Something isnt right about this whole thing

Sorry, I wasn't avoiding your post, I just forgot about this thread.

Secondary characters:
-Pretty obvious - characters like Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Callisto, Quill, Arclight, Multiple Man - they don't need to have development. They are there because their powers will becomes useful over some point in the story.

-Sure, the movie could have been longer to allow for more development.
Exactly. Some of the characters, as presented in the workprint, don't further the story by using their powers. They're "just there" for convenience's sake because they got to use their powers for 3 seconds before in a previous scene. Or for one fan-anticipated favorite, just to show off some cool effects.

Maybe. And then maybe someone needs to be fired to send a message that you can't leave DVD workprints just lying on your desk.

i still think that this leak will not change the BO a lot.

Given how it was cut, and what they have at stake, I would be inclined to think Marvel had something to do with the workprint.

Well...maybe WB is at fault too because of what Fox tried to do with Watchmen.....but we can come up with theories till the cow comes home

I disagree. They would only have the footage they needed to work on, not the entire movie. Each person would only get a scene or two, at most. Why would they get the entire movie if not every scene of the movie had FX in it? That's stupid even for Fox.

In that stage of post, the only people who would have access to the entire workprint would have been the editor, the director, test screening distributors, and any execs who requested to see it. My money's on the latter two possibilities.

Fox IS stupid, but maybe you're right.

And what if the guy who leaked the copy NEVER LEFT THE BUILDING? He could've simply used Fox's internet to leak it.

One thing I do believe is the person who stole the work print will not get caught.

I doubt it was Marvel who leaked the film. If they wanted the franchise back so badly, why run it into the ground and risk being caught in the process? It would be a worthless property if they got it back like that, and it would take years to get a reboot going that anyone outside hardcore comic fans would want to see.

This is a franchise which, love it or hate it, has grossed over $1 billion worldwide and has plenty of fans who have never picked up a comic book. I doubt any of them are craving for a do-over of the whole series at this time. Why not just let the series run its course at Fox and have Marvel pick it up whent the time is right?

I also doubt it had anything to do with Watchmen. Fox was legally in the right over that issue, if there's anyone someone at WB should be upset with, it's their own company for not making sure they secured the rights to the film in the first place.
