Welp, yeah, Shadow's coming. Should be interesting, but there go all my hopes of ever seeing Metal Sonic in live-action.

Seems to be getting worse reviews than the original so far, I wasn't expecting that.

Once again they need to get off-planet and ditch the dorky human characters with low-brow Michael Bay Transformer movie-level humor. Move them to planet Morbius and let's make a PROPER Sonic movie.

Also to put things in perspective, the first movie was not a critical darling either. It found success because they fixed Sonic's design for the movie and Jim Carrey having a good performance for what seemed like the first time in about 20 years.

The first movie IMO was not great, but it was decent enough and not the complete disasters that Mortal Kombat 2021 and Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City were. For most video game movies kind of decent is almost like masterpiece level. So compared to past blunders, it seemed like a masterpiece.

Detective Pikachu wasn't terrible either, but it also didn't do well enough that they are rushing to make tons more Pokemon live-action films either.

Too much Sonic is a dumb complaint, and whoever said that should be fired as a critic. It's a movie called Sonic [the Hedgehog 2] that's literally about Sonic (and Tails and Knuckles and Robotnik).

I don't think anyone complained there was too much Batman in a movie called The Batman.....

To be honest I think the Critics are just not going to like this movie but the Audience probably will keep in mind Sonic was 63% Fresh but the Audience Score was in the 90s.

Knowing Carey. I feel like this shouldn't come as much as a surprise. He on very rare occasion comes back to play the same character, and if I recall correctly has never done a third movie. He's a guy who can let roles go fairly easily.

I think the guy just needs a break. He seemed to really enjoy working on these films, and with what happens in the second movie and what they seem to have planned for #3, I could see them brining him back to finish out the character's arc.

But if they have to recast him...its gunna suck. But sometimes thats what you got to do. I've personally have a variety of Eggmen in my life. A new one isn't the end of the world.
