Does anyone else find it rather suspecious upon how the film got leaked?

Just some random news i remember from last year in bullet points form.
. Fox is planning to work on video piracy.
. Hugh Jackman is working with studios to help fight against video piracy.
. x-men origins: wolverine was rated the higest most anticipated movie for 2009.

Does anyone else think that Fox planned all this to weed out the video pirates?

question, how do you find everyone who does it? by finding a movie that nearly everyone wants to see. You definatly get the core load,

Was it a leak or a very clever ploy by Fox?

From how i see it Fox seems to only care about themselves and not what happens to the product they sell. you see what they did to x-men 3 and if this is the cause for the leak, what effect will that have on the fans of x-men expecting future movies?

sorry to sound a little bit like the riddler but one month before the movie is out and from FOX of all people the place that is one of the most secure studios?

am i the only one that thinks this?

By the way i havent seen this movie and i won't be downloading it, i feel movies are made for cinemas even though they charge a rediculous price these days but non the less. downloading vids even by principle is just wrong... you miss out on see the big picture, the experiance, the full effect of the surround sound and popcorn... think of the popcorn.

and to anyone who has seen it, i havent read the reviews but if there negative remember your havent had the full experiance until you see it on big screen and because you have seen it the way you have. your experiance at the cinema is going to be ruined.

Clearly Fox realized the movie is going to do worse than Watchmen at the box office so instead of blaming the movie they will claim it was the leak.

They cant do anything. Plus if they were so worried, Im sure they would have tried to take it down.

Some of us didnt even download it. It was available streaming on some sites. so more people saw it than just those who downloaded. who knows how many people saw the film by now.

Was this by FOX news by any chance? I know everyone else i've talked had absolutely no interest in this film. Watchmen was pretty anticipated though.

Really now? I was thinking Harry Potter, Terminator, and Transformers 2 would be the most anticipated films for the Summer. I know I'm in no rush to see Wolverine and I haven't even watched the leaked version of the film.

haha, op doesn't sound like the riddler, he sounds like the question.

and you're looking far too deep into this leak.

Mmm, I doubt it'll do worse than Watchmen. Wolverine is WAY more well known then all the characters in WM combined, so, sadly, I think it's a safe bet this will do better.

Exactly Wolverine will make money by name alone regardless of quality. The X-Men franchise along with Wolverine are very well known whereas Watchmen isn't nearly as big in popularity.

Even taking those into account, Wolvies no where near the top

They are...idk about Terminator as much as Transformers 2 and HP6...those two will likely be the top 2 earners this summer.

I think if Fox wanted to blame a leak for the low box office, they'd have leaked it maybe a week earlier, but a month? It's too much.
And I saw the movie, and I liked it.
And I don't think my experience at the cinema will be ruined; I'm still looking forward May 1st, and I hope it does well in box office.

Despite Watchmen fanboy whining and rushing to bash the film, Wolverine will blow by Watchmen's domestic take in 10 days even with the leak. Mark it down and be prepared to be even more frustrated, bitter and angry.

Which studio isn't secure? :oldrazz:

I personally believe this leak was from a distributor who was supposed to do test screenings. Anyone intimately close to the film would have received individually watermarked (and probably low-quality) versions, and anyone working on CGI would have gotten only pieces of the film. The only way that a HQ workprint of the entire film leaked is from someone involved in test screenings.

All of these movies will do well but, I also think Star Trek will do great. It's been marketed well, gotten great test screened reviews, and will definitely, take a considerable percentage of Wolverine's audience if this movie is terrible.

This movie will definitely do better than Watchmen, BUT even as a die hard X-Men fan who is stoked for this film due to my favorite character ever finally getting screen time (Gambit), this film isn't even close to the most anticipated film of the year.

I just really haven't heard much general anticipation from people I've encountered. My brother, his friend, and his friend's friend are about the only people that I know that are even talking about it, and only 1 of those people is really looking forward to it - a die hard Wolverine fan.

My brother isn't anticipating it, at least not majorly, as he's already convinced it's going to suck. His friend isn't really anticipating it for the same reasons. I'm going to see the midnight showing with both of these guys, but it's really MY thing and they are coming along for the ride as comic book fans.

After seeing the film, I don't anticipate they will like it very much.

Really, this film will have a nice opening weekend, due to the release date, and the fact that it's a Wolverine flick. But also, I do think people might be getting a bit burnt out on X-Men, the movie doesn't have amazing quality that makes it stand out (I think it takes someone like me that has an attatchment to the characters to truly appreciate it), and I think it's going to come and go without much hoopla.

But perhaps I am wrong.

I agree that anticipation doesn't seem to be as high as it should be. No one I've seen in my college is talking about this film. I showed the trailers to my brother and he basically said "meh". And he liked most of the other X-Films, even X-3.

I spend a considerable amount of time in the Watchmen boards and I don't recall all of us let alone even most of us Watchmen fans talking **** about the Wolverine movie.

I notice there have been multiple times you keep bringing this up...let it go.

I think I recall a few people talking **** because of the lawsuit but your making it sound like it was a mob...it wasn't.

It won't matter if Wolverine makes more money than Watchmen(which it probably will...solely because of name) lets talk after it's released about which was the better film.

Please DON'T tell me fans of this film will take solace in the fact that they may beat out Watchmen... who the **** cares?

Why does your brother and his friend think it's going to suck and did they like or dislike any of the X-men films?

After seeing the film, I don't anticipate they will like it very much.

Why do you think they won't like it after now having seen it for yourself?

I think that may be the problem as well, people other than hardcore comic fans being burnt out on X-men.

I agree. This perceived rivalry between Watchman and Wolverine is pathetic and the only one perpetuating that myth is you Todog. Grow up you tool.

A lot of fans criticising Wolverine aren't even Watchmen fans either. I thought that was awful too. But it least it had some coherence and semblance to the source material, unlike this abomination.

To answer your questions:

I don't think they are that interested because they don't have the same tolerance for changes to the source material that I do. Shoot, I even got into an argument with my brother the other night because he was talking about how Jackman wasn't Logan because he's too tall.

The other thing is that I have told them about all of the Deadpool rumors - and even when I was telling them about how Deadpool was supposed to transform into true to the source material Deadpool, they still didn't buy it and weren't satisfied. After showing my brother the 2nd trailer that had Deadpool shooting optic blasts, the words out of my brother's mouth was "They are going to f--- it up"

Although he did get geeked up when I showed him the TV spot with kid Logan in the 1800's first discovering his bone claws, and impaling Thomas Logan.

After seeing the film, why I think they won't like it is for my brother, the movie isn't anywhere near as gritty and dark as it should be. My brother feels that Logan has been way too tame in the movies, and his berserker rage side hasn't been showcased enough. I don't think this movie is really any different, and when it does get violent, it's still eye candy type of violence, not viscious and gory type of action.

As for my brother's friend, I think he's one of those types of guys that doesn't really accept comic book films outside of The Dark Knight and the Spiderman flicks. Last time I talked to him about the movie, he was already complaining about the X-Men films with Nightcrawler, X-Men: The Last Stand, Psylocke, etc... and was complaining about how weak of a character that Gambit is.

I could very well be misjudging my brother's friend, as I don't know him as well obviously, and he could be yanking my chain on the whole Gambit thing as he knows how big of a Gambit fan I am, but for my brother, he'll go see it, and he's interested, but not hugely interested and I don't think he'll like it very much.
