May Box Office Predictions

Not really...I have X3 at #4 in my predictions... :(

I still think Da Vinci Code might pull up a dissapointment..

I think that X3 is going to make more than 90 million the first weekend.

Sounds like a stretch...But, it could happen...

I'm aiming low and not expect anything over a 75m opening weekend..

X2 made more than 80 million, and considering all the hype and also long weekend.X3 is going to make more.

has anybody seen the box office prediction in comingsoon.net? x3 is at the 5th spot... SR i think is at the third spot. i can not believe it either. :(
I think having Pirates on top will definitely hold true. I think Cars will likely be up there (animated films like this tend to do well even if reviews are bad). Da Vinci will likely get overshadowed after X3 comes out, and SR will only do well with good reviews (right now, the film looks way to campy... and I'm a Superman fan). X3 will definitely be in the top 5, if not the top 3 of the year.

I don't expect Poseidon to fare over 200m domestically...I expect the same from MI3...

I don't expect Poseidon to make over 150 domestically. Now i may be wrong, but i'm seeing 20-30 million opening weekend.

Fergie from BEP is in it. I smell a flop.

Pfft..That's nothing to base a prediction on...

I'm actually expecting Poseidon to surprise some people...I'm estimating 180m for domestic gross...

All I heard about Poseidon is how it will never be better than the original, as for Da Vinci, I dont think it is going to make as much as people are saying it will, but hey I can be wrong.

i think MI:3's box office being lower than expected is a bad sign for X3, the movie was generally liked by critics and was hyped to death and while 48 mill isn't that bad it was expected to be much bigger. i dont think the X3 box office will match X2 , i think it will make maybe 65 mill opening weekend.

I don't get this box office slump...Movies are just as good and bad as they've always been...So it can't be about movie quality..

It is a piracy issue? Are ticket prices too high? Are people too lazy to go out to the theaters? Are people not pressured to watch movies in theaters anymore with the quicker DVD releases?

Not necessarily - remember X3 is premiering on a holiday weekend when a lot of people go to the movies so I think it will do fine.

Two words: Tom Cruise.

I know nothing affected 'War of the Worlds' last year (his biggest hit), but I think Spielberg's name helped with that. But this was a sequel, and nearly everyone I know has been rolling their eyes at the thought of this one.

Theory not in any sort professional basis (I saw the movie this weekend and thought it was great), but it might be a reason.

Tom Cruise's popularity level may have affected MI3 more than some think...remember Ben Affleck and J-Lo's highly publicized relationship...people had enough of it...and it showed with Gigli (ok it was a bad movie I'm not comparing it to MI3 at all) Jersey Girl, Paycheck then Surviving Christmas...movie audiences were over him...this is just the start of Tom's lower approval rating no matter what the quality of his next movie is...he's always been the type that didn't enjoy the press and media, he's huge and he knows it...but now the public has seen a side of him we never knew existed...just go watch that whole Oprah appearance again...and recent interviews, and the Katie baby thing...he's become a target now...so I agree the movie was great and there are other factors out there like the piracy issue...hopefully this movie will have good hold over and be another hit...atleast as big as part one...I really enjoyed it (cept for the end)...when other movies like DaVinci Code and Over the Hedge and X3 are sold out during opening weekends...MI3 will somones 2nd or 3rd choice to go see...there is still plenty of opportunities for it to make some money.

I don't know whether Tom Cruise is as psycho, as much as he is annoying as hell, or perhaps he's both. But I do know that the box office comes from overkill of seeing him continuing to jump around like a happy-go-lucky sprite.:o

uh....MI2 with john Woo realy sucked! when that happens fans grow cold to a franchise.

It takes a strong fan happy sequal to create a trillogy possibility

There is no way X3 opens with only 65 million. M:I 3 had some obstacles to overcome, namely Tom Cruise and his wackiness and the fact that the film should have been made 3 years ago.

X3 is opening on Memorial Day weekend, this sucker is going to make more than 85 million opening weekend for sure!

MI2 didn't "suck"...It was just a sloppy action movie with few high points.

It was fun to watch...Unlike...Stay Alive or something.. :p
