The Amazing Spider-Man SONY WANTS TO KNOW: What do you want most from the new trailer?

What do you want the most from the trailer?

  • Spidey in action

  • When Peter met Gwen

  • Bring the funny

  • Peter's missing parents

  • The Lizard

Results are only viewable after voting.
in order of the amount I want to see on the trailer

spidey in action - 70%
how he swings, how he wall crawls, how he moves.
but not his spider sense, I want to be surprised by that in the movie.

bring the funny - 15%
wisecracks, no where near enough in the original triliogy.
prove spidey can be witty and still kick ass.

peter's parents - 10%
imho this is going to be the hook for te general audience, the thing that makes this different than a shameless retread. show the GA there is a deep and engaging story beneath the 'super'.

lizard - 5%
give just enough to give the audience a taste but not a full reveal, leave something for the movie that is going to blow them away

gwen and pete - 0%
this is an action drama not a romcom

What a way to drag this whole thing out...

But to answer their question.

- Spidey in action (We need to see that spidey's swinging and doings will definitely be different from before!)
- Peak at the Lizard
- Proof of GREAT acting and drama
- Some great spidey humor (NON cheesy)

Bring it!

I think the poll will help them decide the proportions of those things in the trailer.

Only one wants "How Pete met Gwen"
Poor fellow?

Actually I love (500) Days of Summer and for me Spider-Man is more about relationships than about action. Many scenes with Pete, Gwen and indie songs? Bring it! My opinion...

All of Spidey's humor is cheesy. That's what gives it its charm. It's just that its funny too.

Humor can be cheesy if its funny.

Exactly. They want to know what fans want so that they don't have to little of the lizard or to little of spidey in action.

I want the same. Except for the Lizard, I think they should give him his full reveal here. Preferably, the bathroom scene.

I said Spider-Man in Action. Aside from that POV, we haven't seen how the suit looks in motion at all (not counting set vids). Lizard is a close second, though.

We share the same opinion on this.

Action and the Lizard show both. Blockbuster need to sell there action and comic book villains need to sell there villains. The public always is interested in the villain in the comicbook movies.

Well, in order to do a bang up job, I think the trailer has to have a mixture of ALL these elements.

The Lizard shouldn't be fully revealed in the trailer. He still needs to be kept in the shadows and shown only with quick glimpses.

In fact, the trailer should start off as light-hearted with Peter's Aunt and Uncle, then move into romance with Gwen, then start to get dark and sinister with the Lizard, then end on a high note with Spider-Man action.

Just dropped in to say, this will be the last time I'm in here BEFORE I actually see a headline on the hype, saying that a new spidey trailer is coming exactly when and where... happy new-year! I'm outey!

I think they should ”bring the funny”.

That would:

1) prove that these movies will be closer to the comics in some ways

2) show this movie isn't all gloomy

3) show that this version can be grounded AND fun

That's what I voted. And I mean bring the funny THAT'S ACTUALLY FUNNY. Because in the past all we got was awkward masquerading as funny.

To me, cheesy=awkward. You the jokester think it's funny but nobody else does. That's just painful to watch and the first 3 films are full of that kind of stuff. I want to see Garfield show he's got the charisma to pull off Spidey's wit. Spidey in the comics may have a silly streak in his humor much of the time but from what I've seen, most of the time it's still actually funny(granted that's in text rather than being delivered live but you get my point).
