Action-Adventure Sonic 3... and Shadow

Action movies and adventure films.
The edgy hedgehog and blue one going Super Saiyan to battle a mutant lizard as the finale does sound fun.

I have to say, even though I didn’t grow up with Sonic like a lot of people, with the exception of maybe some of the cartoons from the 90s, watching and enjoying this film series kind of caused me to take another gander and gave me a new kind of appreciation for it. Even though I’m still not a super hardcore fan, I see why the fanbase hold it in such high regard and how it’s been able to have such unusual longevity, despite some weirdness and occasional cringe from some fans and missteps within the franchise itself along the way (except for the whole ugly Sonic debacle; understandable as your reactions were, you probably could’ve handled that a bit more tactfully and without the bullying). There is a refreshing unifying quality and a kind of positive community vibe that’s a bit unlike a lot of the other fanbases, which is sadly uncommon nowadays with other communities becoming more more to toxicity over the past decade, and I admire you for that.

Basically, what I’m saying is that you guys are cool and I’m happy to see you and your fandom thriving with the success of this new movie and all of the various games and comics that are coming out, as well as everything that’s yet to come.

Keep spreading and holding onto those positive vibes. Don’t ever lose that! :-)

Ngl, I hated Jim Carrey getting cast as Robotnik because it felt like blatant stunt casting. But I gotta say especially after Sonic 2, I turned around on it big time. He's been exactly what these movies needed because while he's doing it for a paycheck he commits to it.

Really looking forward to catching this with my kid this Saturday.

The only major thing missing from the first film was Metal Sonic for the climax.

I think I agree with this. I know a lot of folks enjoy it but honestly I didn't like Sonic 1 because it felt like a generic family movie that just threw Sonic in it along with rings. If it at least had Metal Sonic at the climax it would've felt more like a Sonic movie that was not embarrassed to be based on a video game.

Sonic 2 on the other hand really embraced its video game roots and it actually turned out to be a much better movie, at least to me.

It was a miracle that movie did well after IT...
