Isn't that from The Last Stand website?

Oh, ha ha, very nice. If they made First Class, does that mean they will recast all the original...I mean their gettin old...

Yes, most likely... save for maybe Patrick Stewart (???), if he wants to return.

Wow, we might have a better chance with the little wee ones in X-men 4, least most of them have had their character for 3 movies.

Christian Bale's highly publicized rant = more buzzworthy and entertaining than Hugh Jackman's Oscar performance. :oldrazz:

If only the whole thing had a positive effect on Bale's career...

Sorry but I think Bale is a hotter commodity than Jackman right now. Jackman is a good actor and probably the nicest guy on this planet and what a family man but CB is more in the spot light right now and I think without him, Terminator would not do near as well. I do think because he is in it and because it will probably be a better all around movie, it will beat Wolverine at the b.o.

there are 5 different kinds of people this will appeal to:

-comic book fans (less than 10% of overall box office)

-action movie fans (40% of overall box office)

-people that like watching a good popcorn movie to start the summer regardless of what it is (30% of box office)

-comic book movie fans/people that enjoy comic book movies as a genre (20% of overall box office)

-hugh jackman fans (1-2% of overall box office)

*creepy post number...

haha

I gotta dissagree with this, and reference the post by Night0205.

Jackman's on more magazine covers than any other actor right now, and that's something that doesn't pertain entirely to promoting Wolverine.

The guy's being honored this year at Grauman's.

He's at that point Bruce Willis entered after Die Hard 3, where the guy was on every possible news channel you could have on cable. I think E! was actually created just to show clips of Willis making appearances at various Planet Hollywoods in 1996 :woot:

Bale's a recognizable name, but not a powerhouse name.

*The hosting gig at The Oscars was The Academy's way of telling Jackman "We didn't nominate you, but we like you."

I think without him, Terminator would not do near as well. I do think because he is in it and because it will probably be a better all around movie, it will beat Wolverine at the b.o.

Bale's a great actor, but his charisma is far from Jackman's - and that charisma is the reason Jackman is a more consolidated Hollywood personality than Bale.

Everybody knows Hugh Jackman.

Not everybody knows Christian Bale, but everybody knows Batman.

There's a big difference between being known for a film you were in than for being known as the Sexiest Man of 2008 :cwink:

Simple case of this, in The Prestige, Hugh got top billing. And that was before Sexiest Man Alive, The Oscars, and a bunch of other stuff, and for Christian before TDK(which was very much generating tons of talk for Heath). I think fanboys are a little skewed in perception when it comes to Hugh VS Christian. All in all though, they're both great actors.

VERY good point.

Earlier I also brushed on how Bale is a fanboy favorite, while Jackman not so much.

Jackman's been getting top billing since Van Helsing, only Nicole Kidman made him #2 for Australia.

Bale is still riding shotgun to guys like Ledger (impromptu shotgun) and Johnny Depp - another guy more popular than him.

*Jackman is also the Golden Globe Nominee and Tony Winner, he just appeals to a wider spectrum than Bale.

Interesting thing about Australia is that although Nic got top billing, Hugh was prominently featured on all ads/promotional material for the movie, and his promo tour for the movie was a lot more hectic and much like the one he's on now for Wolverine compared to Nic's.

I'm a HUGE Hugh fan so I can say that his fanbase is quite different and covers a whole lot of areas of entertainment, not just film. Bale is a lot more low key and he for a long time now has stuck with the smaller types of movies with exception to Batman and now Terminator. We'll see how well that does, I'm sure it'll do great but the reason for the super success won't be because of Bale being the huge BO draw because he isn''t. I'm not saying Hugh is either, like I said the only actual BO draw left is Will Smith who opens a movie regardless of subject matter.

They call him a triple threat...you can't say that about Bale. He is honored in all layers of the entertainment business. From stage to film, the guy is worshipped. Listen I love Christian Bale, but if it wasn't for TDK, you guys wouldn't even be having this argument. And TDK belonged to Heath...it's a fact. I love Christian Bale, I'm just saying, he's not where Hugh Jackman is at... Every actor or actress that works with him, praises him, and he is a producer...I'm actually not sure if Bale has produced yet, he obviously can. My point being, Hugh is on top right now. Doesn't mean he's better, but I think he's on top.

True.

Yea I would say Jackman is above Bale on the "celebrity-o-meter".

Jackman just has more charisma, he is more well liked. I don't think anyone can say a bad word about Hugh, he really does seem like a great, great guy. I saw him on the Jonathan Ross show the other day. He isn't deadly serious about everything like Bale, he knows how to have a laugh and most importantly, laugh at himself. Bale could never do that, he is too stuck up his own arse.

I can't imagine what the set of 3:10 to Yuma was like.

Two bulls and one camera. Or several.

jackman is more in the spotlight. he is more out for the public.

Honestly, I can't help but think that if one of the gaffers or something ****ed up on set, Jackman would not only not go on a tirade, he would crack a joke about it on set. That's just the kind of guy he is, I could never see him pissed about anything.

And that wouldn't make for a couple weeks worth of gossip and a sweet remix.

I don't know exactly what we're arguing here but if we are talking about which out of the two actors is more "in the spotlight" atm then I'd probably have to say Jackman. That isn't to say I think he's a better actor—I don't—but they are two VERY different personalities. Christian, as big a star as he is, is a private person not acclimated with the idea of being famous. You can fault him for that, but part of the reason he isn't as popular is because he doesn't want to be and his reluctance to have ANY public persona, good or bad, is what keeps him low-key.

Either way I don't want to say one is "better" than the other because that is a pretty immature way to look at it. Christian is a little more pretentious and interested in doing films of artistic merit and Hugh seems to be the all-around entertainer that just loves making people smile (not saying he doesn't make films of artistic merit), which in its own way can be pretentious.

They both obviously have different ideas of what acting and being a celebrity should be and handle the situations accordingly.

And just another comment: I don't think Bale's rant has affected him much, if at all. The absolute ludicrousness of it coupled with all the poking fun at it and his public apology just gave him more press time. It is similar to how the Wolverine leak will probably only serve to help the film; I certainly don't see it hurting the film, regardless if I think it should.

Sorry. Accidental double post.
