Spider-Man 5 and 6 should really have a new cast, reboot or not. This is not Harry Potter.

it looks like after 6 years Sony found out that they can push Raimi around and they will nto stop it.

Raimi needs to leave some '' f... you '' and some '' burn in helll'' at their door.

Raimi is big. he is able to make quality movies. and he knows how to have fun on movies(drag me to hell). if this is really true he doesnt need Sony to rape him in the a.....

Nobody is pushing him around either, if the script is in trouble and production postponed, is because there´s a struggle. Working with studios is s*** every time, even when you´re a successful director, and Raimi is not Spielberg or Cameron either, SM is his only blockbuster series to date. To say "f*** you" and leave is the easy, cowardly way. Even the script for SM2 had struggles, they hired at least for different writers for drafts, and it still turned out as great as it was.

I think that has got to be the only example I can think of in which a movie came back after going down hill (without being rebooted).

I'd say that the third Terminator movie was the cinematic equivalent of a dysentery infection. Opinions vary on Terminator Salvation, but personally I found it to be a MAJOR step up from the franchise-killer before it.

Yeah, at that point it was clearly turning into self-parody, with the Terminatrix inflating her boobs, Arnie getting dressed in a strip club and whatnot. The tone of the fourth got much closer to the original intent of the franchise, in spite of its flaws.

There have been bad films that have still gotten follow-ups made that were not reboots.

In terms of films that weren't necessarily good, but then got a sequel that was better, these exist, too.

Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade to Indiana Jones: And The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Batman Returns to Batman Forever

Technically not a reboot,
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace to Superman Returns

It's debatable that Jurassic Park III was better than The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

X3: The Last Stand still has sequels coming out in its continuity....etc

SPIDER-MAN 3, for its flaws, still isn't a terrible film. It is enjoyable and in the scheme of it isn't that bad. Sam missed the mark with the seriousness of the symbiot arch, yes. But the over all film isn't horrible because of it-- it's just not great.

When you've made a solid origin, and a great sequel...I can forgive an "okay" film, especially when he was forced to make a film that wasn't "his" vision. Give him a shot with SPIDER-M4N.

"Crusade" started the downfall. Too much slapstick and regurgitating elements from "Raiders" -- say all you want about "Temple" and "Skull", but at least those two tried something different.

It's a shame that they missed the opportunity to show Venom as a really frightening villain. Having him stalk Spider-Man, visiting his Aunt, terrorizing Mary Jane, really letting Peter know that he could get any of his loved ones and that he knows all of his little secrets. It would also have been great to see Venom trying to expose Spider-Man as Peter Parker.

Sounds like the Dark Knight.

whether sam stays or not I will always have SM2 which a thought was ****ing fantastic. sure people want wisecracks and humour and this and that but for me that movie in the superhero genre has only been bettered by TDK. so no raimi wasn't a terrible choice for spidey, he hit SM2 out of the frigging park and I watched SM2 again after watching the likes of BB and Iron man and I MUCH perferred SM2.

At some point you need to stop living in the past. We are in 2010. Not 2004. Raimi/Sony just need to shake hands and call it a day rather than deliver another mediocre, half hearted film.

I am sure Sony can at least show Raimi the courtesy of a handshake before they boot him out the door. Raimi on the other hand can give them the finger for all I care, and I would have no problem with that. I just think this is the perfect opportunity for Sony to just go with the Vanderbilt script and do a sequel trilogy. Parker is still technically in college in SM3 so Parker is still young in the movies, the MJ relationship is still iffy. Maybe find some way to write Brock/Venom back in depending on the potential spin off. Or pick up with new characters. I don't see a need for a grand send off that runs the franchise into a dead end. Nearly had that with SM3.

I LOVED S-M3 and i was VERY satisifed with it, but I just hope Sony doesn't get in the way with S-M4. Sam knows what he wants for this film. Let him use VUlture!

Ok I have very mixed feelings about all this.

First of all, I don't see why Vulture can't be a great villain in the movie. There will probably be another villain added there as well, like Electro. Just have some imagination, and Vulture can turn out alot better than what people expect. He's a cold-blooded, inventional and smart, evil bastard who is capable of making a very complex and evil scheme for Spidey to have trouble against.

Secondly, I am totally on Raimi's side and the only hope I have left is because of him. Why add Black Cat NOW Sony?? We've already had love-triangles in every damn movie and it's finally time to establish MJ as that great girlfriend from the comics. Not messing everything up AGAIN! I think Sony is stupid, they just want a hottie to sell more money. Instead, they should focus on delivering a great story.

Third, I'm really happy that Raimi "hated" the script with Vulturess and all that ****. It calms me down a bit. But I'm still worried that Sony will get their will and SM4 will be half-assed like SM3.

And, fourth, I'm worried that after all this time, they still can't get a good script. Unfortunately, I feel there's a 50/50 chance that this film will be even worse than Spider-Man 3.

I have faith in Raimi but im not so sure about the vulture. I mean, we've had green goblin, doc ock, sandman, venom and you're going to follow that up with the Vulture?? Eh i dunno, i dont think he's a strong enough villain to warrant his own film.

It should be Lizard. No ifs or buts. Seriously, who gives a **** about Vulture? The only time I've thought he was worth a damn was in that Identity Disk mini series.

He could be the mind behind a seriously evil scheme that could turn out to be one of the greatest challenges yet for Spidey. I think the greatest thing about Vulture could be his characterisations, not his powers. His suit and weapons would more be like a bonus for him to be deadly on his own for Spidey to face. The awesome and spectacular battles could be against Electro, Scorpion or some other powerful villain that's involved in Vulture's genious plan.

The Lizard HAS to be in this movie. They've been building him up plus the Lizard is a fan favorite. The vulture is one of the last villains i'd expect to be in a movie.

Mysterio could be a cool villain, Kraven too. Sincerely I don´t think Vulture is the best choice, but the studio apparently can´t make up their mind either.
