Yeah, I think we saw all this coming. :funny: Fox will still make a little change, but the sequel or any spinoffs will suffer. We'll see what they do...

Star Trek I think will have around a 55% drop next week. It's VERY rare for a movie that opens big (I'll say more than $50 million just to put a number on it) to have a drop of less than 50%. But great WOM should prevent it from dropping more than 60%.

To just assume that all fan-driven films drop 65% in their second weekend is ludicrous. TDK had the biggest OW in history, and it dropped 52.5%. :oldrazz:

ST's WOM is very good, it'll do well.

I see, still not official though. But nice find.

No studio would ever confirm nor deny a movie's production budget so something like what was quoted is pretty much the closes we'll ever get to a confirmation.

Alex Young, Fox's co-president of production, has gone on record to say that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the most expensive X-Men movie to date.

Committing those ideas to film turned out to be immensely complicated. Young won't divulge the new film's budget but admits it's the franchise's priciest (i.e., higher than The Last Stand's reported $165 million). ''It's bigger in scale and size than any of the other X-Men movies. It's also more primal and visceral. We haven't even come close to this pitch of intensity and fury.''

I don't know if I believe Young, as I have no idea how this movie cost more than The Last Stand, but those are his words. Make of them what you will.

How could Wolverine cost that much and look that cheap? I just don't believe that the movie cost more than 130mil to make.

I just saw Star Trek. It was good but not awesome, Chris Pine is briiliant in it, Quinto is also surprisingly good (considering i hate him on Heroes), but no way did i think it deserve the RT score of 96 per cent. The reviews are way overblown and orgasmic. I actually prefer Wolverine. Star Trek seemed like hollow spectacle with very little finesse or elegance, which I guess i should expect from the TF writers. The music was too loud, like a drunken orchestra.

Good god.....I mean seriously.

:facepalm.

Its called an opinion. Seriously, can we just put our differences aside and talk about box office???

HAHA Wolverine costed more than 165 million and it won't even make that back domestic.

Someone's trying hard to be a Mod...
What an utterly immature attack. I am not trying to be a mod. Why would I? Being a mod is a mod's job. I'm just sick and tired of people not respected people who have different opinions - especially when they liked the movie. I also read this thread a lot and find that it is ruined by people who don't seem to want to accept the fact that their negative opinions of the movie are just that - OPINIONS.
The value of art is something dependent on taste and opinion. Not fact. There is really no such thing as bad taste, just different taste. Why can't some people just accept that?

Well to be fair, it is his opinion even though I will 100% disagree with him when he says that it is a hollow spectacle with little finesse or elegance when Wolverine is the exact opposite of that. But, I do think talking about Star Trek's opening has to do with Wolverine's box office performance.

Oh yea i think I remember reading that quote before. Im in the same camp in doubting Fox would shell out that huge amount of money for this. For one thing, the main draw for the studio in developing Wolverine, as opposed to a team X-men movie, was so they could save money.

Please point us to a post of you defending someone from an attack who has an opinion other than yours...Ive seen you attack people who dont like Wolverine, but I have not seen you go after the equal vicious people who loved Wolverine.

Yep, they saved money on not having to pay Halle Berre, Patrick Stewart and everyone else, not that the other guys could cost very much. But where they REALLY saved money on this film was the freaking cgi, which looked like one guy did it.

It probably costed 80 million...but they want to act all awesome and say it was more.

Know what? I'm not even going to bother. I refuse to get banned/suspended over you.

So can someone update me with the BO numbers, so Wolverine dropped 68% you say? How much money was that?
