Something isnt right about this whole thing

To answer your questions:

I don't think they are that interested because they don't have the same tolerance for changes to the source material that I do. Shoot, I even got into an argument with my brother the other night because he was talking about how Jackman wasn't Logan because he's too tall.

The other thing is that I have told them about all of the Deadpool rumors - and even when I was telling them about how Deadpool was supposed to transform into true to the source material Deadpool, they still didn't buy it and weren't satisfied. After showing my brother the 2nd trailer that had Deadpool shooting optic blasts, the words out of my brother's mouth was "They are going to f--- it up"

Although he did get geeked up when I showed him the TV spot with kid Logan in the 1800's first discovering his bone claws, and impaling Thomas Logan.

After seeing the film, why I think they won't like it is for my brother, the movie isn't anywhere near as gritty and dark as it should be. My brother feels that Logan has been way too tame in the movies, and his berserker rage side hasn't been showcased enough. I don't think this movie is really any different, and when it does get violent, it's still eye candy type of violence, not viscious and gory type of action.

As for my brother's friend, I think he's one of those types of guys that doesn't really accept comic book films outside of The Dark Knight and the Spiderman flicks. Last time I talked to him about the movie, he was already complaining about the X-Men films with Nightcrawler, X-Men: The Last Stand, Psylocke, etc... and was complaining about how weak of a character that Gambit is.

I could very well be misjudging my brother's friend, as I don't know him as well obviously, and he could be yanking my chain on the whole Gambit thing as he knows how big of a Gambit fan I am, but for my brother, he'll go see it, and he's interested, but not hugely interested and I don't think he'll like it very much.

So basically your brother is a pretty big comic fan and is less forgiving then a lot of us. I didn't know if he was a comic fan or more on the general audience member side of things.

Your brother and his friend remind me of my younger sister(who I got into comics, especially X-men). She's hardcore about changes and actually full on hated even Singer's films including X-2. Part of it was because Rogue is her favorite character and she has a deep hate for Anna Paquin now for ruining the character. :woot:

It's weird how different fanboys can be. I am a HUGE X-Men fanboy. Admittedly I am not an expert when it comes to the comics, but I am pretty much the BIGGEST X-Men fan out of anyone that I know.

I absolutely ADORE the X-Men movies (all 4 of them). Yea, I mean sure, all the movies had some variations from the source material, but save for killing Cyclops, killing Xavier, curing Rogue, and the treatment that Lady Deathstrike and Deadpool got, there's nothing in the film that goes against the spirit of the source material.

The general themes are in tact. The characters are all pretty much spot on (even Rogue is accurate to a particular VERSION of the character), and what changes that are there usually don't trample on the essence of the character (I.E. a taller Wolverine, Jean Grey as a doctor, William Stryker as a Colonel, Juggernaut as a mutant, etc...)

I even really like some of the adaptations and liberties taken, like the method of Jean's sacrifice in X2.

But I've dealt with so many people around here that just can't get over certain changes, and absolutely despise the films.

I really liked the first two films despite all the changes. It wasn't until the third film that I started getting bitter. That was mainly because of Fox making it only 90 minutes on top of trying to throw in as many 'cameos' as possible combined with throwing two major story arcs in. The first film wasn't nearly as long as X2 but at least they rounded it out with the characters better than X3.

I probably would have enjoyed X3 more if it was about as long as X2 was or if they had removed a lot of the somewhat pointless cameos or just stuck with one story. Either the Phoenix story or the cure.

I have no problems with the added characters - most of them are just secondary characters and don't really need much development anyways.

I also don't have a problem with the 2 story arcs - most movies usually do have more than one ongoing story arc.

What I do have a problem with is the fact that they stuck with the bare minimum of development. What's there works, but with some more, they could have fleshed it out and made it a lot more emotionall powerful.

Who are you talking about when you say "secondary characters" though?

Yeah but for a 90 minute film with so many characters in it...it should have been at least two hours.

I agree with this. That's what I mean about it needed a longer runtime, to flesh things out more, give it some more depth and emotion.

Rothman calls the people that leaked the film bastards while he happily churns out mediocre movies that rape numerous characters.

Despite Watchmen fanboy whining and rushing to bash the film, Wolverine will blow by Watchmen's domestic take in 10 days even with the leak. Mark it down and be prepared to be even more frustrated, bitter and angry.

Barakapool vs. Rorschach? LOL, yes, we will see...

x-men origins: wolverine was rated the higest most anticipated movie for 2009.

Says who?

Honestly, I think its a cheap marketing ploy. They probably realized that no one's really talking about it so they had to get it into the press somehow...

i wanna see it again mainly cuz the unfinished cgi looked great

Does anyone else find it rather suspecious upon how the film got leaked?

Just some random news i remember from last year in bullet points form.
. Fox is planning to work on video piracy.
. Hugh Jackman is working with studios to help fight against video piracy.
. x-men origins: wolverine was rated the higest most anticipated movie for 2009.

Does anyone else think that Fox planned all this to weed out the video pirates?

question, how do you find everyone who does it? by finding a movie that nearly everyone wants to see. You definatly get the core load,

Was it a leak or a very clever ploy by Fox?

From how i see it Fox seems to only care about themselves and not what happens to the product they sell. you see what they did to x-men 3 and if this is the cause for the leak, what effect will that have on the fans of x-men expecting future movies?

sorry to sound a little bit like the riddler but one month before the movie is out and from FOX of all people the place that is one of the most secure studios?

am i the only one that thinks this?

By the way i havent seen this movie and i won't be downloading it, i feel movies are made for cinemas even though they charge a rediculous price these days but non the less. downloading vids even by principle is just wrong... you miss out on see the big picture, the experiance, the full effect of the surround sound and popcorn... think of the popcorn.

and to anyone who has seen it, i havent read the reviews but if there negative remember your havent had the full experiance until you see it on big screen and because you have seen it the way you have. your experiance at the cinema is going to be ruined.

Are you trying to say that FOX intentionall released the leak, then plans on going after people who watched it?
Why in the world would that do that? That would just cause people to look at FOX as some sort of snitch, and why would FOX bait their fanbase, then drop the hammer on them when they take the bait? They would do so much damage to themselves that way...
If that is what you meant, of course.

I really doubt FOX would release there movie and then prosecute down loaders. That sounds like total entrapment.

Well, "entrapment" can only come from law enforcement sources, but they would still not do this. They would be shooting themselves in the foot.

It would make more sense that it was the biggest studio April Fools Day joke ever, releasing a bad work print version of the movie on the Internet, then having a totally different "good" version in theaters. Only the paying fans will know for sure.

:whatever:

Yeah, right...

Yeah, right...

Yeah. I can see it now...

FOX: Jokes on you guys not paying to see the movie! The real film is awesome! :hehe:

It's not the first time that was mentioned here, and some people are seriously expecting that... poor souls. :wow:

I don't think the leak was planned. Has fox really been burnt that badly by bootleggers , i dont think so.

Let me guess...Fox contacted SHH and this is part of damage control?

No, not at all. It was a staff decision, and it was due to complaints from people who haven't downloaded the movie. No one here has been in contact with Fox.

Fox Executives probably had a deal with each other. Lets leak the movie & find out how many forums we can control with their spoiler threads

Fox owes me like 2,000 posts...this is unspeakable injustice.

Even taking those into account, Wolvies no where near the top

Mmm, he probably is actually. When the trailer came out, it was huge. It was the #1 watched trailer on yahoo for a few months. It's definitely got a good amount of hype going for it.
