tig will murder pope...this will be the final..
Really? I thought the whole episode was a stupid waste. People doing inexplicable things -- Why did Gemma beat up that hooker when she could care less about what Clay does? Why would she even consider talking to Wendy? Hasn't she learned that scheming only blows up in her face? And the whole Opie thing, I dunno. I hated last night's episode from one end to another. Not happy that one of the best characters had to go.That was simply beautiful storytelling. I can't wait to see what move Jax makes next. I hope they have Jax at least look after the interests of Opie's kids.
I really hope Jax isn't the only one left standing at the end. But I wouldn't put it past Sutter.

I know she mumbled something about being mad that he followed her around, but still, she beat up the other lady when all she did was what she was paid for, not like she asked for Clay to take her for a tumble. I dunno. It all seemed a bit OFF to me. Maybe I just need to watch the first three episodes in a row over again or something, because it just doesn't seem like people are behaving as they should be.i think Gemma beat up the girl as an indication that, despite what she says, she's not over Clay at all....

for real
it's like "Ask me where Walt is again, I dare you."--Pope
I want everyone dead. Pope, the warden, all the guards in on it and the 3-4 black dudes who beat/killed him. I want the biggest one chopped up into ****in' pieces and fed to the ****er who kept swinging that pipe down on Opie.
That **** was tough to watch.![]()
Fed to the ****er who kept swinging that pipe huh ? Hmmmmm, I wonder what ****er means................

Others have mentioned the things about Gemma, but what I call beautiful storytelling in this episode (Opie) is that this arc that has been built over 4 seasons. Yeah Opie was awesome and I would have loved for Opie to be V.P. to Jax but his story came to a natural and tragic end.
Also if we want to get metaphorical and ****, Jax was staring at himself through the glass two years (since this is tv, seasons) as a possible endgame depending on what happens.
Opie's death has so many layers to it, and that is why I called it great storytelling.
opie's death was just heart-wrenching stuff. i haven't felt that cold after a character's death since [BLACKOUT]bodie in the wire.[/BLACKOUT]
the shot of jax infront of the glass window while the niner crew were still hitting opie's lifeless body in the background was brutal.
Damn Opie. Dude gave everything for the club. Goddamn. I was just as pissed at Tig as I was at Pope, the guards and the dudes who killed him.
Am I wrong, or was Jax about to volunteer himself to go in the box? I think Opie knew he was going to and took his place instead. Still hurts even now thinking how loyal he was to Jax.
The last shot with Opie on his knees and looking at Jax was freaking hard to watch knowing that that was going to be the end of him.
Full Interview: http://spinoff.comicbookresources.c...utter-talks-about-last-nights-character-death“The death of Opie will color the rest of the episodes for the rest of the series,” he said. “It’s not a death that will happen in vain, and I would hope that people still stay plugged in. Of course there will be a sense of vengeance and there will be something that drives our guys to retaliate, it’s not so much that as it is the emotional impact his death will have on the rest of the series and the rest of the characters.”
Sutter emphasized he wanted Opie’s death to happen now so it will be “organic,” versus building hyping it for the premiere or finale of a season. By losing Opie now in such a tragic way — the character actively sacrificed himself to prevent Jax, Chibs or Tig from having to be killed off to satisfy Damon Pope’s (Harold Perrineau) need for vengeance — Sutter wanted to show there’s going to be a whole new Jax Teller on Sons of Anarchy.
“Jax I think needed this emotional upheaval,” Sutter said. “This is the season where Jax — my sense of it is — Jax really figures out what kind of man he’s going to become and what kind of leader he’s going to be, and I feel like wanting to lay these circumstances out early in the season really allows this death to color all the decisions Jax is going to make [for the rest of the series].”
If Jax had his way, he would have been the man who died in the fight. Sutter confirmed that Opie knew that, which was why he sacrificed himself instead.
“I think he put it together when they were in that prison cell together when Jax told him the truth about what Pope wanted,” Sutter said of the moment Opie knew he would be the one to die. “Opie knows Jax well enough to know that he would rather take the bullet himself to say, ‘Here, take this guy.’ … Rather than put Jax through that agony, he [sacrificed himself].”
