Ive wanted Morbius in a spiderman film for a while, because I think it's cool that a superhero has to face off against a classic monster movie type villain. But an R rated or hard PG13 Morbius movie with Morbius as the star could be good too. Especially if it's a horror genre film.

This, he is one of my favourite Spidey villains and I have been wanting to see on screen for ages. Sony being involved gives me heavy pause, but like Venom there is some decent talent involved.

I can't be upset by this (mostly because I don't really care). Morbius is a lame character, but I don't think he's going to be hurt by being standalone or by being played by Leto.

I don't like the direction they've taken with MCU Spidey, but the fact that this spin-off universe even exists really pisses me off because Sony is ruining our chances of these villians from ever appearing in a proper Spider-Man film.

Sony, please just stop.

Eh...after my usual knee jerk reaction of "Just stop Sony..." I will say that Morbius could have a chance of having a decent solo movie, given that he's not "really" a villain in the traditional sense. This makes more sense to me than Silver & Black and doing a Venom solo this early.

Having said that though, I don't have faith in Sony and my expectations are at ground level.

As I previously said in this thread, I don't think the idea of a Morbius solo is inherently bad (makes more sense than the Venom solo) but I just don't trust Sony with anything they do. Their leaked emails from years ago prove they really don't have a clue on how to approach any of these properties and they're just desperatly throwing everything at the wall.

So far this sounds pretty exciting. I really dig the choice of Leto in the role. I think he, like Tom Hardy with Eddie Brock, has the acting chops to bring the appropriate complexity to Michael Morbius. The choice for director doesn't sound too bad, either. For now...
