Morbius Sony announces a Morbius movie in development!

Personally I don’t see Marvel ever using Morbius, so I am perfectly fine with this movie happening. But I agree the tone can’t be as goofy and out there as Venom was. This would need to be a bit darker and more serious for me.

Because he probably wouldn't be used any time soon in the MCU?
I see no foul here: while I understand (but do not agree) the grievances about Venom, Morbius' origin is disconnected from Spider-Man.

Ok cool. But he would of worked in a blade movie or any other franchise. I see lots of foul here. Just see Sony trying to bleed spidey characters dry. Trying to make money but not good stories. I don’t know anyone who wants a morbius movie except for some fans who know the character. Atleast with venom people have been waiting for it

I get what you're saying, but it is not like Iron Man is walking through Sony's door to make a movie out of. They only have the Spider-Man characters they have to work with. Given who they have, Morbius is one of their better options.

Because Sony does not have Iron Man. I didn't say they did. My exact point is they have limited options for people who can carry movies. Of the people in the Spider-Man rights who would you base a movie around besides Spider-Man? Morbius is one of the few who maybe can

I never said he had Iron Man potential. I said they don't have Iron Man walking through the door and being the focus of a Sony movie. So guys like Morbius are who they have to use, and he is better than most of who they have to use.

As for your other point, morbius has had solo Comics before. I have never read them so I have no story I can give you to base it off of, but if he can support a solo mini series then obviously there is material for him

Yep, and the picture 2kt09 responded you with is the cover of the first issue of one of his best solo stories, if not his best. Very apt material for film.

Morbius has had 2 ongoing series, not the biggest commercial successes but still.
He's not just a vampire, like Blade is not just a Van Helsing type.

Besides, your Blade example works against your argument: he has had less solo stories than Morbius and was given a solo movie outside his original franchise, Tomb of Dracula.
You may be under this misconception that Morbius is a Spider villain, I'd say he is more a Punisher case, more so than Venom.

For what is worth, my 10 years old self that just read Amazing SM 100-102 would have been super excited at this development... Goddess was that too many decades ago.

He would probably be a self loathing vampire looking for a cure for his condition.

He's the living vampire. Bruce Timm already animated Kirk Langstrom as Batman having the same core character traits.

Morbius has evolved way beyond that at this point. His movie will probably be similar to Blade in some regards. Plus, with Morbius you can have him fight other monster types and give it a supernatural type feel.

I think a Morbius movie *can* be done, but I don't trust Sony to do it well. In fact, a lot of these spin-off ideas COULD work, but I have no reason to believe that this studio will give us good movies.

I mean Venom was pretty much their biggest character that's not Spider-Man and they already did it. Nobody else comes close in terms of popularity. Morbius is one of the better choices if they must. There are approximately 0 fans of Nightwatch and they want to make a movie of that guy.
