vandal Savage crosses swords with Iron Man while trying to overthrow the government in the Balkan nation Kasnia. After stopping the villain, Stark discovers that he is a descendant of Savage's.

Why this character? He's my iconic One Universe character, and I have an idea for him that'll be fun.

What can you bring to the RPG? Nothing. Deal with that!

An army of reporters (as well as those reporting to the Army) wait with bated breath in the press room. They've been waiting for me, Tony Stark. Iron Man. For damn good reason, too. I'm the man of the hour, and this is my next big moment. The flashbulbs flicker as I walk onto the stage, blinding me as I step behind the glass podium. As usual, my suit is on point. All white, perfectly tailored, and fully equipped. I flash a winning smile to the little people who'd come to see me.

"Good morning," I say, "I know you're wondering why I've called this press conference today, and since I'm busy, I won't mince words here. As of today, Stark Industries is allowing the United States, as well as certain member nations of the UN, access to the schematics and technology used in my Iron Man armors, up until the Mark IV. That's the sexy red and gold one, if you're not familiar with the version numbers." I wink at a pretty reporter from the Daily Planet. She has lavender eyes, which impresses me. I'll have to get her name later. "Anyway, this access will allow those governments to build their own fleets of Iron Men, for use in peacekeeping operations and in supervillain prisons like the Vault."

Of course, as I've planned, the room explodes with people shouting questions, and the pricks in uniform smirking like they did something clever. One question in particular stands out, though. I raise my hand to silence the crowd and ask her to repeat it.

"Vicki Vale, Gotham Tribune. My question was what's next for Iron Man? If you're giving your armor out to everyone, what makes you special now?"

I smile broadly as I step out from behind the podium. It was a great question actually. So great that I wish I would have thought it up myself and planted someone in the audience to ask it.

"I'm so glad you asked that. As you all know, I am Tony Stark, and I am Iron Man, and that makes me one of those people who is always special." A bit of laughter rolls through the crowd. "I've got a new armor, developed with technology pioneered by a man who once saved my life, a man named Dr. William Magnus. Ladies and gentlemen..."

Harley Sample:

"That was another productive session today, Temple. You've been making great strides these past weeks. Now this week, we are going to try giving you your pocket watch back, but you will have a different schedule everyday."

"Do you think I'm ready, Dr. Quinzell?"

"Absolutely. You are in control of your own life. You watch is just a tool, it doesn't control you."

A pair of guards placed Temple Fugate back into his shackles and led him from Dr. Harleen Quinzel's office.

"I'll be in touch about next weeks session, Temple. Remember, we control our schedule, not the other way around."

"Thank you, Dr. Quinzell."

"Another quality session, Harleen."

Dr. Thomas Elliot greeted his head psychotrist with a healthy handshake and a sincere pat on the shoulder. Her work with the inmates, and their subsequent trust she was gaining, seemed to be keeping them content. After the breakout at the old Asylum, content inmates made investors very happy. And happy investors were more than willing to open their wallets just a little bit wider. As administator of Arkham City, Dr. Elliot was first in line to reap the financial rewards.

"People are really starting to notice you. I've even heard from a close friend in high places that you are in line to receive the annual Wayne Foundation Humanitarian Award, with a very substantial grant attached to further fund your research."

"That's wonderful, Dr. Elliot. I'm--I'm speechless."

"I don't believe you have any more appointments today. Why don't you knock off early, get a head start in your weekend."

"Thank you, Dr. Elliot. You have a wonderful weekend yourself."

"I don't need anybody's damn money. I can get money anytime I want. A bat of the eyelashes, the right wiggle...No, what I need is a man, a god, somebody who can help me take down this elitist superhuman society. Somebody who will fight the establishment with me."

Harleen navigated through the familiar alley in the Narrows section of Gotham. She thought that her prayers may have been answered when she had been introduced to Two-Face but, alas, there was still too much of Harvey Dent left inside his fractured mind to do real good. There were many, many inmates who believed in her vision, but they weren't strong enough, weren't what she needed.

Harleen approached a steel door situated in the darkest part of the Narrows. She knocked in rhythm, waited, and finished the pattern. A second passed, and she could hear somebody behind the door looking through the peephole. A second later, the door opened and a small boy, 10 years old, stood in the door way. He smiled warmly at Harleen.

"Hi, Connor. How's my favorite boy tonight."

"I'm good, Miss Quinzell."

The boy reached into his pocket and pulled out a back of white powder. He handed it to Harleen in exchange for a roll of cash. He was such a sweet boy, and he had a lovely family. The had lost everything because of the cruel, hateful people of Gotham City Hall and it's corrupt police department. She felt good knowing that the money her purchase alone tonight would ensure that they ate for the next week to come, until it was time for her to resupply.

These people were the heart and soul of Gotham. Maybe people frowned upon the drug trade, but it was all these people had until the city was cleaned up and the good, respectable people could return to their real jobs and start over again.

"You have a good night, sweetie, and be safe."

Harleen dropped the straw and sat back. It was in these moments, she felt that she could take on the city, the entire world, herself. It was probably the only negative side effect she felt, an overestimation of her abilites. God, if she had only heard of this back home, think of what more she could have accomplished.

She picked up the razor blade and chopped out one last line before her date arrived. Just another putz to have some meaningless fun with, she was sure. But, her prince charming would arrive soon enough, She was sure of it, She could feel it.

Oooooooh, a Harley Quinn! We're going to have some fun, 9X17!

Also, despite Stark being on the Justice League, we can have it where he built a version of JARVIS for the Avengers if necessary.
